Leadership Styles And Information Security Policy Compliance Intentions: The Mediating Role Of Psychological Empowerment, David Sikolia, Andy Luse May 2026

Leadership Styles And Information Security Policy Compliance Intentions: The Mediating Role Of Psychological Empowerment, David Sikolia, Andy Luse

Faculty Submissions

This study extends prior research on psychological empowerment and information security policy (ISP) compliance by examining whether transformational and transactional leadership influence employees' compliance intentions indirectly through psychological empowerment.

Data were collected from a convenience sample of 119 employed individuals enrolled in a US MBA program. The model was estimated using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Psychological empowerment was modeled as a second-order construct comprising meaning, competence, self-determination, and impact. Indirect effects were assessed with 5,000 bootstrap resamples and 95% bootstrap confidence intervals.

Both transformational and transactional leadership were positively associated with psychological empowerment, and psychological empowerment strongly …

Is The School Environment The Leading Cause Of The Rise In Burnout Rates Among Tenured Teachers?, Jazalyn A. Brown May 2026

Is The School Environment The Leading Cause Of The Rise In Burnout Rates Among Tenured Teachers?, Jazalyn A. Brown

Honors College Theses

Teacher burnout has become an increasingly significant issue within the field of education, affecting not only teachers themselves but also the learning environments within schools. Many educators face growing pressures, including overwhelming workloads, limited resources, and a lack of consistent administrative support, which can lead to emotional exhaustion and frustration over time. As more teachers report experiencing burnout or leaving the profession altogether, it becomes increasingly important to better understand the factors that contribute to this issue and how schools can respond to it. This thesis explores how school environments and leadership practices influence teacher burnout and why stronger support …

The Priene Synagogue Community And Jewish Diaspora Prominence In Late Antique Cities, Amari Pavati May 2026

The Priene Synagogue Community And Jewish Diaspora Prominence In Late Antique Cities, Amari Pavati

Undergraduate Honors Theses

The late antique synagogue of Priene, like other synagogues in the region and potentially beyond, acted as an “urban center” for the community it served. I argue that the urban context of diaspora synagogues like the Priene synagogue has been under explored, and that analysis of Jewish communities within their changing urban contexts reveals the place of Jewish communities within late antique society. Synagogues served multiple functions for their communities, some visible from archaeological evidence and other known from textual evidence. The Priene synagogue, for example, was laid out and artistically decorated to mark the central, sacred nave as separate …

Seasonal Variation And Size Distribution Of Particulate Matter In The Mississippi Delta: Implications For Source Attribution, Abigail E. Barnett May 2026

Seasonal Variation And Size Distribution Of Particulate Matter In The Mississippi Delta: Implications For Source Attribution, Abigail E. Barnett

Honors Theses

This study examines seasonal patterns of particulate matter in the Mississippi Delta using data from PurpleAir sensors, with a focus on particle size distributions across PM₁.₀, PM₂.₅, and PM₁₀. The purpose of this research is to evaluate whether particulate trends in the region reflect signatures consistent with wildfire smoke or are better explained by local environmental and agricultural factors.

Daily average concentrations were analyzed and grouped by season to compare spring and summer conditions. Results show that all particle size fractions increased from spring to summer. However, PM₁₀ concentrations remained consistently higher than PM₂.₅ in both seasons. The PM₂.₅/PM₁₀ ratio …

A Remote Sensing Approach To Identifying Zones Of Instability In Mine Tailings Impoundments Using Multi-Sensor Satellite Data, Arden K. Pierce May 2026

A Remote Sensing Approach To Identifying Zones Of Instability In Mine Tailings Impoundments Using Multi-Sensor Satellite Data, Arden K. Pierce

Honors Theses

Mine tailings impoundments are structures built to contain the chemical and sedimentary byproducts generated by ore extraction activities. In this common method of mining waste storage, the tailings can be pumped into containment ponds and held behind earthen embankments to prevent the release of hazardous substances into the surrounding environment. Monitoring environmental factors that influence the structural integrity of these impoundments is essential for identifying areas vulnerable to instability and failure. Soil moisture is a factor that can affect the stability of mine tailings impoundment structures. This study evaluates the relationship between satellite-derived soil moisture and surface deformation at mine …

