Defending Lgbtqia+ Young Adult Literature In Classrooms: A Secondary English Methods Assignment, Summer Melody Pennell
Defending Lgbtqia+ Young Adult Literature In Classrooms: A Secondary English Methods Assignment, Summer Melody Pennell
Journal of Queer and Trans Studies in Education
The author describes how teachers and community advocates can defend the use of LGBTQIA+ Young Adult Literature in the secondary classroom by aligning teaching ideas to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English. Through analyzing student work from two secondary English methods courses, the author found that students were able to find ways to teach the majority of the domains of ELA: reading literary fiction, reading informational texts, writing, and speaking and listening. Students also justified their pedagogical ideas with scholarship from English education. Rather than seeing LGBTQIA+ texts as outliers, the evidence shows they can be used to …
Women's Travel Literature: Challenges And Limits, Jalila Tritar
Women's Travel Literature: Challenges And Limits, Jalila Tritar
SOROUD: The journal of Literacy Criticism
Women have never been part of the journey! Gender identity has always doomed them to domesticity and all the functions that correspond to it, such as procreation, motherhood, child education etc. The public space is the prerogative of men that of women has always been private space.
Brave And Adventurous Women Travelers By Cristina Morato, Aicha Maati
Brave And Adventurous Women Travelers By Cristina Morato, Aicha Maati
SOROUD: The journal of Literacy Criticism
The Spanish writer, journalist, and traveler Cristina Morató is the first and foremost to take an interest in researching, collecting, and documenting women’s travels around the world. She has published five books in this context, all dealing with the adventures of female travelers, most of whom have been forgotten by history despite their exceptional achievements and their contribution to paving the way for a group of male travelers whose names have been written in gold. Cristina Morató insisted on giving back to all these female travelers the recognition and honor they deserve by researching and digging into the details of …

A Reading Of "Western Women's Travels To Morocco 1860-1956" By Latifa Benjelloun Alaoui, Brahim El Harfi
SOROUD: The journal of Literacy Criticism
Western Women Travelers in Morocco 1860-1956" by Latifa Benjelloun Laroui delves into the experiences of Western women who traveled to Morocco between 1860 and 1956. The book is split into two parts. The first part focuses on three distinct periods: pre-Protectorate with Drummond, during the Protectorate under Lyautey, and the post-Protectorate phase. It describes how these travelers, often diplomats' wives, missionaries, or journalists, experienced Morocco, its cities, culture, and people. The second part discusses the experiences of specific travelers, including journalists and women of letters, and their impact on the foreign perception of Morocco. The book provides a unique insight …

Emilia Serrano Or Baroness Of Wilson:The Traveling Writer, Nadia Baline
SOROUD: The journal of Literacy Criticism
Emilia Serrano, or Baroness of Wilson, a 19th-century writer, journalist, and traveler, spent half of her life in Latin America, due to her love and fondness for the place. This article will try to shed light on this author and highlight the place that she occupies in the travel literature of her time. Serrano faced such gender stereotype as the presumed weakness and sensitivity of women. Animated by her an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and exploration, Serrano traveled across America, from Canada to Patagonia in search of adventure. She wrote several literary works bearing testimony to her experiences, perceptions, multilingual …

Alice Morrison’S My 1001 Nights: Tales And Adventures From Morocco Seeing From Within Not From Above And Preaching Cross-Cultural Appreciation, Youssef El Kaidi
SOROUD: The journal of Literacy Criticism
Thanks to its geographical location at the intersection between continents and cultures, Morocco has always been a stage for cross-cultural encounters. Despite its geographical proximity to Europe, Morocco, however, is culturally distant to the Western subject and its exotic allure has always been irresistible. While many 19th and early 20th century travel accounts on Morocco were highly orientalist in their (mis)representation of space and race in Morocco, Alice Morrison’s My 1001 Nights: Tales and Adventures from Morocco seem to introduce a new pattern of cultural representation in which the Western traveler witnesses from within not from above. This paper demonstrates …
Catherine De Bourboulon's Diary In China (1858-1862) Fracture Between East And West, Qingya Meng
Catherine De Bourboulon's Diary In China (1858-1862) Fracture Between East And West, Qingya Meng
SOROUD: The journal of Literacy Criticism
This article is dedicated to the journey of Catherine de Bourboulon (1827-1865) with her husband, a French diplomat, through northern China, Mongolia, and Russia, during which she wrote a journal that was published upon her return to France in 1866. This journal reflects both her compassion for the Chinese and Mongols living in miserable conditions and her admiration for the landscape of the Gobi Desert. However, her perspective also establishes a hierarchical relationship with the Other. In this regard, our approach aims to show how the concept of civilization justifies Catherine de Bourboulon’s stance, convinced of the superiority of Europeans …
The Harem In Orientalist Art And Literature Between Fantasy And Authenticity, Fatima Zahra Ajjoul
The Harem In Orientalist Art And Literature Between Fantasy And Authenticity, Fatima Zahra Ajjoul
SOROUD: The journal of Literacy Criticism
European travel to the Orient dates back to thousands of years, but fascination with the region flourished by the nineteenth century, the century of "harem literature" and Orientalist art par excellence. A number of developments made the trip to the Orient easier, safer and cheaper at the time. However, harem doors remained closed to male travellers who were left to imagine their own desirable details that mostly projected fantasies of exoticism, eroticism and despotism. Women travellers, on the other hand, took advantage of their gender-privileged access to the Oriental women's segregated spaces to shed light upon several obscured aspects of …

Calculation Of Lra Force Factor Using Electrical Impedance Parameters, David Yu, Jianxun Wang, Vander Fang, Ozan Anac
Calculation Of Lra Force Factor Using Electrical Impedance Parameters, David Yu, Jianxun Wang, Vander Fang, Ozan Anac
Defensive Publications Series
Calibrating the force factor (BL) of linear resonant actuators (LRAs) in some production environments may present challenges, as certain laboratory instruments can be slow or costly for high-throughput quality control. A method is described to calculate BL by extracting key parameters from an LRA's electrical impedance curve. This approach can identify points such as resonant frequency, maximum impedance, and direct current resistance to determine the motional impedance (ΔZ) and mechanical Q factor (Qms), which can avoid some complex curve-fitting procedures. These values, along with a known moving mass (m), can then be used in a formula, for example …
