From The Hood To The Pwi: A Self-Reflective Journey As Learner And Educator, Tatiana C. Height May 2026

From The Hood To The Pwi: A Self-Reflective Journey As Learner And Educator, Tatiana C. Height

Black Educology Mixtape "Journal"

This track explores the concept of organic sustainability within the context of Black educational experiences, drawing from my personal journey as student, scholar, mother, and educator. Using action research and autoethnography, I examine how anti-Black schooling shaped my academic trajectory across K–12 schools, predominantly white institutions, graduate studies, and faculty life. The narrative highlights tensions between education as a promise of liberation and its simultaneous perpetuation of systemic oppression. Strategies of resilience and resistance—such as ungrading, culturally relevant pedagogy, Apocalyptic Education, and unschooling—are positioned as tools to reimagine liberatory education. The work underscores the necessity of rejecting white supremacist norms …

Harriet Tubman’S Underground Railroad As Ancestral Technology For Black Futures, Julia Lynch May 2026

Harriet Tubman’S Underground Railroad As Ancestral Technology For Black Futures, Julia Lynch

Black Educology Mixtape "Journal"

This track draws on BlackMothering to frame Harriet Tubman not only as a conductor of freedom but as an architect of ancestral technology, designing strategies of survival that continue to instruct contemporary struggles. Tubman’s praxis—relational, anticipatory, and collective—illuminates the enduring power of Black knowledge systems to chart pathways through systems of violence and oppression. In conversation with Tiffani Marie and Kenjus Watson’s theorization of Apocalyptic Education and what Django Paris and H. Samy Alim describe as culturally sustaining pedagogy, this track explores how Tubman’s Underground Railroad praxis offers a blueprint for Black sustainability using (a) health and survival, (b) spatial …

Black Boys And The New Media Mixtape: Ownership, Aspiration, And Hustle In A Digital Age, Kareem Edouard, Taquan S. Stewart May 2026

Black Boys And The New Media Mixtape: Ownership, Aspiration, And Hustle In A Digital Age, Kareem Edouard, Taquan S. Stewart

Black Educology Mixtape "Journal"

In this track, we explore how “new media” platforms become modern “mixtape” tools for Black boys to remix identity and cultural narratives in the digital age. As Audre Lorde reminded us, “The master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house.” Still, we aim to interrogate whether these tools can be repurposed for empowerment. This framework unfolds in three parts: examining ownership and the gatekeeping of cultural narratives, exploring how new media platforms shape aspirations and identities for Black boys, and identifying the tools and pathways for Black boys to both see themselves as creators and access content that reflects them. …

Dancing In The Wake | Like Moss Over Modernity, Simple Ant May 2026

Dancing In The Wake | Like Moss Over Modernity, Simple Ant

Black Educology Mixtape "Journal"

This offering is a meditation on existing and thriving in the wake of civilization. For centuries, we have educated one another to believe in, and glorify, the insatiable desires of our modern way of life. I begin with the premise that what we call “civilization” is a system predicated on death, violence, and exploitation, because it requires the endless extraction and consumption of the living Earth. Living in this way guts the Earth to feed our ideas of “progress” and “prosperity.” The effect now is that our civilization, our society, our way of life is rotting—bringing with it decay and …

The Cypher: Freedom Dreaming And Black Sustainability Beyond The Ruins, Tiffani Marie, Kenjus Watson, David Stovall, Dre Carter, Simple Ant, Eghosa Obaizamomwan-Hamilton May 2026

The Cypher: Freedom Dreaming And Black Sustainability Beyond The Ruins, Tiffani Marie, Kenjus Watson, David Stovall, Dre Carter, Simple Ant, Eghosa Obaizamomwan-Hamilton

Black Educology Mixtape "Journal"

In confronting the structural collapse of modernity and the dehumanization inherent in public institutions, this cypher serves as a site of radical imagination and sonic medicine. By centering freedom dreaming and Black sustainability, we argue for the necessary pedagogical movements of Black Educology. Ultimately, we invite a collective reimagining of death, not as an end but as a communal transition toward life beyond the trap of modernity.