Hiit Vs. Mict: Effects On Predicted Vo2 Max & Body Fat Percentage In Adults (8 Weeks), Rebekah Holden

Doctorate in Kinesiology

The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) compared to Moderate-Intensity Continuous Training (MICT) on predicted VO2 max and body fat percentage in adults over an 8-week period. Despite the World Health Organization’s physical activity recommendations, nearly 1.4 billion people fail to meet these goals, primarily due to time constraints, contributing to a 30% global increase in obesity. Cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) is a definitive predictor of all-cause mortality; however, research remains divided on whether low-volume HIIT or traditional MICT is superior for metabolic and cardiovascular adaptation in non-clinical populations. This study compared the …

Cd8+ T Cell Differentiation Into Nk-Like Effector Cells Drives Transplant Rejection, Dawei Zou, Stephanie G Yi, Yulin Dai, Luan Truong, Lillian W Gaber, Richard J Knight, Xiang Xiao, Rafik M Ghobrial, Xian C Li, Zhongming Zhao, Wenhao Chen, A Osama Gaber

Faculty, Staff and Student Publications

T cells are central drivers of transplant rejection, yet the differentiation fates underlying this process remain unclear. Using single-cell transcriptomic profiling of human kidney allograft biopsies, we identified a predominant infiltrating CD8+ T cell subset exhibiting killer cell lectin-like receptor (KLR)+ NK-like features. Mechanistic studies in mice showed that the KLR+ subset emerged de novo post-transplantation and dominated the CD8+ T cell infiltrate in rejecting allografts. These NK-like CD8+ T cells expressed high levels of interferon regulatory factor 4 (IRF4), and Irf4 deletion disrupted their differentiation and induced transplant acceptance. Therapeutically, either costimulation blockade or mTOR inhibition substantially reduced the …

Monitoring Groundwater Flow At Old Works Using Anisotropy, 3-D Electrical Geophysics, And Dem-Based Terrain Analysis, Yihaun Gao May 2026

Monitoring Groundwater Flow At Old Works Using Anisotropy, 3-D Electrical Geophysics, And Dem-Based Terrain Analysis, Yihaun Gao

Honors Theses

Groundwater flow in shallow heterogeneous environments is often difficult to characterize using a single geophysical method. This study applies an integrated approach combining azimuthal resistivity anisotropy, self-potential (SP) measurements, DEM-derived terrain indices, and three-dimensional electrical resistivity tomography (3-D ERT) to delineate preferential groundwater pathways at the Old Works Golf Course in Anaconda, Montana. Azimuthal anisotropy analysis from eighteen 2-D ERT profiles revealed a dominant directional dependence in electrical conductivity, indicating a structural or sedimentological control on subsurface flow. The anisotropy results indicate a preferred conductivity direction of approximately 200°–210° in azimuth (0° is north), suggesting that groundwater movement is guided …

Heavy metal concentrations (Mn, Zn, …

Interpreting American Sign Language: A Literature Review Of Assistive Technologies, Natalie Louise Paradiso, Emma Grace Kochenderfer May 2026

Interpreting American Sign Language: A Literature Review Of Assistive Technologies, Natalie Louise Paradiso, Emma Grace Kochenderfer

Student Scholar Symposium Abstracts and Posters

American Sign Language (ASL) is a visually elaborate, spatially oriented linguistic methodology that relies on combinations of hand movements, body positioning, facial expressions, and motion/spatial perception, aspects of which make interpretation difficult for automated machine recognition. Current assistive technology approaches to ASL interpretation are generally within the categories of computer vision models (including deep learning, multi-focus image fusion, and keypoint tracking) and wearable, multimodal/sensor-based approaches (such as smart glasses and inertial-sensor gloves). Within controlled environments, computer vision models perform well. However, when applied to conditions such as non-manual signs/features, signer variability, and rapid assimilation, they falter in processing all aspects …
