Roles Of School Library In The Education Of African Child In Nigeria, Peter Olubunmi Olubiyo, Lydia Mercy Olubiyo
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
School libraries have been seen as parts of the most effective ways of renewing education because of their roles in transforming changes in children’s reading abilities in which girls and boys everywhere are meant to learn how to read and write. As such, one of the significant purposes of the school library is to aid students develop love for reading, and to promote reading culture among its users. This implies the need to create the awareness of information resources, the need to read not only textbooks, but also to engage in creative, leisurely, and pleasurable reading. However, the paper discussed …

School of Natural Resources: Faculty Publications
Ground solar-induced chlorophyll fluorescence (SIF) is important for the mechanistic understanding of the dynamics of vegetation gross primary production (GPP) at fine spatiotemporal scales. However, eddy covariance (EC) observations generally cover larger footprint areas than ground SIF observations (a bare fiber with nadir), and this footprint mismatch between nadir SIF and GPP could complicate the canopy SIF-GPP relationships. Here, we upscaled nadir SIF observations to EC footprint and investigated the change in SIF-GPP relationships after the upscaling in cropland. We included 13 site-years data in our study, with seven site-years corn, four siteyears soybeans, and two site-years miscanthus, all located …

Marine Science Faculty Publications and Presentations
Ocean warming is increasingly affecting marine ecosystems across the globe. Reef-building corals are particularly affected by warming, with mass bleaching events increasing in frequency and leading to widespread coral mortality. Yet, some corals can resist or recover from bleaching better than others. Such variability in thermal resilience could be critical to reef persistence; however, the scientific community lacks standardized diagnostic approaches to rapidly and comparatively assess coral thermal vulnerability prior to bleaching events. We present the Coral Bleaching Automated Stress System (CBASS) as a low-cost, open-source, field-portable experimental system for rapid empirical assessment of coral thermal thresholds using standardized temperature …

Exercise As A Prescription For Patients With Depressive Disorders: A Quality Improvement Project, Sydney Roscoe, Rachelle Pace
Doctor of Nursing Practice Final Manuscripts
Purpose: The aim of this Doctor of Nursing Practice project was to increase exercise counseling rates in the treatment of depression by (1) implementing a focused educational training program and (2) understanding factors that impacted utilization of the practice change.
Background: Approximately 280 million individuals suffer globally from depressive disorders. Depression remains the fourth leading cause of disabilities, significantly contributing toward the global burden of disease by increasing morbidity and mortality risk. Psychopharmacology and psychotherapy are current gold standards of treatment; however, providers often overlook the significant role exercise serves in reducing depressive symptoms and severity, as it remains underutilized. …

Managing Menopausal Symptoms Through Exercise And Dietary Changes, Ae Rah Kang
Managing Menopausal Symptoms Through Exercise And Dietary Changes, Ae Rah Kang
Doctor of Nursing Practice Final Manuscripts
Background: The most critical aging stage for women is the menopausal transition period, which causes various symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, sleeping disturbance, and mood swings that lower women's quality of life. Menopausal symptoms that are not managed can exacerbate severe medical conditions such as cardiovascular disease, bone illnesses, neurological diseases, and psychosocial problems. As the first non-pharmacological treatment for menopausal syndrome, several studies have shown that regular exercise and diet control can potentially improve menopausal symptoms and the quality of life.
Purpose: This project aimed to examine the effect of improving the quality of life by reducing …

Background: Sepsis is the cause of death of half of all admissions in the United States (Rhee, 2019). Medicare has adopted guidelines from the surviving sepsis campaign and labeled them the “The Severe Sepsis and Septic Shock Management Bundle (SEP-1) guideline to address the care required to try to reduce mortality involving septic patients. This bundle has an all or none feature that suggests every patient presenting with septic shock receives 30 ml/kg of normal saline as a bolus. (Medicare, 2021). One must document medical reason for not providing this bolus. Inferior vena cava point of care ultrasound (IVC POCUS) …
