Islamic Premarital Education In Malaysia Through The Lens Of Moral Education, Worapong Charoenwong
Islamic Premarital Education In Malaysia Through The Lens Of Moral Education, Worapong Charoenwong
Asia-Pacific Social Science Review
Premarital education in Malaysia is recognized as exemplary, given that it has become a model for the development of similar endeavors in other countries in Southeast Asia. Several studies have been conducted to evaluate the provision of premarital education in Malaysia. However, it was found that an evaluation through a moral-educational framework was missing, even though premarital education should be viewed as part of moral education. To fill this gap, this paper offers an analysis and assessment of Islamic premarital education in Malaysia through Sanger and Osguthorpe’s (2005) two-level framework. Data were collected from official documents, non-participant observation, and in-depth …

Letter To Congress From Harvey A. Friedman Center For Aging, June 24, 2025, Ernest Gonzales, Cal J. Halvorsen, Nancy Morrow-Howell
Harvey A. Friedman Center for Aging
Letter to Members of Congress: We are gerontological social work researchers with expertise in productive aging; that is, activities that produce goods or services for society, whether paid for or not. We mainly focus on risk and protective factors to employment, caregiving, and volunteering in later life, and the many health, economic, and social outcomes.
Attached are peer reviewed scientific journal articles and policy briefs that underscore the importance of social policies that enable older adults to contribute to society through productive aging. In simple terms, increasing opportunities for older adults to remain productively engaged through work, volunteering, and caregiving …

Predictive Study Of The Relationship Between Self-Care And Professional Quality Of Life Among Licensed Counselors Impacted By Covid-19, Maria G. Billings
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The COVID-19 pandemic has created unprecedented challenges for mental health professionals, significantly increasing burnout and secondary traumatic stress while reducing available resources and limiting opportunities for compassion satisfaction. The purpose of this cross-sectional, quantitative survey study was to determine whether self-care engagement predicts levels of burnout, secondary traumatic stress, and compassion satisfaction among counselors. Grounded in Stamm’s theoretical framework on compassion satisfaction and compassion fatigue, the Self-Care Assessment Worksheet (SCAW) was used to measure self-care engagement, and the Professional Quality of Life Scale (ProQOL-V) was used to assess burnout, secondary traumatic stress, and compassion satisfaction. The sample included 59 licensed …

Amateur Athletes' Psychological Experiences Of Participation-Altering And Participation-Ending Injuries, Andrew Milowsky
Electronic Theses and Dissertations Archive
Injury is a common occurrence among athletes, and research indicates that when athletes experience an injury, they frequently experience negative psychological consequences. Most of the literature related to the psychological impact of injury centers around higher-level (i.e., professional, college, and elite) athletes, with limited literature for amateur athletes who also experience injury. More specifically, there is also sparse scholarship examining the psychological impact of moderate and severe injuries for amateur athletes that experience them. Considering the gaps in the literature, the current study examined the psychological impact of participation-altering and participation-ending injuries in amateur athletes (N = 177), while also …

DLSU Senior High School Research Congress
Single teenage mothers in the Philippines face unique emotional and psychological challenges as they transition from adolescence to adulthood. These challenges often stem from societal stigma, guilt, and the loss of personal aspirations, which negatively affect their mental health and self-identity. Guided by Intersectionality theory, this study explores the emotional experiences of single teenage Filipino mothers, aiming to understand how early motherhood influences their emotional well-being, identity formation, and personal growth. Six Filipino women, aged 18 to 55, were purposively selected to provide a diverse generational perspective. Semi-structured interviews were conducted, and the data were analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s …

BACKGROUND: Rhinitis is the most common sinonasal condition and poses a significant cost burden. Rhinitis symptom control is associated with exposure to environmental triggers (eg, aeroallergens, pollutants, and irritants). While people spend much of their time at home, studies examining the association of rhinitis symptoms with home environmental exposures, especially in low-income, urban, and racial or ethnic minorities, are limited. Frequently, 3 types of surveys are used in ecological momentary assessment (EMA): a survey conducted at a predetermined rate, an event-triggered survey, and a follow-up survey to gauge behavioral changes in response to the event.
OBJECTIVE: This study aims to …

The Opioid Crisis: How The United States And Countries Abroad Are Making Strides, Maura Mcginnity
DePaul Journal of Health Care Law
The opioid epidemic has been an ongoing problem in the United States since the 1980s. The United States has had a very negative attitude towards individuals suffering from addiction. This attitude is clearly shown through the United States’ handling of the opioid crisis. Hundreds of thousands of individuals have died due to opioids. In the forty years since this epidemic became prevalent, the United States has still failed to implement a country-wide solution to combat the crisis. Certain states, like New York and Illinois, have made strides toward helping individuals suffering from opioid use disorder, but nationally, the country is …

