Ptsd Symptoms Moderate Predictors Of Psychophysiological Arousal During Fear Inhibition: Evidence From A Fear, Reward, And Neutral Discrimination Task, Jacklynn M. Fitzgerald, E. Kate Webb, Kaley Davis, Meghan Bennett, Tristan Benjamin, Boiana Pegau, Susan Sangha

Psychology Faculty Research and Publications

The ability to distinguish between threatening, rewarding, and neutral cues is adaptative and crucial for survival. However, individuals with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) often show poor knowledge of cue contingencies and heightened fear responses even in the presence of cues that signify safety, potentially due to atypical perceptions of neutral cues. We investigated whether perceiving neutral cues as more rewarding or threatening influences conditioned inhibition of fear and whether PTSD symptoms moderate this relationship. Trauma-exposed adults (N = 84; 64 % female; 76 % non-Hispanic white) completed a Fear, Reward, and Neutral Discrimination (FRND) Task involving geometric shapes paired with …

Few reports have highlighted the rare presence of somatic ATRX variants in clinically aggressive, metastatic pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma (PCC/PGL); however, none have addressed detailed clinical presentation (including biochemistry and imaging) and management of these patients. Here, we address these clinical features and management based on four PCC patients with somatic ATRX variants from our National Institutes of Health PCC/PGL cohort. A total of 192 patients underwent exome sequencing (germline, somatic, or both), and four males were found to have somatic ATRX variants (with additional somatic VHL and FH oncogenic variants in patients 2 and 4, respectively). Per-lesion and per-patient comparisons were performed …

The Palestinian-Israeli conflict is seen as one of the most serious and controversial issues in the world. In this paper, the researcher seeks to highlight some crucial points with regard to this conflict by adopting critical discourse analysis (CDA) as the primary means of analysis. Since conflicts are usually accompanied by social wrongs, it is more appropriate to use Fairclough’s 2010 approach to CDA in order to get more logical results. However, the study aims to provide a critical analysis of two selected interview by two famous figures; Ian Bremmer and Noam Chomsky in order to highlight the following points: …

Perception Of The Toefl Prediction Test Of Tbi Students Batch 2021 Uin Datokarama Palu, Nur Aida Kasi Nanda, Ruslin Ruslin, Zuhra Zuhra, Naima Naima, Noval Afandy

Jurnal Pendidikan: Teori, Penelitian, dan Pengembangan

TOEFL Prediction is widely used in Indonesian higher education as a preparatory tool, yet students’ perceptions of the TOEFL test remain rarely explored. This qualitative case study involved ten English Education students (batch 2021) at UIN Datokarama Palu. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and document analysis, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model. Four indicators emerged: readiness and confidence, test-taking experience, motivation, and perceived fairness. Students valued TOEFL Prediction as a diagnostic tool, but faced challenges such as anxiety, technical issues, and limited vocabulary. TOEFL Prediction functions both as formative assessment and a motivational catalyst for learning.