Claiming Estevanico De Azamor In The Labyrinth Of Oriental/Western Identities, Khalid Chaouch May 2026

Claiming Estevanico De Azamor In The Labyrinth Of Oriental/Western Identities, Khalid Chaouch

SOROUD: The journal of Literacy Criticism

This article discusses the multilayered identity of Estevanico, a sixteenth-century Moroccan enslaved from Morocco and one of four survivors of a Spanish expedition to America. His biography disrupts fixed ideas about culture and race, showing how he crossed linguistic, cultural, and geographical boundaries. The paper critiques the multiple claims made over his identity and argues that placing him within Orientalist or Occidentalist frameworks is futile. Estevanico’s life demonstrates the value of intercultural understanding, adaptability, dialogue, and acceptance beyond racial or identity claims.

(De)Slaving History And The Narratives Of Conquest, Lhoussain Simour May 2026

(De)Slaving History And The Narratives Of Conquest, Lhoussain Simour

SOROUD: The journal of Literacy Criticism

This study explores an important chapter in Moroccan-American history centered on Mostafa Al-Azemmouri, a Moroccan captive and adventurer whose journey began on the shores of sixteenth-century Morocco. Captured by the Portuguese, sold in Spain, and transported to the New World around 1527, Al-Azemmouri was marginalized and misrepresented in historical accounts. The article reframes his voyage by examining Morocco's interactions with the Atlantic world, the Spanish perspective on overseas expansion after the Reconquista, and the Portuguese-Azemmour relationship, while critiquing Spanish sources that relegated him to obscurity.

Shrinking Sovereignty: By Land, Sea, And…Air?, Cynthia R. Harris May 2026

Shrinking Sovereignty: By Land, Sea, And…Air?, Cynthia R. Harris

Pace Environmental Law Review

Atlantis was a mythical State destroyed by the gods as an object lesson to humanity. The complete destruction of a State, as a political entity, does have precedent in historical reality. The complete and permanent loss of a State’s physical territory, however, is a problem humanity has never faced—until now. Today, climate change-driven sea level rise is bringing the future sovereign status of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in question. A growing body of legal scholarship argues for maintaining these States’ maritime jurisdictions but has not yet extended the question skyward to SIDS’ jurisdiction over airspace.

This Article addresses that …

Municipality Of Bayamón V. Exxon Mobil Corp. (2025): Bringing Racketeering Charges For Climate Justice, Ilinca C. Johnson

Pace Environmental Law Review

Environmental justice communities should have their climate change damages heard in the courtroom. One means to increase environmental justice claims is through claims under the federal Racketeer Influence and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. Using Municipality of Bayamón v. Exxon Mobil Corp. (2025) as a model, this Article suggests a novel RICO case strategy to pursue climate damages for marginalized communities. Fundamentally, environmental justice RICO claims involve careful case design based on the climate-related damages a marginalized community has faced because of the long-term deception by fossil fuel actors upon those communities. Pursuing such claims forwards the intersectional issues faced by …

Non-Reformist Reforms In Environmentalism: Legal Theory And Praxis, Nicholas F. Stump May 2026

Non-Reformist Reforms In Environmentalism: Legal Theory And Praxis, Nicholas F. Stump

Pace Environmental Law Review

This Article explores how non-reformist reforms—as opposed to traditional environmental law—are required for ecologically transformative futures. Traditional environmental law is a critically flawed regime due to its embeddedness in our current ecological political economy, which functionally requires perpetual accumulation and growth. However, this accumulation- and growth-based paradigm is incompatible with the material realities of our planetary boundaries. This paradigm has thus engendered our current era of profound ecological crisis (i.e., as associated with notions of the Anthropocene).

Non-reformist reforms are an alternative framework that can help drive transformations of our ecological political economy vis-à-vis building and operationalizing people power from …

Antitrust Law And Healthcare Consolidation: Case Analyses Of U.S. Hospital And Insurance Mergers, Francesca Meek

Honors Projects

Rising healthcare costs in the United States have intensified concerns about hospital consolidation and its effects on market competition. This paper examines the application of antitrust law to horizontal mergers involving hospitals and health insurers, focusing on how courts evaluate proposed mergers under Section 7 of the Clayton Act. Using a qualitative case study approach, the study analyzes eight major federal antitrust cases from the past two decades to determine how courts assess market concentration, competitive effects, and merger defenses.

