Adaptive Intervention Strategies In Co-Evolving Multiplex Networks: A Reinforcement Learning Approach To Real-Time Misinformation Containment, Anjali Ashokrao Bhadre Dr., Harshvardhan Prabhakar Ghongade Dr.
Northeast Journal of Complex Systems (NEJCS)
The growing transmission of misinformation via social media creates serious challenges to public health, democracy and social cohesion. To date, methods used to contain misinformation rely upon static representations of networks and set rules for interventions. In contrast, this study presents the first Multiplex Adaptive Reinforcement Intervention Network (MARIN), a framework for real-time adaptive intervention in the context of dynamic misinformation transmission using co-evolving multiplex networks and deep reinforcement learning. Unlike past studies that have assumed static network structures, MARIN has the ability to allow for dynamic changes in network topology as a result of both misinformation transmission and intervention …

Tinyvgg-Based Real-Time Degradation Classification For Adverse Driving Scenes Using A Newly Collected Iraqi Driving Dataset, Yousif N. Abbas, Matheel E. Abdulmunim, Nada H. Ali, Ismail A. Mageed
Journal of Soft Computing and Computer Applications
Environmental conditions such as low-light at night, fog scattering, glare artifacts, rain streaks, and rain smear distortions are significant issues of camera-based perception in Autonomous Vehicles (AVs). These degradations alter the statistics of the scene, mask structure, introduce non-uniform noise, and adversely affect downstream vision processes, including detection and tracking. To overcome this shortcoming, this paper presents a lightweight TinyVGG-based degradation classification system that runs in real time. The network extracts discriminative spatial features with hierarchical convolutional encoding and projects them to a lower-dimensional semantic representation with fully connected layers and a multi-class predictor based on SoftMax. In addition, a …

A Comprehensive Review Of 1d Deep Learning Approaches In Facial Analysis: Face Recognition, Landmark Detection, And Mesh Modeling, Duaa J. Al Hammami, Rehab F. Hassan
Journal of Soft Computing and Computer Applications
Facial Analysis has progressed rapidly with deep learning and its 2D image-based models, especially Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), which have been the most popular methods. In recent years, 1D deep learning models have gained traction in the search for efficient solutions for face recognition, facial landmark detection, and 3D face mesh modeling. 1D models encode the facial structure as sequences, curves, or temporal signals, resulting in high computational efficiency, a small memory footprint, and good interpretability, making them well-suited for real-time and edge devices. This review is a step-by-step, organized exploration of 1D deep learning analysis of the face, its …

Comparative Study On Throughput Optimization In Nfv: Traditional Dissemination Techniques Vs. Swarm Intelligence Approaches, Sanaa Salih Alwan, Asia Ali Salman, Wulfrano Arturo Luna Ramírez
Journal of Soft Computing and Computer Applications
Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) modernizes networks by replacing hardware with software, creating a more flexible network architecture and offering flexibility in dynamic network environments. This foundational technology is essential for creating the networks of the future, including the Internet of Things (IoT) and cellular services. NFV does provide flexibility, but it struggles to maintain system throughput during high traffic loads while achieving high resource utilization efficiency and dynamic packet routing. The problem lies in the fact that traditional request distribution mechanisms, such as flooding and gossip, fail to operate efficiently in complex network topologies (scale-free networks), leading to: (a) random …

Journal of Soft Computing and Computer Applications
Despite being a fundamental problem to autonomous robotics and intelligent navigation systems, path planning is still a challenge. The A* algorithm is often used among search-based techniques for optimal search performance, as it's a tradeoff of computation. The above techniques have been developed for various applications as many versions of A* Dynamic A* (D*), D* Lite, Hybrid A*, and Anytime A* are suggested to deal with dynamic environments, real-time constraints, and kinematic restrictions. This paper comprehensively and structurally reviews the A* algorithm and its major extensions, encompassing historical development, methodological …

Skin Lesion Classification Using Cnn Model And Augmented Dataset, Mohammed Nawzad Mohammed-Ramzi, Aso M. Aladdin
Journal of Soft Computing and Computer Applications
Skin cancer is a deadly disease. Skin lesion classification is a critical challenge due to its prevalent and deadly nature. Skin lesions are difficult for dermatologists to detect using eye examination, which is time-consuming and variable. A deep learning model of skin lesions classification has been proposed using a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) trained on the HAM10000 dataset of 10,015 dermatoscopies. To improve resilience and address the dataset's extreme class imbalance, data augmentation techniques such as geometric transformations, brightness/contrast adjustments, blurring, noise addition, histogram equalization, color space alterations, and elastic deformations are used. With a carefully balanced 10% test set, …

Modeling Of Tensile Stress-Strain Response For Steel Fiber Reinforced Self-Compacting Concretes, Anıl Niş, Nilufer Özyurt, Turan Özturan
Journal of Sustainable Construction Materials and Technologies
Main aim of the research was to further understand self-compacting concrete reinforced with steel fibers (SFR-SCC) behavior and to contribute modeling of the tensile stress-strain diagrams for the standardization of the fiber reinforced materials for structural utilization. Fiber reinforced materials has not been used without structural rebar because of the absence of stress-strain curve in tension required for the structural design codes. Hence, an inverse analysis (multi-layer model) was further modified for various steel fibers to predict tensile stress-strain behaviour. For this purpose, 5 different mixes; control, reinforced with long fibers with 0.5% and 1%, short fiber with 0.5% and …

Jurnal Pendidikan: Teori, Penelitian, dan Pengembangan
Speaking and writing are basic skills that play a crucial role in supporting the academic development of elementary school students. Initial observations in one elementary school indicated that learning was still uniform, did not fully address differences in student abilities, and the use of digital media was still limited. This study aimed to analyze the development process, feasibility, and effectiveness of a differentiated learning model supported by animated content in improving the speaking and writing skills of second-grade elementary school students, as well as to identify barriers faced by teachers and students in its implementation. This study used a Research …

