Educate. Don’T Annihilate: A Narrative Inquiry Into Students With Dark Personality Traits Who Orchestrate Bullying Campaigns Against A Target Through Mob Formation, Zoey Roosevelt
The Scholarship Without Borders Journal
Less is understood about how peer relationships can escalate into coordinated exclusionary dynamics and sustained group-based targeting within student populations than about acceptance into a higher education program. Moreover, existing literature grounded in Social Identity Theory and Organizational Ostracism has primarily focused on workplace and organizational settings, leaving a gap in understanding these processes in higher education contexts. This study addresses that gap using Dark Personality Framework, Social Identity Theory, and Conflict Escalation Theory to explain how and why this phenomenon occurs. The study asks, “What happens when a higher education student with dark personality traits orchestrates a coordinated bullying …
Teacher Agency In The Classroom, Joy Gibson, Lizeth Sandoval
Teacher Agency In The Classroom, Joy Gibson, Lizeth Sandoval
The Scholarship Without Borders Journal
Teacher agency is an important factor in student success; it is the ability to intentionally lead classrooms to support student learning outcomes, environments, and school culture. However, teacher agency remains underexamined as a construct for neurodiverse students in K-12 classrooms. This literature review argues that teacher agency is an essential component of genuine inclusivity for neurodiverse students and supports asset-based instruction. Grounded in social-cultural theory, this literature review examines five interconnected areas: theoretical foundation for teacher agency, neurodiversity as an asset-based approach, instructional strategies, teacher development, and the role of collaboration and family engagement. Findings suggest that instructional barriers, including …
Ministry Leaders Applying Psychological Theories To Overcome Apathy: A Case Study, Glen A. Bowman
Ministry Leaders Applying Psychological Theories To Overcome Apathy: A Case Study, Glen A. Bowman
The Scholarship Without Borders Journal
This case study examines the persistent challenge of congregational apathy and the efficacy of integrating psychological motivational theories to revitalize a stagnant church culture. The research focuses on a congregation in California’s Central Valley characterized by a "lukewarm" spiritual atmosphere in much of its leadership and membership. The case study follows a newly appointed minister—representing a different age bracket and cultural background—as he navigates the resistance of an entrenched, change-averse leadership team. The researcher evaluated the practical application of three psychological frameworks to combat complacency and found that the Action-Trait Theory proved itself as the most successful method. The theory …
The Prestige Economy Of Legal Scholarship, Jeffrey A. Katz, Jacob Sandler
The Prestige Economy Of Legal Scholarship, Jeffrey A. Katz, Jacob Sandler
Florida Law Review
Law reviews sit at the center of American legal scholarship, but their role is widely misunderstood. They are not peer-reviewed, yet the academy treats their placement decisions as markers of scholarly merit. This Essay argues that law reviews function as participants in a prestige economy—one in which reputation, familiarity, and institutional brand often matter more than substantive judgment. Tracing the student-edited model from its pedagogical origins to its modern professional consequences, this Essay shows how prestige became currency, how that currency shapes editorial and authorial behavior, and why the system strains under political and methodological pressure. It concludes by urging …
Researcher Identity In Non-Conventional Research Settings: An Autoethnography, Irina Berry, Robin Hardin, Hunter B. Porter
Researcher Identity In Non-Conventional Research Settings: An Autoethnography, Irina Berry, Robin Hardin, Hunter B. Porter
Journal of Graduate Education Research
Scholars have emphasized reflexivity as a key practice for addressing potential biases and enhancing the credibility of research. Although reflexivity has been recognized as essential to qualitative rigor, limited attention has been given to its theoretical integration with broader social identity processes, particularly in non-conventional settings. This manuscript extends social identity theory and demonstrates how the insider/outsider model adds additional layer of complexity to the understanding of researcher identity negotiation. In this study, the researcher used an autoethnographic approach to examine the experiences of an able-bodied researcher conducting research in adaptive sport settings and featuring adaptive athletes. Strategies that emerged …

