The President As Agent: Reframing The Major Questions Doctrine, Matthew Collins
The President As Agent: Reframing The Major Questions Doctrine, Matthew Collins
ConLawNOW
On the heels of the Learning Resources v. Trump decision, this Essay argues that agency theory provides an important framework for understanding the major questions doctrine. This perspective has received little attention in legal scholarship. The Essay casts the major questions doctrine in a new light by framing it as a constraint on the president acting as Congress’s agent. By highlighting this bridge between private-law agency principles and public law, the piece offers two novel insights. First, it reconceptualizes the relationship between the major questions and nondelegation doctrines: the former addresses the unfaithful execution of Congress’s directives by the executive …

Reframing Narratives: Remedies For Improved Human Trafficking Coverage, Stefanie Henriques
The Pegasus Review: UCF Undergraduate Research Journal
The global rise in human trafficking is not receiving adequate media attention. While newspaper coverage of the topic has increased, current research argues that the issue is framed with a lack of diversity, limiting audience understanding of its complexity. Some researchers also note that coverage disproportionately focuses on sex trafficking, with minimal attention directed to other forms of trafficking such as the labor or organ trade. This paper conducts a narrative literature analysis of media research on human trafficking, drawing on framing theory to identify dominant frames in media messaging and synthesize cross-cultural factors that impact how the issue is …

Evaluating Legal Frameworks For The Protection Of Consumers Of Digital Financial Services: Global Trends And Their Significance For Vietnam, Ha Son Nguyen, Lanh Dinh Cao, Nguyen Dinh Phan
International Journal on Consumer Law and Practice
The development of digital financial services (DFS) in the context of global digital transformation poses fundamental challenges for the legal framework for consumer protection, particularly in developing countries such as Vietnam. This article argues that the sectoral approach currently adopted in Vietnam, with rules dispersed across various specialized statutes, has created a structurally significant legal gap, a lack of consistency in protection standards, and limitations on effective coordination among regulatory authorities. It thereby undermines the law’s capacity to protect consumers in the highly cross-sectoral environment of digital finance.
Through an analytical and comparative approach that draws on the experiences of …

Design Of Precise Hinges For Optical Space Arrays, Jacob Sutton
Design Of Precise Hinges For Optical Space Arrays, Jacob Sutton
Theses and Dissertations
Deployable origami-based arrays offer significant advantages for space optical systems due to their ability to stow compactly and deploy to a large surface area. However, achieving the panel alignment precision required for optical applications remains an open challenge, particularly for non-rigid-foldable patterns such as the flasher, where large relative motion during deployment and geometric constraints at panel interfaces limit the effectiveness of traditional hinge designs. This thesis addresses the precision alignment challenge through the design, prototyping, and experimental testing of novel passive precision hinges for rigid-panel origami-based deployable space arrays. A compact kinematic coupling hinge incorporating Lamina Emergent Torsional (LET) …

Predicting Cybermindfulness With The Cyber-Health Belief Model, James Robinson, Yan Tian, Thomas Skill
Predicting Cybermindfulness With The Cyber-Health Belief Model, James Robinson, Yan Tian, Thomas Skill
Journal of Cybersecurity Education, Research and Practice
This study describes the development of a Cyber-Health Belief Model (CHBM). The health belief model (HBM) is a message strategy that is widely and successfully used in public health research [1] and has been extended into phish training. Most phish training programs assume end users are victimized because they have insufficient information to defend themselves. While near-term training effectiveness has shown to be effective, evidence for sustained behavioral change is thin [4]-[7]. This problem indicates that the traditional approaches need to be reconsidered and that new models are needed. Recent research suggests attentional deficits, cyber-fatigue and fatalism and a sense …
The Intersection Between Mindfulness And Cybersecurity: A Tool To Reduce Burnout And Improve Operational Effectiveness, Ivo Ricardo Dias Rosa
The Intersection Between Mindfulness And Cybersecurity: A Tool To Reduce Burnout And Improve Operational Effectiveness, Ivo Ricardo Dias Rosa
Journal of Cybersecurity Education, Research and Practice
Abstract: This paper offers a conceptual discussion of how mindfulness, understood as present moment awareness and deliberate attention regulation, can support cybersecurity professionals. Drawing on a narrative synthesis of workplace mindfulness, burnout, and high pressure decision making literature, we map plausible self regulation mechanisms to typical cyber defense tasks. Rather than presenting new empirical data, we develop an explanatory framework linking attention, reactivity, and recovery to decision quality, team communication, and adherence to incident playbooks. We focus on two connected outcomes: reducing burnout in roles with sustained cognitive and emotional demands, and improving operational effectiveness during critical situations such as …

Digital (In)Justice? Evaluating Procedural Justice In Online Crime Reporting, Nazmy Natia
Dissertations and Theses
Online Crime Reporting portals (OCR) have become a routine entry point for non-emergency police services, fundamentally redefining how the public initiates contact with law enforcement. Although these portals are presented as efficient and accessible, little attention has been paid to whether their design and communication serve the people who use them. Prior research on procedural justice (PJ) has largely examined face-to-face police encounters, while latest studies of OCR systems emphasize victim experience and usability. However, the existing literature offers limited guidance on how PJ principles translate from in-person encounters to digital reporting platforms. This prompted the current study, drawing on …

Gene fusions are common primary drivers of pediatric leukemias and are the result of underlying structural variants (SVs). Current clinical workflows to detect such alterations rely on a multimodal approach, which often increases analysis time and overall cost of testing. In this study, we used long-read sequencing (lrSeq) as a proof-of-concept to determine whether clinically relevant (cr) SVs could be detected within a small (n = 17) pediatric leukemia cohort. We show that this methodology successfully determined all known crSVs (n = 5/5) detected through routine clinical testing. This approach also identified crSVs that resulted in the classification of a …
