Background And Present Contributions Of The School Sisters Of Notre Dame, Frank M. Bruce Jr. Jun 1935

Background And Present Contributions Of The School Sisters Of Notre Dame, Frank M. Bruce Jr.

Bachelors’ Theses

Mother says she sent me off to school when I was only five and that the School Sisters of Notre Dame were given charge of my early education, but I was too young to remember. Yet whet I do remember is that these Sisters did guide my course thru the elementary school, that they were the first added instruments in my education. I remember particularly well my First Communion, my Confirmation, the first Mass I served at. Each ot these was guided by a School Sister and supplemented by our parish priest. I am very grateful to them.

Were the definition, that I hold, my own, I would not presume to offer it here; but I need only find the proper words with which to express the common opinion of many seers in many times and countries; and this, unfortunately, seems now to be …

The Dominicans In History, Thomas M. Schweriner, O.P. Jan 1916

The Dominicans In History, Thomas M. Schweriner, O.P.

Historical Catholic and Dominican Documents

Father Schweriner, O.P., highlights the history of the Dominican Order from the time St. Dominic received the Papal Blessing for his vision of Christ’s work on earth through to the Order’s expansion during the Middle Ages – to the development of the Order’s use of teaching, music, and art in spreading the Gospel – to the then current state of affairs in the midst of World War I. This short treatise on the Dominican Order serves as a primer for those interested in exploring the origins and development of the Order’s seven hundred year history.

Literature As A Fine Art, S. B. Gass Jan 1914

Literature As A Fine Art, S. B. Gass

Mid-West Quarterly (1913–1918)

"The whole energy of his mind was spent to reunite what men had put asunder, to fuse in holy passion the differences that are invented by the near-sighted activities of the discriminating human intellect." "The unsophisticated perceptions and thoughts of children and of the peasantry, of half-witted human creatures and of the animals that are nearer to earth than we, lent him a more rompanionable guidance [than his own intellect and] to these spiritual …
