The Russian military invasion of Ukraine surprisingly impacted the world's geopolitical situation. The conflict that started at the end of February is ongoing and potentially disrupts economic and trade performance in the global sector, including Indonesia. The battle has the opportunity to increase some food commodity prices, thus hampering the total imports carried out. In addition, other leading commodities (non-oil and gas) such as gold, oil, and coal will also experience significant turmoil due to the conflict that has continued to heat up recently. The study provides an overview of the systemic impact on Indonesia's economic conditions by predicting the …

A country with a small open economy is unlikely to simultaneously achieve monetary independence, exchange rate stability, and financial integration. In Mundell Fleming's trilemma hypothesis, the three goals are trade-offs. Therefore, this study aims to identify the combination of the Mundell Fleming trilemma in middle-income countries from 1995 to 2017 with the panel Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model. This estimation method will provide an overview of the combination of Mundell Fleming's trilemma in the short and long term. The results of this study indicate that the Mundell-Fleming trilemma tends to converge in the short run. While on the long run, …

Stateful News Ranking To Prioritize Novel Content For Repeat Queries, Deep Shah, Aditya Bhandari
Defensive Publications Series
A method for stateful ranking of search results may be used to prioritize novel content when a user repeats a query, for example, for a developing news story. A system can establish a "context timestamp" based on a user's most recent prior query on a topic. The system may then identify "context results," which can be items published before this timestamp, and "latest results," which can be items published after it. To differentiate new information, the system may computationally compare the latest results to the context results, for instance, by generating vector embeddings and identifying latest results with a similarity …

Generating Context-Aware Code-Switched Text Using Probabilistic Modeling And Generative Refinement, Mithun Kumar S R
Defensive Publications Series
Artificial intelligence models can experience difficulty understanding and generating code-switched text, and some existing synthetic data generation methods can produce grammatically incorrect or unnatural-sounding results. This disclosure describes a multi-stage system for generating code-switched text from monolingual corpora. The method can employ a probabilistic constraint model to analyze a source sentence and identify syntactically and semantically appropriate points for a language switch. Based on these identified points, a candidate generation engine can create one or more raw code-switched sentences. A large generative model may then refine these raw candidates to address potential grammatical errors at the language junction and improve …

After the US Supreme Court eliminated the federal constitutional right to abortion in 2022, several high-profile legal fights have centered on US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) oversight of mifepristone. Mifepristone (200 mg) is approved, in a regimen with misoprostol, for the medical termination of intrauterine pregnancy through 70 days' gestation. Legal battles over Mifepristone have included a lawsuit challenging the FDA’s initial approval of the drug and the sufficiency of FDA-required restrictions on the drug, as well as lawsuits arguing, to the contrary, that FDA-required restrictions are unnecessary and must be eliminated.
