Degenerative diseases associated with oxidative stress necessitate the development of effective antioxidant therapies. Alstonia scholaris, a medicinal plant known for its diverse pharmacological properties, was investigated for its antioxidant potential using computational approaches. This study employed molecular docking to evaluate the interactions between bioactive compounds from Alstonia scholaris and key antioxidant target proteins, including lipoxygenase, CYP2C9, NADPH oxidase, and bovine serum albumin. Pharmacokinetic analyses based on Lipinski’s Rule of Five, along with toxicity assessments, were conducted to evaluate the compounds’ drug-likeness and safety profiles. The results demonstrated that (+)-Dicentrine exhibited the strongest and most stable binding affinity toward lipoxygenase …

Fruit ripening in melon (Cucumis melo L.) is a complex developmental process that is characterized by the coexistence of climacteric and non-climacteric varieties within the same species. This study characterized the ripening behavior of four local Indonesian melon cultivars (“Melona”, “GMP”, “Tacapa Gold”, and “Kinaya”) by integrating morphophysio-logical traits with transcriptional expression analysis of ethylene biosynthesis (CmACS, CmACO) and signaling (CmATH, CmEREBP) genes. The results revealed a strong agreement between the phenotypic traits and molecular regulation. “Melona” and “GMP” exhibited a strong climacteric profile, which was characterized by natural fruit abscission, sweet aroma …

Makara Journal of Science
Decaffeinated green coffee and turmeric are recognized for their protective effects against hypertension (HTN) and diabetes mellitus (DM). Combining them into a functional drink, green coffee and turmeric (GCT), offers potential health benefits for managing these conditions. This study explored the bioactivity of GCT in HTN and DM through network biology, identifying intersecting protein targets and their roles in inflammation and glucose metabolism. Key proteins identified were AKT1, CCL2, CXCL8, IL-1β, and IL18. Molecular docking revealed that GCT compounds, particularly Cafestol, Chlorogenic Acid, Kahweol, Curcumin, and Desmethoxycurcumin, interacted strongly with AKT1 at its allosteric site, potentially inhibiting its activity. However, …

Earth and Environmental Sciences Publications
Willis Mountain, near Dillwyn in central Virginia, is the world’s largest kyanite deposit located in the Chopawamsic Fm. of the Piedmont province. However, little is known about the temperature and pressure conditions under which the kyanite deposit and its surrounding rocks formed, compared with similar-aged rocks in the Blue Ridge province to the southwest. Willis Mountain is composed of kyanite-bearing muscovite schists to kyanite quartzites which contain up to 55% kyanite. The following methods were used to evaluate the metamorphic conditions, with multiple calibrations for each: phase equilibrium modelling; trace element thermometry (titanium in quartz and zirconium in rutile); garnet-biotite …
Integration Of The Kidney Failure Risk Equation To Guide Nephrology Referral In Adults With Chronic Hypertension, Shawn A. Siddiqi
Integration Of The Kidney Failure Risk Equation To Guide Nephrology Referral In Adults With Chronic Hypertension, Shawn A. Siddiqi
Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
Chronic hypertension is an established risk factor for chronic kidney disease (CKD). Baseline chart review at a Texas family practice clinic showed inconsistent renal risk documentation, and providers did not use a standardized renal risk-stratification tool to guide nephrology referral. The aim of this quality improvement project was to implement a standardized Kidney Failure Risk Equation (KFRE) workflow to improve renal risk documentation, nephrology referral decision-making, and provider self-efficacy for adults with chronic hypertension over eight weeks. Lewin's Change Theory guided practice change, the Donabedian model guided quality evaluation, and the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle structured implementation. Three providers (one physician, …

Journal of Environmental Science and Sustainable Development
Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority (OJK)’s sustainable finance roadmap, phases I and II, primarily aims to facilitate sustainable development by integrating economic, social, and environmental considerations into financial policies. A special objective is to promote the development of green financial products and services. This policy allows banks to mitigate reputational and regulatory challenges. Nevertheless, the prompt implementation of green credit may entail transition risks, such as policy adjustment costs. A limited body of research examines the direct relationship between green finance and bank risk, particularly in the context of sustainability mandates. This study analyzes the influence of green finance on banking …

Perceptions Of Correctional Officers In Prison Environments And The Coping Mechanisms They Use To Support Work–Life Balance, Amiee C. Ruger
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
This qualitative study explored correctional officers’ lived experiences with occupational stress, coping strategies, work–life balance, and psychological well-being. The purpose of the study was to better understand correctional officers’ experiences working in high-stress correctional environments, including how they experienced and managed occupational stress, as well as the factors that influenced their psychological well-being. The Yerkes-Dodson law, Nixon’s human function curve, and the transactional model of stress and coping provided the theoretical framework for the study. Eight correctional officers were recruited using purposive and snowball sampling techniques. Semistructured interviews were conducted through the online meeting platform Zoom, and the data were …