Communication Faculty Articles and Research
During the 2020 worldwide lockdowns due to COVID-19, qualitative researchers were restricted to online communication (e.g., Zoom) to gather qualitative interview data. Since that time, qualitative researchers have increasingly transitioned from conducting interviews primarily in person to conducting interviews using online communication technologies such as Zoom, but little is known about how interview approaches may impact the interview experience or data quality. This study explores differences between face-to-face (FTF) and online (Zoom) interviewing approaches, data quality, and interviewee perceptions of rapport, empathy, and conversational involvement. Participants were assigned to an interview condition (FTF or Zoom) and randomly assigned to one …

Invisible Intersections: Race, Adhd, And The Role Of Disciplinary Actions In Academic Outcomes, Miles Feller
Clinical Psychology Dissertations
Race is a marginalized identity linked to significant achievement gaps for Black and Latino students in the USA (de Bray et al., 2019). These students experience higher rates of exclusionary school discipline (ESD) than White and Asian peers (Aud et al., 2010; de Bray et al., 2019), with suspensions correlating to lower academic performance (Del Toro & Wang, 2022; Wang et al., 2023; Owens & Hinshaw, 2016). Additionally, developmental disabilities like ADHD intersect with these issues; despite narrowing racial disparities in diagnoses (Cénat et al., 2022; Fairman et al., 2020), access to treatment remains uneven (Baglivio et al., 2017; Coker …

Comparison Of Ageing-Friendly Supporting Facilities Between Self-Financed And Government-Subsidized Residential Care Homes: Evidence From China, Yueran Li, Mei-Yung Leung
CIB Conferences
Ageing-friendly supporting facilities are commonly implemented in residential care homes for older people. These facilities not only support the daily activities of older people but also affect their physical and psychological health. However, the development of ageing-friendly supporting facilities usually varies among homes due to differences in construction and operational funding. In order to better accommodate older residents, it is essential to compare the ageing-friendly supporting facilities across different residential care homes and identify the key variances. A total of 69 samples were collected from two primary categories of residential care homes in China, namely self-financed homes and government-subsidized homes. …

The construction industry in Australia is characterized by a notably low representation of women among professional groups, the lowest across all major industries and sectors. Women who enter the industry frequently face harassment and discrimination and encounter fewer opportunities for career advancement compared to their male counterparts. There is still a clear lack of awareness and understanding among female practitioners in the construction industry regarding mental health issues. Therefore, this research addresses this significant gap through a qualitative literature review, analysing over 129 published research papers. The findings were assessed using content analysis to pinpoint the primary barriers that female …

Social procurement is a recent policy development in public administration that has blurred the traditional boundaries of governance by collaborating with the private sector for societal transformation and wicked issues resolution. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) emphasise the significance of inclusive growth and development, prompting governments worldwide to employ social procurement policy initiatives within the infrastructure sector as a practical vehicle for achieving the transformative vision. This has given rise to a vast array of social procurement policies within Australian governments. However, the creation of these policies has also generated significant confusion, especially regarding the effective implementation and evaluation of …

The need to reduce inequality for people with disabilities is a strong theme in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Cities and communities should be inclusive, but the Built Environment has many buildings and spaces with problematic access features that make full participation impossible for this demographic. Universities can play an important role in addressing the issues underlying barriers to access and in providing clear steps for improvement and inclusion. The role involves interacting with all the key stakeholders including people with disabilities, disability advocacy organisations, construction professionals, legislators, students and the general public. This research demonstrates the role in …

Outcomes during the execution of construction processes and methods are dependent on the details generated during the design process. A holistic analysis and selection of design alternatives by all key participants early in the design can enhance construction efficiency and outcomes. However, trade partners responsible for implementing more than 80% of building construction scopes are underutilized in developing the detials associated with the system designs. This limitation lowers the ability to optimize the design while the potential to influence cost and other client value items is still high. It also remains unclear how trade partners can be effectively engaged early …

The Role Of Risk Tolerance In Peer-Influenced Risk-Taking Behaviors On Construction Sites, Shiva Pooladvand, Sogand Hasanzadeh
CIB Conferences
The inherently social environment of construction job sites can exacerbate high incident rates due to social influence and peer pressure. Workers’ risk perception (RP) and risk tolerance (RT) have been identified as key factors contributing to their involvement in high-risk behaviors. However, there is a paucity of research on how workers’ RT, as a personality trait, impacts and moderates the relationship between RP and risk-taking behaviors in the presence of a risky peer. To fill this gap, this study empirically examined the changes in workers’ stress levels, due to the perceived risk, and risk-taking behaviours given their RT in the …
