The Effectiveness Of A Mental Health Literacy Webpage For Parents, Coaches, And Athletic Trainers, Mackenzie Warner, Kimberly Peer, Hannah Harnar, David Dees

Journal of Sports Medicine and Allied Health Sciences: Official Journal of the Ohio Athletic Trainers Association

INTRODUCTION Mental health illnesses continue to emerge as a major public health concern, particularly among adolescents and young adults. Secondary school student-athletes face unique pressures related to academics, athletic performance, time management, injuries, and social expectations, all of which may contribute to anxiety, depression, stress, or other mental health conditions. However, there is limited research that explores secondary school student-athletes and how mental health affects their everyday lives. This could be due to the lack of mental health literacy in the individuals who surround secondary school student-athletes, including parents, coaches, and athletic trainers. Increasing their understanding of mental health literacy …

Undergraduate Research and Scholarship Symposium

TrussWorthy is a modular truss-based construction platform designed to support the gradual development of sustainable infrastructure on the lunar surface. Aligned with NASA’s Moon to Mars objectives, the system emphasizes in-situ resource utilization (ISRU) by transforming lunar regolith into structural components through sintering and additive manufacturing. By reducing dependence on Earth-supplied materials, TrussWorthy aims to lower launch costs while enabling scalable, long-term construction capabilities. The design integrates autonomous excavation, 3D printing, and robotic assembly, building on technologies expected from upcoming Artemis and Commercial Lunar Payload Services missions. Engineered to withstand extreme thermal cycling, vacuum conditions, and reduced lunar gravity, the …

Health Navigation During Pediatric Emergency Department Visits: Addressing Previously Identified Disparities In Unmet Social Needs, Divya Sundar, Quinne Shultz, Tarynn Kerr, Perla Rivera, Maija Holsti, Katharine Osborn May 2026

Health Navigation During Pediatric Emergency Department Visits: Addressing Previously Identified Disparities In Unmet Social Needs, Divya Sundar, Quinne Shultz, Tarynn Kerr, Perla Rivera, Maija Holsti, Katharine Osborn

Utah Conference on Community Engagement

Unmet social needs (USN) are associated with poorer health outcomes and increased healthcare utilization. Families experiencing USN are more likely to rely on emergency departments (EDs) for care, particularly when preventive care is inaccessible. In 2022, Tedford et al. identified a high prevalence of USN among families presenting to this pediatric emergency department (PED), highlighting the PED as a critical access point for intervention and the need for targeted programs within the same clinical setting.
In January 2024, a Health Navigation course was implemented within the Pediatric Clinical Research Education program at the University of Utah. Undergraduate and graduate students, …

Caught In The Sap: An Argument For Satisfactory Academic Progress Reform Toward Equity For College Students, Z.W. Taylor, Sarah Pauter May 2026

Caught In The Sap: An Argument For Satisfactory Academic Progress Reform Toward Equity For College Students, Z.W. Taylor, Sarah Pauter

Journal of Student Financial Aid

This issue article explores how satisfactory academic progress (SAP) policies act as a major filtering mechanism within the federal student aid process, with a particular focus on how these policies impact student persistence and equity. While the majority of research on financial aid has concentrated on the challenges of the FAFSA application process and how aid supports student retention, less attention has been given to how institutions develop and impose SAP policies and how students navigate these policies and maintain eligibility for federal and other forms of student aid. As a result, this issue article articulates a two-pronged argument to …

"Hopefully This Thing Is Legit:" Student Experiences Of Administrative Burden With A Promise Program, Rosa Maria Acevedo, Denisa Gándara, Sasha Smith

Journal of Student Financial Aid

Despite the expansion of tuition-free college (Promise) programs as a financial aid strategy, little is known about how students learn about, navigate, and experience them. This qualitative case study examines how second-year students encounter administrative burdens in a Promise program (PROMISE) at a large university that seeks to minimize compliance costs. Findings reveal a tradeoff between ease of access (low compliance costs) and program-related information (high learning costs). Minimal eligibility requirements contrast with limited marketing, leaving students misinformed about key aspects of their aid. Elevated learning and psychological costs generate stress and uncertainty. Despite these challenges, students draw on navigational, …

Readiness Roadblocks: Identifying Financial Challenges And Financial Wellness Among First-Year College Students, Vanessa Peña, Daniel J. Wilson, Susan P. Farruggia, Annette Wright, Aisha El-Amin

Journal of Student Financial Aid

This paper explores the financial challenges and financial wellness of first-year students from a large, public, urban research university in the Midwest. Utilizing a financial wellness lens, we uncover students’ financial preparation and identify key financial challenges they face in managing college expenses while exploring how institutions can better support students in understanding and planning for the financial costs of higher education. Our findings highlight students were encouraged to attend college but lacked financial preparation and support, limiting their ability to manage their college expenses; the financial advice and resources provided often did not align with students’ actual experiences and …

Persona-Based Style Selection And Visual Feedback For Large Language Model Outputs, Gulmohar Khan May 2026

Persona-Based Style Selection And Visual Feedback For Large Language Model Outputs, Gulmohar Khan

Defensive Publications Series

Large language models currently require extensive and nuanced textual prompting to achieve specific styles, tones, or narrative structures in generated content. Conveying these attributes through text alone is often difficult and requires iterative refinement by the user.

This disclosure describes a method for defining the style and narrative of generated content using non-textual inputs. A library of predefined personas, each associated with specific stylistic attributes and vocabulary, is provided for selection. Upon selection, the persona is represented by a visual color gradient and a summary of its core attributes. The generated output is further enhanced with color-coded visual feedback, where …

Edge-Computed Dynamic Licensing Using Generative Perception And Agentic Resource Settlement, Nikhil Kumar May 2026

Edge-Computed Dynamic Licensing Using Generative Perception And Agentic Resource Settlement, Nikhil Kumar

Defensive Publications Series

Some digital rights management systems can employ static, user-based licenses that may not fully account for dynamic viewing environments, such as the number of viewers present. An edge computed system can operate locally on a client device, for example, a smartphone, a smart television, or a wearable device. The system may utilize a generative perception engine to analyze multi-modal sensor data, which can generate an anonymized textual description of the viewing scene and perform liveness detection. A dynamic smart contract engine can then synthesize a machine-readable session license based on this real-time contextual information. An autonomous agentic settlement system may …