The findings show that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Department of Justice (DOJ) were successful in six of the …

Supporting Nurse Practitioner Autonomy: A Policy Proposal To Advance Hospice Np Scope, Lauren Hochart May 2026

Supporting Nurse Practitioner Autonomy: A Policy Proposal To Advance Hospice Np Scope, Lauren Hochart

Doctor of Nursing Practice Final Manuscripts

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) profession has achieved many advancements in its autonomy and scope of practice in the last 61 years since becoming a recognized advanced practice registered nursing role. However, some areas of healthcare still limit the NPs ability to practice autonomously even though it is within their scope of practice. This is notable in the subspecialty of hospice care with regards to certifying a terminal diagnosis as part of eligibility determination for a Medicare beneficiary to be able to receive covered hospice services. This health policy paper reviews current hospice regulations and provides evidence to support the benefits …

Exercise Prescription For Adults With Prediabetes In The Primary Care Clinic, Katherine W. Hall May 2026

Exercise Prescription For Adults With Prediabetes In The Primary Care Clinic, Katherine W. Hall

Doctor of Nursing Practice Final Manuscripts

Prediabetes affects approximately one in three adults in the United States, with an estimated 10% progressing to Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) annually. Despite strong evidence supporting exercise as a first-line intervention to prevent disease progression, most patients in primary care settings do not receive structured physical activity counseling. This evidence-based project (EBP) aims to address this gap by implementing a standardized protocol to assess baseline physical activity levels and deliver individualized exercise prescriptions to adults with prediabetes in the primary care clinic.

Eligible participants, defined by HbA1c values between 5.70% and 6.49%, were identified during routine primary care visits …

Doctor of Nursing Practice Final Manuscripts

Introduction: The ability to predict and manage difficult intubations is a critical component of airway management in clinical practice.

Background: Ultrasound airway assessment has emerged as a valuable tool in predicting difficult intubation, yet its integration into routine clinical practice remains limited. This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project aimed to educate healthcare providers, specifically nurse anesthetists, on the use of ultrasound to assess airway anatomy and enhance prediction of difficult airways.

Methods: An evidence-based airway assessment, the Difficult Airway Evaluation with Sonography (DARES), was implemented during a single-day skills fair. Participants received both didactic instruction and hands-on training focused …

Enhancing Emergency Department Preparedness For Amniotic Fluid Embolism Through Evidence-Based Simulation Training, Olivia M. Smoak May 2026

Enhancing Emergency Department Preparedness For Amniotic Fluid Embolism Through Evidence-Based Simulation Training, Olivia M. Smoak

Doctor of Nursing Practice Final Manuscripts

Maternal mortality in the United States remains a significant and worsening public health concern, with increasing reliance on emergency departments (EDs) as access points for maternal care. Emergency clinicians are therefore more likely to encounter high-acuity obstetric emergencies, including maternal cardiac arrest and amniotic fluid embolism (AFE), yet often receive limited formal training in these conditions. Simulation-based education, interdisciplinary training, and cognitive aids have been identified as effective strategies to improve performance in high-risk, low-frequency events.

The purpose of the evidence-based practice project was to evaluate whether an interdisciplinary simulation with obstetric-led debrief and introduction of the AFE checklist improves …

Improving Transition To Adult Care: Assessing Health Insurance Literacy In Adolescent Patients With Congenital Heart Disease, Kaitlyn V. Mudge

Doctor of Nursing Practice Final Manuscripts

Background: With advances in surgery and medical management, 95% of children with congenital heart disease (CHD) survive into adulthood. Transition to adult care is an intricate process. Up to 60% of adolescents fail to follow through with cardiology care, facing three times the risk of needing emergency services. Only 25% of young adults with CHD knew of the need to change their care to an adult provider and to acquire health insurance as an adult. One barrier to successful transition is a lack of insurance coverage and limited insurance health literacy. Higher insurance literacy is associated with increased utilization …

Deadline-Chasing In Digital Health: Forecasting Emr Adoption Dynamics And Regulatory Impact In Indonesian Primary Care, Suryo Satrio, Bukhori Muhammad Aqid

Journal of Indonesian Health Policy and Administration

Indonesia is accelerating digital health adoption under Minister of Health Regulation No. 24/2022, which mandates the use and integration of Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) with SATUSEHAT. However, evidence on how quickly primary health care facilities (Fasilitas Kesehatan Tingkat Pertama – FKTP) are adopting EMRs and what the adoption curve looks like remains limited. Survey findings also suggest key barriers and enablers, including security and data migration concerns, as well as human resource and infrastructure constraints. This observational study used provider-network data from a single EMR vendor. Key measures included cumulative registered facilities, monthly registrations, same-month activation (total_active/monthly inflow) as …
