Effects Of The Case Management With Community Support Program On Health Behaviors And Outcomes In Thai Buddhist Monks With Type 2 Diabetes And Early-Stage Chronic Kidney Disease, Napawadee Tangtrongvisolkit, Noppawan Piaseu, Porntip Malathum, Basia Belza
Journal of Health Research
Background: Patient engagement and community support are vital for promoting self-care in monks with early-stage chronic kidney disease (CKD). This study investigated the impact of an 18-week Case Management with Community Support Program (CMCSP) on self-care activities and health outcomes (hemoglobin A1c, HbA1c), blood pressure, and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) in Thai Buddhist monks with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and CKD.
Methods: A Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) with pretest and post-test measures was employed. Eighty-two monks with T2DM and stage 1–2 CKD were recruited from 33 subdistricts in Thailand and randomly assigned into experimental (n = …

Dlmp: A Deterministic Lightweight Memory Protector For Rowhammer-Resilient Computing Platforms, Mostefa Sayeh Mr
Defensive Publications Series
This document introduces DLMP (Deterministic Lightweight Memory Protector), a standalone memory protection architecture designed to counter RowHammer vulnerabilities in DRAM-based systems. DLMP enforces deterministic, low-overhead protection by tracking row access activity and enforcing per-row decay-based thresholds using integer-only logic and an FSM-based control f low. It is platform-agnostic and ideal for use in embedded systems, NPUs, and other latency sensitive computing environments. DLMP ensures that no row can be activated beyond a safe threshold by dynamically assigning row “temperature” states (Hot, Warm, Cool) and triggering enforcement through the Row Cooldown Enforcer (RCE). This document is …

Supporting Parent Confidence Through Accessible Education In Pediatric Occupational Therapy, Dylan Spruill
Department of Occupational Therapy Entry-Level Capstone Projects
This capstone project explored strategies to enhance parent confidence and engagement in pediatric occupational therapy. Guided by a needs assessment drawn from literature, clinical observation, and parent input, the project identified a lack of accessible, affirming educational materials for families. In response, strengths-based, plain-language resources were developed and distributed in both print and digital formats. These materials supported parent understanding of therapeutic goals and encouraged home-based carryover of clinical strategies. Additionally, participation in small-group summer programming and one-on-one parent conversations provided insight into family needs and informed the resource design process. Outcomes suggest that empowering parents through targeted education can …
Next-Gen Leaders: Cultivating Board Room Readiness For Emerging Nurse Professionals, Cheryl Nikol Hamilton
Next-Gen Leaders: Cultivating Board Room Readiness For Emerging Nurse Professionals, Cheryl Nikol Hamilton
Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project addressed the critical underrepresentation of nurses on healthcare boards by implementing an evidence-based intervention to improve board readiness among emerging nurse leaders in Arkansas. The purpose of the project was to assess and enhance nurses’ self-perceived competencies in governance through a structured educational program and the SHIP-BC© readiness assessment tool. A quasi-experimental pre-post design was utilized with honorees from two leadership programs within a statewide nursing organization. Participants first completed the SHIP-BC© survey to establish baseline perceptions of board readiness across domains of analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Following a four-week microlearning board …
Enhancing Nurse Well-Being Through Mandatory Rest Breaks At A Hospital, Elise Njang
Enhancing Nurse Well-Being Through Mandatory Rest Breaks At A Hospital, Elise Njang
Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
Nurses are essential to the healthcare system, yet their demanding 12-hour shifts in hospital settings often leave little opportunity for adequate rest. The absence of structured rest breaks not only endangers nurses' well-being but may also compromise the quality of patient care. This quality improvement (QI) project aimed to evaluate the effects of implementing structured, mandatory 15-minute rest breaks on nurse burnout and job satisfaction. The initiative addressed a critical gap at the project site, where nurses typically received only one 30-minute lunch break per shift, despite evidence supporting the benefits of more frequent rest breaks. A quasi-experimental pre- and …

Improving Anxiety Screening In Active-Duty Military: Policy Recommendation For Implementing Ham-A Alongside Gad-7, Alex Judkins
Student Scholarly Projects
Practice Problem: Military personnel appear to be at increased risk for mood and stress-related conditions, such as anxiety and depression. These are frequently associated with traumatic brain injury (TBI), yet existing policies and practices may not fully capture this symptom complexity.
PICOT: For healthcare policymakers and providers (P), how does a policy review and recommendation for implementing the HAM-A screening tool for anxiety (I), compared to continued reliance on GAD-7 (C), impact the early identification and policy alignment for somatic and psychic anxiety management among active-duty military personnel (O)?
Evidence: Investigating psychological illnesses and their physiological manifestations in isolation fails …

Faculty Research 2025
Immuno-oncology and the advent of immunotherapies, in particular immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), have fundamentally altered the way we treat cancer. Yet only a small subset of patients actually responds to ICIs, and many face significant adverse effects, making the accurate selection of patients for ICIs essential to the work of immuno-oncology. Immune biomarkers, such as programmed death-ligand 1, microsatellite instability/defective mismatch repair, and tumor mutational burden have been developed for patient selection and stratification for ICIs, though their predictive abilities remain limited. This is due to several challenges: lack of adequate tissue sampling, the time-consuming and subjective nature of manual …

