Proportion Of Nilpotent Subgroups In Finite Groups And Their Properties, João Victor Monteiros De Andrade, Leonardo Santos Da Cruz
Proportion Of Nilpotent Subgroups In Finite Groups And Their Properties, João Victor Monteiros De Andrade, Leonardo Santos Da Cruz
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
This work introduces and investigates the function J(G) = Nil(G) / L(G) , where Nil(G) denotes the number of nilpotent subgroups and L(G) the total number of subgroups of a finite group G. The function J(G), defined on the interval (0,1], represents the proportion of nilpotent subgroups relative to the total number of subgroups, including trivial ones. It serves as a tool for analyzing structural patterns in finite groups, particularly in nonnilpotent families such as supersolvable and dihedral groups. Analytical results reveal the distribution of J(G) values across products of dihedral groups, emphasizing its density over (0,1]. Additionally, a probabilistic …

Optimal Control Of An Inverse Two-Point Boundary Value Problem For A Pseudoparabolic Equation With Samarskii–Ionkin-Type Boundary Conditions, Khanlar R. Mamedov, Tursun K. Yuldashev, Zholdoshbek Zh. Shermamatov
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
This paper investigates an inverse optimal control problem for a pseudoparabolic equation governed by nonlinear control function in a two-point boundary condition. The differential equation is considered under Samarskii Ionkin-type boundary value conditions with respect to the spatial variable x. Necessary optimality conditions are derived, and the associated nonlinear functional equations are analyzed. Using the contraction mapping principle, the existence and uniqueness of the control function are established. Subsequently, the redefinition function and the state function are determined. The convergence of their respective Fourier series representations is rigorously proven.
Close-To-Convexity Properties Of Inverse Hypergeometric Functions, Ijlal Hussain, Wasim Ul Haq, Janusz Sokol
Close-To-Convexity Properties Of Inverse Hypergeometric Functions, Ijlal Hussain, Wasim Ul Haq, Janusz Sokol
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
The normalized inverse hypergeometric function zFν−1(d, e, f; z) = ∑s=0∞ Aszs+1 is considered, where As = (f)s(ν + 1)s / (d)s(e)s. We aim to provide constraints on d, e, f, and ν under which zFν−1(d, e, f; z) belongs to various subclasses of the class of close-to-convex functions. Coefficient characterizations of these families are derived under additional conditions. Some associated operators …

Ricci Solitons On Manifolds With Norden Golden Structure, Bang-Yen Chen, Foued Aloui, Mohammed Nisar, Majid Ali Choudhary
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
The concept of golden structure is a compelling area with wide-ranging applications. In this paper, we introduce and investigate the notion of Norden golden Ricci solitons. In particular, we investigate Ricci solitons on a Norden golden Riemannian manifold of constant sectional curvature. Furthermore, we explore Ricci solitons and Norden golden Ricci solitons on Norden golden Riemannian manifolds whose potential vector fields are killing, conformal killing, concurrent, or homothetic.

Comparisons Of Some Weighted Mixed Biased Estimators For The Linear Regression Model, Dünya Karapinar, Murat Polat, Ni̇met Özbay, Selahatti̇n Kaçiranlar
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
This paper presents comparative results on the two-parameter weighted mixed estimator, which is a distinct class of estimator defined to address the problem of multicollinearity. The two-parameter weighted mixed estimator is a general estimator that includes the weighted mixed estimator, the weighted mixed Liu estimator, and the weighted mixed ridge estimator. Detailed comparisons among the mentioned estimators are carried out based on the matrix mean square error. Theoretical findings are supported by two numerical examples in addition to a Monte Carlo simulation study.

This research letter proposes a novel model design leveraging natively multimodal large language models to identify fall risks and generate visualizations of recommended home environmental modifications, aiming to improve the accessibility and impact of personalized fall prevention advice for older adults. Through a pilot rating study, this work demonstrates that multimodal large language models can generate safe and actionable advice to reduce fall risk in lived spaces of older adults, and also generate realistic edits based on original images. While this concept needs further testing and clinical comparison, it highlights a promising avenue for further innovation of fall prevention tactics.
Information Usage As A Performance Driver In Supply Chains: Integrating Machine Learning, Structural Modeling, And Efficiency Analysis, Asli Z. Dag
Harrisburg University Dissertations and Theses
The present study investigates ways in which companies utilize information to improve suppliers’ performance within their supply chains. In the literature, the existing studies focus largely on information sharing between companies and suppliers, while less is known about how organizations then apply shared information during decision-making in ways that impact outcomes for suppliers. Importantly, the extant research demonstrates that information sharing can improve the visibility of issues arising along the supply chain, raise the coordination between those within the chain, and reduce uncertainty about the necessary supply and demand; however, the benefits in these areas remain limited unless the relevant …

The Impact Of Participation In Career And Technical Education (Cte) On High School Graduation, College-Going Status, And Entry Into The Workforce, Paul Wambugu
Seton Hall University Dissertations and Theses (ETDs)
This study examined the relationship between high school students' participation in Career and Technical Education (CTE) and three postsecondary student outcomes using the High School Longitudinal Study of 2009 (HSLS:09). CTE participation was measured by the number of Carnegie credits earned in CTE. Three student outcomes were analyzed: on-time high school graduation, college enrollment, and workforce entry. Descriptive statistics, bivariate analyses, and multivariate logistic regression models were estimated while controlling for socioeconomic status, race/ethnicity, sex, disability status, and academic performance indicators. Results indicated that CTE concentrators who earned 3 or more Carnegie credits in CTE had higher odds of graduating …