Research To Praxis: Transdisciplinary Skill Development In Graduate Education, Demikia Taylor, Tiffany Drape, Amy Pruden, Todd Schenk, Leigh-Anne Krometis
Journal of Graduate Education Research
This study examines how graduate students' perceptions of transdisciplinary team science evolve as they progress through a graduate training program at a university. Students participated in a series of workshops that built on and reinforced various aspects of training in transdisciplinary team science, including Team Science, Science Communication, Stakeholder Engagement, and International Case Studies in Antibiotic Resistance Monitoring. Students also took accompanying coursework towards a certificate and worked together in collaborative teams in advancing an array of transdisciplinary research projects focused on various dimensions of antibiotic resistance. A qualitative case study approach was taken, systematically examining participants’ reflections following each …

Exploring The Simultaneous Processes Of Academic Job Search And Dissertation For Culturally Diverse Doctoral Candidates In Counselor Education Programs, Galaxina G. Wright, Jasmine Griffith, Jasmine Garrison, Inga Antrobus
Journal of Graduate Education Research
Doctoral candidates face several challenges as they complete their academic journeys, particularly as it relates to the unique balance of applying for faculty positions while completing their dissertations. Though both processes have been explored separately within some educational fields, minimal research exists within the field of counselor education (CE) examining simultaneous experiences, particularly those from historically marginalized populations. Guided by the Career Self-Management (CSM) framework and an interpretive phenomenological analysis (IPA), we explored the perspectives of 11 CE candidates from historically marginalized backgrounds engaged in both processes. We identified five main themes and four subthemes that participants experienced. We discuss …
Online Shopping Non-Adoption In South Africa: A Distrust-Centric Framework Integrating Social Exchange, Trust Transfer, And Social Presence Theories, Cleopatra Moipone Matli, Jeevarathnam P. Govender
Online Shopping Non-Adoption In South Africa: A Distrust-Centric Framework Integrating Social Exchange, Trust Transfer, And Social Presence Theories, Cleopatra Moipone Matli, Jeevarathnam P. Govender
Journal of Marketing and Consumer Behaviour in Emerging Markets
Online shopping non-adoption remains critically underexplored, especially in emerging markets. Addressing this gap, the authors develop and test a distrust-centric framework that applies the inhibitory logic of social exchange, trust transfer, and social presence theories to explain pre-emptive avoidance. Focusing on South Africa, where only 18.16% of the population engage in e-commerce, data was collected from 414 consumers who have never shopped online. Structural equation modelling reveals that perceived lack of reciprocity directly increases the intention of non-adoption. Moreover, distrust in online payment systems transfers to broader channel scepticism, which in turn drives avoidance. Perceived lack of social presence further …
Is It Still Gendered? Political Discourse Among Adolescent Legislators, Kevin G. Lorentz Ii, Stephanie Zarb, Connor J.S. Sutton, Mary Herring
Is It Still Gendered? Political Discourse Among Adolescent Legislators, Kevin G. Lorentz Ii, Stephanie Zarb, Connor J.S. Sutton, Mary Herring
Journal of Political Science Studies
More women are serving in American legislatures than ever before. However, research demonstrates that even when included, women’s formal political participation in legislatures often is undergirded by gender norms and forestalled by considerable institutional barriers, especially partisanship. Given the challenges of traditional gender norms and increasing numbers of women legislators over the past twenty years, our study examines whether political discourse remains gendered in a formal environment. Using a mock legislature of adolescents, we find that women still face substantial barriers that result in their taking fewer speaking turns than their male counterparts, although when women do participate, they act …
Leadership Experiences Of Gender-Diverse Managers In U.S. Libraries And Museums, Galen Jay Talis
Leadership Experiences Of Gender-Diverse Managers In U.S. Libraries And Museums, Galen Jay Talis
Faculty Scholarship
This article explores how gender-diverse managers in U.S. libraries and museums experience leadership and perceive gender to influence leadership. In-depth interviews were conducted with five gender-diverse managers. Data were analyzed with inductive, semantic thematic analysis and a complementary, deductive analysis using Wharton’s multilevel gender framework. Participants described relational, pragmatic, point-person leadership—connecting and supporting people, coordinating work, and translating between units—while expressing ambivalence about formal and hierarchical roles. Most did not initially link leadership to gender; when prompted, they articulated gender’s influence at individual, interactional, and institutional levels. Gender discrimination and transphobia persist even in woman-dominated contexts, shaping decisions about visibility, …

