Ai In The Family Archive: A Collaborative Exploration, Vanessa Reyes, Bhuva Narayan, Annemarie Zijlema, Mary Anne Kennan
Ai In The Family Archive: A Collaborative Exploration, Vanessa Reyes, Bhuva Narayan, Annemarie Zijlema, Mary Anne Kennan
Proceedings from the Document Academy
In this paper, the authors engaged in a structured exploration based on their personal experiences and professional expertise. Together they examine how AI impacts personal and collective memory, preservation efforts, and the ethical concerns around personal archives. As GenAI becomes more accessible to anyone with digital online access, new questions arise about the authenticity, continuity, and transformation of our documents. The questions we asked of ourselves and each other are: How has AI changed our understanding of the authenticity of the documents in our personal and family archives? Do AI-generated narratives and images enhance or distort our family and collective …

Exploring Noise Induced Extreme Events In Neuronal Oscillators Networks And Machine Learning Forecasts, Hariharan S Mr
Exploring Noise Induced Extreme Events In Neuronal Oscillators Networks And Machine Learning Forecasts, Hariharan S Mr
Theses and Dissertations
This doctoral dissertation comprehensively investigates the underexplored phenomenon of noise-induced extreme events (EE). The word “extreme” is accompanied by an occurring “event” when the deviation is extreme or higher than that of regular occurrences. These extreme occurrences are rare, abrupt, sudden, and irregular, often causing a profound impact on the system and its surroundings. Tsunami, earthquakes, solar flares, and tornadoes are such events that do not occur often but still significantly cause damage to mankind. This thesis particularly focuses on EE in neuronal systems where sudden synchronization can trigger seizures, tremors, and strokes which serve as classic examples of such …

The Field Of International Business Transactions Law, Kathleen Claussen
The Field Of International Business Transactions Law, Kathleen Claussen
Seattle University Law Review
This Article studies the evolution of the scholarly subfield referred to as the law of “international business transactions” (IBT). It reviews data on academic articles, courses, textbooks and other signifiers of the growth of this research area. Beginning around 1960, scholars began to use the term “international business transactions” and by the 1980s, several law schools were offering a course by that title. A handful of dedicated textbooks soon followed. These data reflect a gradual increase in research on the topic of IBT, particularly in the United States, but also considerable diversity of subject matters covered by those works. The …
Navigating Compliance In A Geopolitical Era: The Case Of Chinese Multinationals In The United States, Ji Li
Navigating Compliance In A Geopolitical Era: The Case Of Chinese Multinationals In The United States, Ji Li
Seattle University Law Review
This Article examines how Chinese multinational companies (MNCs) approach compliance in the United States amid deepening geo-political rivalry and intensified regulatory scrutiny. Drawing on original survey data, this Article maps variations in compliance structures, staffing, and governance mechanisms across Chinese firms and identifies key determinants such as industry-specific regulatory intensity, listing status, and organizational imprinting from headquarters. The analysis employs a dual institutional framework to explain how compliance systems emerge from the interplay between host-state regulatory demands and home-state institutional legacies, producing hybrid structures that blend local adaptation with headquarters-driven replication. Findings reveal that while certain compliance features—such as committee …
“It’S Like Being Interrogated For A Crime:” The Job Interview Experiences Of Late Diagnosed Autistic Women, Brianna M. Sandner
“It’S Like Being Interrogated For A Crime:” The Job Interview Experiences Of Late Diagnosed Autistic Women, Brianna M. Sandner
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Autistic adults face disproportionately high unemployment rates, with traditional job interviewsserving as a significant barrier due to their emphasis on social norms and the importance of first impressions. Research on barriers late-diagnosed autistic women—a population historically marginalized in both autism and employment research—encounter during job interviews is nascent. This study examines four key areas through the voices of participants: challenges encountered during interviews, coping mechanisms, masking behaviors, and the impact of receiving a late diagnosis on their understanding of past job-seeking experiences. Women described experiencing difficulties with an inaccessible interview structure, navigating social and professional norms, and answering questions on …

Inaccessibility Harms: Exploring The Impact Of Inaccessible Campus Organizations On Disabled Students, Francis W. Q. Corvin, Natalie G. Horgan
Inaccessibility Harms: Exploring The Impact Of Inaccessible Campus Organizations On Disabled Students, Francis W. Q. Corvin, Natalie G. Horgan
Purdue Journal of Service-Learning and International Engagement
There are 3.5 million Disabled college students in the United States, with 4,671 utilizing disability services at Purdue University. Nationwide, 8–14% of students in higher education are Disabled, indicating a substantial number of students whose needs should be prioritized and supported. Inaccessibility impacts the way Disabled college students are able to engage with the college experience. Inaccessible classes, restrooms, clubs, job fairs, and campuses create significant barriers thatthat extend far beyond the classroom. Disabled students face challenges in securing scholarships, finding employment, graduating on time, and achieving long-term socioeconomic stability. Recognizing these barriers, HonorServes, a community service student committee at …

Homeowner Well-Being And Community Livability, Leo Malachowski, Bridget Heindl
Purdue Journal of Service-Learning and International Engagement
Our project focuses on revitalizing the community by designing homes that reflect each homeowner’s unique preferences, fostering a sense of ownership and emotional well-being. In collaboration with Habitat for Humanity of Lafayette and guided by Ruut Veenhoven’s quality-of-life framework, we aim to create affordable housing initiatives that meet both financial and personal needs while strengthening community connections. Our work with the first homeowner, Carla, demonstrates how personalized housing enhances safety and belonging, transforming a house into a home that inspires pride.
As researchers, participating in this project has broadened our perspective beyond Purdue, especially through meaningful connections with homeowners such …

Social Cognition Simulation With Large Language Model-Driven Agents, Mingxin Zhang, Jinxuan Wu, Rui Zhu, Yunlong Wang, Wenjuan Meng, Zhe Liu, Xu Li, Xiaolei Chen, Yuxuan Liang, Yi Zheng, Xiangyang Xue
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: With the continuous evolution of the capabilities of generative LLMs, their application in social cognition simulation is demonstrating paradigm-shifting potential. Traditional social simulation methods predominantly rely on static rules and simplified behavioral models, making it difficult to capture the dynamic evolution and cultural complexity of human social behavior. LLM-driven agents, equipped with contextual understanding and natural language generation capabilities, are emerging as novel tools for modeling social cognitive mechanisms, enabling the simulation of complex sociopsychological processes such as identity construction, value judgment, and intentional reasoning. This paper briefly introduced the technical foundations of LLMs and highlighted their suitability for …