Yo Soy Minnesota: Bridging Health Equity Gaps With Culturally And Linguistically Inclusive Resources For Hispanics In Central Minnesota, Liz Damaris Vincente Berrios
DNP Projects
Health disparities are preventable yet persist due to systemic inequities in social, economic, and healthcare structures. Rooted in historical injustices and social determinants of health, these disparities disproportionately impact minority communities, including Hispanics in Central Minnesota. Barriers such as limited English proficiency (LEP), provider biases, and inadequate health literacy further exacerbate inequitable health outcomes. Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) offer a modifiable solution to mitigate these disparities by ensuring healthcare resources align with diverse beliefs, practices, and linguistic needs. This project focuses on CLAS as a modifiable factor affecting Hispanics in Central Minnesota and explores the impact of "Yo …
Data Registration Techniques For Optical Functional Brain Mapping, Abigail Magee
Data Registration Techniques For Optical Functional Brain Mapping, Abigail Magee
McKelvey School of Engineering Graduate Student Theses & Dissertations
Optical functional brain mapping presents a versatile, portable, and cost-effective alternative to conventional functional imaging techniques such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). However, optical imaging does not inherently capture anatomical details and relies on existing structural imaging to generate accurate brain maps. By employing head models that incorporate participant-specific anatomy, imaging array placement, and the optical properties of underlying tissues, optical functional brain mapping can achieve results comparable to those of fMRI. Despite advances in registration techniques, the creation of atlas-derived yet participant-specific head models remains a significant challenge. My research endeavors to develop innovative registration and analysis pipelines …

[Abstract And Associated Files For] Multi-Variable Monte Carlo Simulation For Portfolio Analysis In Excel, Tom Arnold, C. Mitchell Conover, Joseph Farizo, Nancy Tran
Finance Faculty Publications
Monte Carlo (MC) simulation has several applications in finance, including risk management, valuation, and portfolio management. In this paper, we use multiple correlated Geometric Brownian motion (GBM) processes that allow for very robust portfolio analysis. In this treatment, five correlated funds make up a portfolio. MC is used to not only forecast possible future portfolio and fund outcomes, but to also evaluate the benefits and costs of a hedging strategy and to consider the effects of different correlation structures between the funds on portfolio performance. Because the programming is in Excel, the analysis is very accessible and available to analysts …

The court imposed massive civil penalties of $2,124,845 against the landlord and its principals for their failure to correct 148 open housing violations and for harassing tenants. The landlord failed to comply with multiple court orders to fix the conditions and to participate in pre-trial discovery, and the court found its defenses to be without merit. The court relied on the DHPD website as prima facie evidence of the violations' continued existence. The judgment was entered as a lien against the building. The petition was dismissed against three of the named respondents who were found to have no legal connection …
Open And Timely Public Access To Final, Citable U.S. Case Law: A Progress Report, Peter W. Martin
Open And Timely Public Access To Final, Citable U.S. Case Law: A Progress Report, Peter W. Martin
Cornell Law Faculty Publications
By the early 1990s, numerous advantages of disseminating legal information electronically instead of in print had become widely recognized. These included the potential for faster and wider access and increased competition. To maximize those gains, the American Association of Law Libraries and American Bar Association recommended that the nation’s court systems adopt public (non-proprietary) systems of case citation that could function readily regardless of medium. A few had already headed down that path. In the years since, others have followed.
This article traces the progress of that movement and describes a less conspicuous alternative more recently implemented in a number …
Understanding And Addressing Chronic Absenteeism: Interviewing Parents Of Chronically Absent Students, Patrick Stickley
Understanding And Addressing Chronic Absenteeism: Interviewing Parents Of Chronically Absent Students, Patrick Stickley
LMU Theses and Dissertations
Understanding and Addressing Chronic Absenteeism: Interviewing Parents of Chronically Absent Students The more any child is chronically absent from school, opportunities dwindle for growth academically, intellectually, and socially (Gottfried, 2014). The problem is finding long term solutions to chronic absenteeism. A large percentage of chronically absent students are from the marginalized Black and Latinx student groups, creating a dire social justice situation for those students and their communities (Allison et al., 2019). This purpose of this qualitative study was to find reasons for and suggestions to address the wicked problem of chronic absenteeism by interviewing parents of chronically absent students. …

Resurgent Education In Native American Catholic Schools: The Stories Of Indigenous Educators Who Attended Boarding Schools, William Newkirk
LMU Theses and Dissertations
Although news coverage has discussed the history of Native American boarding schools with more attention, a problematic lack of Native voice has continued to remain in these discussions. In particular, the perspectives of former students of boarding schools are too often missing. Further, there are former residential school students teaching in Native American Catholic schools whose stories and experiences have not yet been documented. This research was not meant to strictly learn from their time as students in the schools, but also their perspectives and successes found within their time as educators. They are teachers with deeply important historical experiences, …

Quality Improvement Project Improving Self-Efficacy Among Urgent Care Staff Through Medication Reconciliation Education, Jana M. Combs
Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
Medication errors and adverse drug reactions (ADR) are a significant source of preventable harm in healthcare, and failure to complete proper medication reconciliation is a contributing factor. Despite multiple interventions aimed at addressing this issue, no standardized plan has been implemented universally. Outpatient urgent care sites pose as high-risk environments for failed medication reconciliations due to the nature of the setting, but staff are in prime positions to adjust this culture. This project aimed to enhance staff self-efficacy in medication reconciliation over four weeks through an evidence-based educational program, with the goal of improving patient safety and outcomes. Using a …