Voices Within: How Ncii Survivors Reconstruct Self Concept Through Intrapersonal Communication, Keisha Aurellia Devinia, Aiza Nabilla Arifputri
JURNAL KOMUNIKASI INDONESIA
This study examines Non-Consensual Intimate Image Sharing (NCII) as a form of digital gender-based violence that disrupts women’s self-concept beyond its psychological consequences, particularly among female victims active on social media. It aims to analyze their intrapersonal communication experiences and how they redefine self-concept following the incident. This study employs a qualitative approach, gathering data by performing in-depth interview with five female NCII victims who actively use social media platforms, such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Telegram, and X. The study draws on Stuart & Laraia’s (1998) self-concept theory, which includes five analytical dimensions: body image, ideal self, self-esteem, role performance, …
Civic Education In Indiana: People, Policies, And Purpose, David J. Roof
Civic Education In Indiana: People, Policies, And Purpose, David J. Roof
Journal of Political Science Studies
Civic education, a cornerstone of our democracy, has experienced a decline in emphasis and effectiveness across the U.S. in recent decades, including in Indiana. This paper examines the historical roots, contemporary challenges, and emerging solutions for fostering civic knowledge, skills, and dispositions among students. It highlights the systemic disparities affecting civic education, particularly in underserved communities, and explores the role of recent legislative measures and innovative initiatives in addressing these gaps. By integrating interdisciplinary approaches, professional development, and hands-on civic engagement, these efforts aim to revitalize civic education and prepare students for active participation in democracy. The findings underscore the …
A Compelling Romance, Kayleigh Kearsley
A Compelling Romance, Kayleigh Kearsley
Curiosity
One of William Shakespeare’s most famous romantic comedies, Much Ado About Nothing, tells the story of two individuals, Claudio and Hero, who quickly fall in love and plan to marry. However, due to another’s nefarious acts, Claudio believes that Hero is unfaithful. He cruelly and publicly shames her at their wedding, leading to her faking her death. In the end, it is revealed that Hero is both innocent and alive, and a double marriage becomes the play’s finale. Though this romance seems to be the focal point of the play, a close reading reveals that the romance between two supporting …

Crisis Severity In Sportswashing: Examining The Effects On Host Nations, Erika J. Schneider, Courtney D. Boman, Mutaz M.. Barnawi, Kenon A. Brown
Media Studies - All Scholarship
This study examines how the men’s 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, marked by allegations of labor abuses, influenced U.S. viewers’ perceptions of the host nation through the lens of “sportswashing.” Utilizing a survey of self-identified U.S. viewers of the World Cup, the analysis examines how viewers’ personal involvement and recognition of human rights concerns influenced their perceptions of the crisis’s severity. Findings show that recognition of the problem, by viewers themselves, significantly increased perceptions of severity, while involvement with the issue of human rights did not have a direct effect on severity perceptions. Higher perceptions of severity, in turn, …

Virtual Workplace And Employee Engagement, Victoria Cox, Alisa Allen
Virtual Workplace And Employee Engagement, Victoria Cox, Alisa Allen
Journal of Fundamental & Applied Business Research
This article examined virtual workplace employees and employee engagement challenges and solutions. Employees who work remotely often feel disconnected from coworkers, organizational missions, and have a feeling of emotional isolation. This article examined the problems organizations face when not prioritizing virtual socialization for remote workers, leading to employee turnover, disengagement, and loneliness. The systematic review consisted of conducting a review within the Liberty University Jerry Falwell Library, encompassing empirical studies sourced from ProQuest, EBSCO, Emerald, and Gale databases. Studies published in peer reviewed journals, and the BibleGateway online between 2021 and 2026. A total of 33 journals were synthesized to …
Originalism, Methodolatry, And The Only Guarantee Of Wisdom, Chad Oldfather
Originalism, Methodolatry, And The Only Guarantee Of Wisdom, Chad Oldfather
Florida Law Review
More work on originalism would seem to be among the last things the world needs. Yet the author hope to add two things to the debate. The first is a suggestion that originalist practice and theorizing have fallen prey to the phenomenon of methodolatry. This refers to an excessive focus on refinement of method for its own sake and in a manner that loses sight of the goals the method is designed to serve and, more importantly, the tendencies and capacities of those who must implement it. The second is to point out that there is an ingredient of …