Violations of federal environmental laws governing hazardous and solid wastes are typically remedied via civil methods, except in the case of crimes involving significant harm and culpable conduct, which can merit criminal prosecution. With historically varied commitments to environmental enforcement, we would generally expect substantive increases in prosecutions and penalties for these crimes under Democratic, as opposed to Republican presidents, but very little is known about the criminal enforcement of hazardous and solid waste crimes generally or how they vary under different partisan regimes. Through content analysis of 2,728 criminal prosecutions resulting from U.S. EPA criminal investigations, 1983-2021, we select …

Data Center Cooling Water Discharge: Assessing Environmental Transparency And Information Gaps, Katherine Kim
Data Center Cooling Water Discharge: Assessing Environmental Transparency And Information Gaps, Katherine Kim
UC Law Environmental Journal
As society’s demand for more network storage and advanced generative artificial intelligence systems increases, industries are rushing to deploy more data centers. This rapid growth of data centers has led to increased concern regarding the burden that data centers place on energy and water resources. Potable water intake and energy consumption are two well-established issues related to data centers, given that both water and electricity are necessary to run and cool equipment within data centers. As a result, data centers are developing and implementing new cooling systems that recycle water within their systems, limit evaporation, or do not rely on …

Gaza has frequently been the target of environmental damage from Israel. Dating back to its immigration to Palestine, Israel has impacted Palestine’s water systems, destroyed its natural landscape, and forcibly changed much of the landscape through invasive species. This environmental harm is only worsened by the repeated conflict in the region, which has damaged infrastructure and water systems and caused contamination of air, water, and soil. Gaza was already struggling with these environmental concerns, coupled with its susceptibility to climate change, when the conflict with Israel intensified in October 2023. All progress that was being made to strengthen Gaza’s infrastructure …

Don't Ask, Don't Tell, Don't Possess: Mapping A Potential Second Amendment Challenge To 18 U.S. Code § 922(G)(6), Emil Zakarian
Duke Journal of Constitutional Law & Public Policy Sidebar
For decades, the United States military discharged LGBTQ+ service members based on their sexual orientation, often assigning discharge characterizations that carry enduring legal consequences. One overlooked consequence arises under 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(6), which prohibits individuals discharged "under dishonorable conditions" from possessing firearms. Although this provision has received limited judicial scrutiny, the Supreme Court's decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Ass'n v. Bruen calls its constitutionality into question by requiring that modern firearm regulations be consistent with the Nation's historical tradition of regulation.
This Note argues that § 922(g)(6) is constitutionally vulnerable as applied to veterans discharged solely …
It's In The Money: The Independent Federal Reserve, Kathrynne E. Curtis
It's In The Money: The Independent Federal Reserve, Kathrynne E. Curtis
Duke Journal of Constitutional Law & Public Policy Sidebar
The case at the heart of the current controversy involves the President's firing of a Federal Reserve Governor against a backdrop of crumbling precedent. The backbone of administrative agency independence, Humphrey's Executor, awaits the Supreme Court's judgment. Therefore, distinguishing the Federal Reserve—responsible for controlling monetary policy and setting interest rates—has never been more pressing. This Note argues that the Federal Reserve can be meaningfully distinguished on a historical basis, as the Court suggests in Trump v. Wilcox, by reference to its family tree: the First and Second National Banks. Precedent and the fallout from lapses in the early …

Flood Education In Lewisburg, Ellie Torrisi, Emily Cook, Hanna Mozayeni
Final Reports in ENST 411: Environmental Community Projects
In partnership with Debra Sulai and Lewisburg Neighborhoods, the goal of this project is to build flood resilience and education in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. Lewisburg is located in a high-risk flood zone due to its proximity to the Susquehanna River, Miller Run, Buffalo Creek, and Limestone (Bull) Run. The Borough has experienced significant flooding throughout its history, most notably in 1972, when Tropical Storm Agnes devastated the town. Renters which comprise 65% of Borough residents, are less likely to be aware of flood risk. The goals of this project were to help increase awareness of flood risk, encourage residents and businesses …

Understanding Behavioral And Representational Divergences Of Humans And Machines, Thomas Lasman Botch
Understanding Behavioral And Representational Divergences Of Humans And Machines, Thomas Lasman Botch
Dartmouth College Ph.D Dissertations
Human behavior and cognition are strikingly variable: people differ from one another in their preferences and abilities, and even from themselves across situations. Yet this diversity arises from common neural machinery shaped by the complex environments humans inhabit. A central objective of cognitive neuroscience is to understand how this varied experience emerges from interactions between brains, agents, and environments. In this dissertation, I argue that comparing behavior and neural computation across humans, artificial systems, and contexts is essential for understanding the flexibility of human cognition. Across three chapters, I use this comparative approach to examine how the rich, multimodal contexts …