Intimate Partner Violence And Child Wasting Across Countries: An Ecological Cross-Sectional Study, Wanri Lumbanraja, I Ketut Kasta Arya Wijaya, Ruben Cornelius Siagian
Journal of Indonesian Health Policy and Administration
Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a public health issue that can affect the well-being of women, their families, and the child-rearing environment. Meanwhile, wasting in under-five children reflects acute malnutrition linked to food insecurity, infectious diseases, poverty, and access to healthcare services. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the prevalence of IPV among women in the past 12 months and the prevalence of wasting in children under the age of five at the national level. This study addresses the gap in cross-national research, which remains limited in linking IPV as an indicator of social vulnerability with wasting as …
Radical Right Ideologues In The Age Of Trump: Heralds Of Nihilism, By Ronald Beiner. Routledge, 2026. 160 Pages. $57.99. Isbn 978-1041126812, Joan Braune
Journal of Hate Studies
Philosopher Joan Braune reviews Ronald Beiner’s Radical Right Ideologues in the Age of Trump: Heralds of Nihilism, which examines how fascist ideologues such as Steve Bannon, Aleksandr Dugin, Jason Jorjani, and Costin Alamariu (known online as “Bronze Age Pervert”), invoke philosophers, including Plato, Nietzsche, and Heidegger, in their arguments. It also considers why traditional philosophy departments have hesitated to acknowledge the use of philosophers in right-wing movements and how Beiner manages the risk of validating fascism as intellectual by studying the topic.
On Christian Nationalism: Critical And Theological Perspectives, Edited By David M. Gides And Joan Braune. Routledge, 2026. Routledge Studies In Fascism And The Far Right. 406 Pages. $46.39 Isbn 978-1032805665, Kim Shively

Anthropologist Kim Shively reviews On Christian Nationalism: Critical and Theological Perspectives, edited by David M. Gides, a theologian, and Joan Braune, a philosopher. Nineteen authors contribute essays on four topics: defining Christian nationalism, trends in the United States, international and comparative analyses, and theological responses to Christian nationalism. Christian nationalism is a platform for grievance, the contributors argue, and the theme of loss runs throughout the book: nostalgia for an imagined social history and loss or perceived loss of White privilege, with its attendant racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, sexism, and homophobia.

Journal of Hate Studies
Political scientist Dov Waxman reviews Antisemitism: What Everyone Needs to Know, authored by David Harris, former chair of the American Jewish Committee. Part of Oxford University Press’s What Everyone Needs to Know series aimed at general readers, the book provides a basic history of antisemitism through the present, including explaining its relationship to the Holocaust, but it devotes much more attention to what the author alleges is antisemitism on the left, particularly concerning Israel, than to antisemitism on the Far Right, and it fails to engage with or reflect contemporary scholarship on antisemitism.

Children No More: Were And Are Gone. Produced By Sheila Nevins, Yael Melamede And Hilla Medalia; Directed By Hilla Medalia. English. 2026; Color; 36 Minutes. Full Story Films, Medalia Productions, And Salty Features, Muzna Rahman
Journal of Hate Studies
Postcolonial studies scholar Muzna Rahman reviews Children No More: Were and Are Gone, Hilla Medalia’s Academy Award-nominated short documentary. The film documents pro-peace Israeli activists who gather regularly in Tel Avivi to hold a silent vigil for Palestinian children killed by Israel forces. Against the backdrop of everyday urban life, the protestors simply hold photos of the children, commemorating their lives rather than their brutal deaths. The images of Palestinian children held by Israeli activities highlights the similarities between the groups, while the rage of passersby reveals the danger that Israelis who advocate for peace face in their work.
Man Up: The New Misogyny And The Rise Of Violent Extremism, By Cynthia Miller-Idriss. Princeton University Press, 2025. 344 Pages. $29.95. Isbn: 978-0691257549, Caron E. Gentry

Journal of Hate Studies
Sociologist Stephanie M. Ortiz reviews Rob Eschmann’s When the Hood Comes Off: Racism and Resistance in the Digital Age, which examines how the internet reorganizes the conditions under which racism is expressed, with a focus on higher education. This reorganization allows hate to flourish online even as racism is disavowed in public. Online and offline spaces are not disconnected, though, and digital revelations—revealed when “the hood comes off”—shape offline relationships, institutional trust, campus climate, and students’ sense of safety.

Tart cherry (Prunus cerasus) and sweet cherry (P. avium) are important commercial crops and popular backyard trees. Tart cherries are commonly processed into dried or canned products, while sweet cherries are generally eaten fresh. Organic cherry production in the Intermountain West can be challenging because of pests such as western cherry fruit fly and arid growing conditions. However, with careful planning and appropriate management practices, it is possible to produce a good crop using organic pest management strategies. This fact sheet outlines general, pest, and disease management options.