“I Don’T Think We Do A Good Enough Job Acknowledging How Much This Space Is Needed By The Adults”: Making Intergenerational Futures At Camp Fyrefly, Ontario Ontario, Mayera Chazan, Megan Hill, Rachael Nicholls, Ziysah Von Bieberstein
Journal of Queer and Trans Studies in Education
This paper examines the liberatory potential of intergenerationality at Camp fYrefly, Ontario—an overnight summer camp for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth that is unique within its rural region. In 2023, we conducted research in partnership with Camp fYrefly, including one arts-based workshop, two focus groups, and five key informant interviews. The analysis explores one core finding: participants experience this youth-focused program as an intergenerational future-building project. Extending scholarship on queering mentorship, generativity, and futurity, the article concludes that Camp fYrefly’s intergenerationality binds past, present, and future in the collective project of queering education and making better futures possible. Intergenerationality is also what sustains …
Mothers On The Ballot: Gender And Partisan Dynamics In The Evaluation Of Maternal Political Candidates, Jimena Sanchez
Mothers On The Ballot: Gender And Partisan Dynamics In The Evaluation Of Maternal Political Candidates, Jimena Sanchez
DU Undergraduate Research Journal Archive
While scholarly research on the interaction between gender and political candidacy has grown, there is limited research on the way mothers are perceived in politics when they choose to run for office. The goal of the paper is to answer the following research question: how do partisanship and gender influences public perceptions of mothers running for political office, and to what extent does social desirability shape these attitudes? Through a list experiment, I surveyed individuals in the United States to capture the beliefs of the public toward mothers running for political office. Specifically, I analyze the opinions of survey participants …
Urban Removal: The Long-Term Impacts Of The Displacement Of Denver’S Auraria Neighborhood, Sophia Krout, Reginald A. Byron
Urban Removal: The Long-Term Impacts Of The Displacement Of Denver’S Auraria Neighborhood, Sophia Krout, Reginald A. Byron
DU Undergraduate Research Journal Archive
In the early 1970s, the Auraria Center for Higher Education was developed, displacing a well-established Denver Latino neighborhood, which encompassed a 38-block district at the time, including 155 families, 49 single individuals, and 237 businesses, and clearing the way for the establishment of the Metropolitan State University of Denver, the University of Colorado Denver, and Denver Community College. The implementation of remedial measures for the displacement has fallen short of meeting the needs of displaced residents. The residents were promised affordable education through a program named the Displaced Aurarian Scholarship, which has similarly stated intentions of improving the educational attainment …

The structural barriers that isolate faculty from one another—individualistic reward systems, professional identity protection, disciplinary silos, fragmented time—have been documented in detail elsewhere. This paper begins where that analysis ends. Its sole focus is solutions: what actually works, what you can do without waiting for your institution to change, and most importantly, what you can do today. It is organized in three movements: evidence-based institutional strategies, community-level structures any group of faculty can build, and a granular map of the smallest possible individual first steps—the ones that cost almost nothing and have an outsized probability of changing how you experience …

In this paper, we explore how students approach the reneging decision, specifically examining the questions they ask and the advice they receive from peers and professionals. Using an interpretivist approach and reflective thematic analysis, we analyzed 25 Reddit posts by accounting students navigating reneges. Our findings offer novel insights into the student experience and the advice students are receiving from social network contacts. We find that …

This ambition is made explicit in Putin’s 2021 speech “On the Historical Unity of Russians and Ukrainians,” where he asserts that “Russians and Ukrainians [are] one people – a single whole.” Ukraine’s rejection of this Russian colonizing and anti-European narrative, however, has been clear and unambiguous, as demonstrated in the now more …
