Predicting Georgia Professional Standards Commission Instructional Technology Certification: A Quantitative Predictive-Correlational Study Of Georgia School Librarians’ Technology Self-Efficacy And Anxiety Levels, Ashley Osby Dec 2025

Predicting Georgia Professional Standards Commission Instructional Technology Certification: A Quantitative Predictive-Correlational Study Of Georgia School Librarians’ Technology Self-Efficacy And Anxiety Levels, Ashley Osby

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

This quantitative, predictive-correlational study examined the relationship between Georgia school librarians' technology self-efficacy, their anxiety levels, and whether they held a Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) instructional technology certification. The expanding role of the school librarian has increased demands for technology integration, which can lead to heightened anxiety and lower self-efficacy. This study was significant as its findings can inform professional development and university coursework designed to better equip school librarians for these evolving responsibilities. A convenience sample of 70 certified school librarians working in public K-12 schools across Georgia were recruited through the Georgia Library Media Association (GLMA) listserv. …

The interpretation of genetic variants in inherited diseases, such as inherited platelet disorders (IPDs), remains a major clinical challenge, as most are classified as variants of uncertain significance (VUSs). A key barrier to functional evaluation is the lack of accessible, lineage-appropriate assays that reliably reflect native gene regulation and cell-specific biology. To address this gap, we developed CRIMSON HD (CRISPR-edited megakaryocytes [MKs] for surveying platelet variant functions through homology-directed repair [HDR]), a CRISPR-Cas9 HDR-based genome-editing platform applicable to CD34

The interplay between brain metabolism and function supports the brain's adaptive capacity in cognitively demanding processes. Prior work has linked glucose metabolism to resting-state fMRI activity, but often overlooks both hemodynamic confounders in the BOLD signal and the brain's dynamic nature. To address this, we employed a novel effective connectivity decomposition, separating symmetric partial covariance, capturing "true" statistical dependencies between regions, from antisymmetric differential covariance, reflecting directional brain flow. In 42 healthy subjects, we show that partial covariance corresponds to metabolic connectivity across regions, while node directionality relates to standardized uptake value ratio, a proxy for local glucose consumption. We …

2017 Rocky Mountain National Park Research Conference, United States Department Of Interior

Rocky Mountain National Park

The work highlighted by this conference addresses key issues, including climate change, the spread of exotic plants, large scale restoration needs, environmental contaminants and disease, a need for greater relevancy to youth, and inadequate capacity to keep pace with growing visitation. The NPS Director's Order "Resource Stewardship for the 21st Century" directs park managers to steward resources for continuous change that is not yet fully understood. This challenge makes research, learning, and engagement at local to global scales more important than ever. The magnitude of issues and opportunities currently facing park managers is reflected in the breadth and depth of …

Gamification Of A Bimanual Coordination Task, Robby Johnson, Caeden Kidd, Johnathan Oestringer, Jaylin Pigeon, Brandon Woolman

Infinite Loop

Video games are a promising future for research and development. A new way to measure motor skills is to use robots to test individuals. This technology is incredible and has helped the medical field, but there must be a way to allow individuals to use this technology in a similar and affordable manner. Space Trash is a game that was developed with the intent to gamify the object hit detection that is used in the Kin Arm Robot with the intent to see if a person will show signs of Alzheimer’s. The goal is to not only be able to …

Navigating The Graduate Student Experience: Grit, Growth, And Persistence, Magdalen Kramer, Mitchell Buerkle, Heather Arlen, Ali Gravelle, Eli Bruess

The Journal of Advancing Education Practice

Graduate students navigate challenges in higher education with determination and tenacity. Postgraduate studies are enticing for career and personal advancement, but with an attrition rate of 12 – 26%, even the best students fail. The expectation and pressure to maintain high academic standards are often daunting. Many graduate students battle with emotional health and feelings of isolation, work-life balance, asynchronous learning, and other invisible factors, but still manage to find motivation to persist. We used personal experiences, information, and insight from our Winona State University leadership communication class to examine potential difficulties graduate students face. We backed our findings with …

Leading With Joy And Purpose, Sonika Masih Dr., Krsiti Oeding Dr. Dec 2025

Leading With Joy And Purpose, Sonika Masih Dr., Krsiti Oeding Dr.

The Journal of Advancing Education Practice

In academia, success is often defined by achievements such as publications, tenure, and promotions. However, a performance-driven culture overshadows joy and purpose, leading to burnout and disengagement. Recent studies reveal that over 64% of faculty report high levels of burnout, with even higher rates among women and minority professors (Vyletel et al., 2023). This paper, Leading with Joy and Purpose, explores how fostering an emotional culture of joy enhances educator well-being, retention, and institutional success. Drawing on research by Dixon (2022), Whitsed et al. (2022, 2024), and Aboramadan et al. (2023), how psychological safety, recognition, autonomy, and meaningful connection to …

Educating The Whole Child: The Essential Role Of School-Based Mental Health Partnerships In Student Success, Kellye Palmer Dec 2025

Educating The Whole Child: The Essential Role Of School-Based Mental Health Partnerships In Student Success, Kellye Palmer

The Journal of Advancing Education Practice

Schools are uniquely positioned to serve as gateways for mental health access, yet many educational systems continue to treat mental wellness as secondary to academic instruction. This paper argues that school-based mental health partnerships are as essential to student success as physical education or standardized assessment. Drawing from the author’s experience coordinating behavioral health services within Baltimore County Public Schools, the discussion highlights how integrated partnerships between schools and clinicians reduce barriers to care, improve collaboration among educators and families, and foster early intervention. The paper also addresses the risks of unrecognized mental health needs being misidentified as behavioral or …

Truth, Trials, And Triumphs Of The Tenure Journey: Faculty Of Color In Higher Education, Derrick E. Crim Dec 2025

Truth, Trials, And Triumphs Of The Tenure Journey: Faculty Of Color In Higher Education, Derrick E. Crim

The Journal of Advancing Education Practice

Faculty of Color (FOC) face tough challenges when it comes to earning tenure and promotions. Problems like systemic inequities and biased evaluations make it harder for institutions to uphold trust and fully benefit from the diversity FOC bring. These faculty members often bring fresh perspectives shaped by their unique journeys, enriching academic spaces. Fitting into the exclusive social circles and culture of academia takes a lot of resilience and confidence. Further, issues like isolation, tokenism, and racism make things even tougher. Isolation stems from the lack of representation and supportive communities, while tokenism creates extra service demands without proper recognition. …