Al-Bahir
Vaginitis is one of the most common women's health problems, and its severity increases in pregnant women with gestational diabetes due to higher susceptibility to infection and increased rates of antibiotic resistance. The research problem: The increasing prevalence of multidrug-resistant isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae and its association with AcrAB-TolC ejaculation pumps limits treatment efficacy, while the effect of green-method nanoparticles on gene expression of these pumps remains unclear. This paper aimed to detect the acrA and acrB genes in K. pneumoniae isolates and evaluate the effect of zinc oxide nanoparticles prepared with garlic and rosemary extracts on their gene expression. …

Vsar: A Verifiable, Formally-Verified Safety Kernel For Autonomous Security Remediation, Inaki Garcia Alonso
Defensive Publications Series
Autonomous remediation agents increasingly hold credentials to change production infrastructure (DNS, email authentication, CDN and TLS configuration) in response to machine-generated findings. The dominant assurance model for such systems is auditable: actions are logged for after-the-fact human review. We argue this is insufficient when the actor is an LLM-driven agent whose proposals are untrusted text, and we present VSAR (Verifiable Safe Autonomous Remediation), a safety kernel that makes every remediation verifiable instead of merely auditable. VSAR gates each proposed change through a fixed set of eight predicates, including a target-binding predicate that ties the change to the exact asset the …

Investigating The Optical Qualities Of Aluminum Nanoparticles With Nd:Yag Pulsed Laser Ablation In Liquid Technology, Ban A. Bader, Muna Y. Slewa, Zaid T. Aldabbagh
AUIQ Technical Engineering Science
This research investigated the preparation of aluminum nanoparticles using pulsed laser ablation in liquid (PLAL). Ablation was performed on a metallic target in distilled water using a 532 nm Nd:YAG laser at different laser energies (400, 600, and 800 mJ) with a repetition frequency of 1 Hz and 300 pulses. A change in the solution's color is one of the first indicators of nanoparticle formation. We observed a change in the color of the deionized distilled water from light white to dark white, suggesting the production of aluminum nanoparticles. Furthermore, UV-VIS measurements showed an increase in the material concentration with …
Conceptual Design Proposal: The Tethered Fusion-Driven Sail With Integrated Magnetohydrodynamic And Thermodynamic Energy Harvesting, Christopher L. Eckes
Conceptual Design Proposal: The Tethered Fusion-Driven Sail With Integrated Magnetohydrodynamic And Thermodynamic Energy Harvesting, Christopher L. Eckes
Defensive Publications Series
This paper proposes a deep-space vehicle architecture utilizing a tethered, fusion-driven "puller" configuration to eliminate beam-riding instabilities inherent in traditional laser sails. The design integrates a trailing nuclear-fusion tug that pulls a curved, light-reflective sail via a rigid, boron-doped multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) structural tether. To mitigate cosmic radiation and interstellar medium (ISM) degradation at relativistic velocities, the vessel employs a Particle-Ejection Mini-Heliosphere (M2P2) shield inflated by Yttrium Barium Copper Oxide (YBCO) high-temperature superconducting coils. System efficiency is optimized via a closed-loop energy harvesting matrix consisting of: (1) a three-layer thermodynamic hull utilizing Silicon Carbide (SiC) and Bismuth Telluride (Bi₂Te₃) …
System And Method For Generating Clinical-Trial Edit-Check Rules From Protocol Text With Prompt-Injection Defense, Narendra Nath Sarkar
System And Method For Generating Clinical-Trial Edit-Check Rules From Protocol Text With Prompt-Injection Defense, Narendra Nath Sarkar
Defensive Publications Series
A system and method translate clinical-trial protocol text into structured electronic-data-capture (EDC) edit-check rules (each rule expressed as field / operator / value / action with a severity, an action-on-violation, a confidence score, a human-readable rationale, and a provenance reference to the originating protocol span). Untrusted protocol text is hardened against prompt injection before any model is invoked, via length capping, control-character removal, a configurable set of injection-pattern filters, and role-marker stripping. Rule generation is a hybrid of (a) a deterministic knowledge-base pattern matcher and (b) an optional large-language-model (LLM) augmentation pass; generated rules are bound to a CRF (case …
Structural Mechanisms For A Modular Proactive Ai Cloud Operating System: Hierarchical Context Resolution, Anti-Fabrication-Bounded Narration, And Human-Confirmed Multi-Step Action (Icnli), Valentin Scerbacov
Defensive Publications Series
Deploying a foundation language model into a real operational domain — hosting, healthcare, finance, government, manufacturing, logistics — exposes a class of failures that the model layer cannot, by its probabilistic nature, eliminate: fabrication of facts never retrieved, unreliable multi-step action, loss of structured memory across sessions and channels, the absence of an enforceable human-control gate, and uncontrolled exposure of private data. This disclosure describes a set of structural mechanisms that bound these failures at a layer outside the model — the orchestration kernel — rather than attempting to train them away inside the model. The disclosed mechanisms are: (1) …
Active-Sleep (Dream-Enactment) Burden As A Longitudinal Self-Tracking Signal In Movement-Disordered Sleep (Rem Sleep Behavior Disorder / Parkinson's), Measured Over A Staging-Independent In-Bed Window Across Nights And Naps, Gerard Ziemski
Defensive Publications Series
A companion disclosure (the robust overnight-HRV method) computes a robust overnight heart-rate- variability (HRV) figure over the in-bed window by deliberately treating dream-enactment movement as artifact to be absorbed, so the recovery figure stays trustworthy in movement-disordered sleep. This disclosure describes the inverse, complementary use of the same movement-independent in-bed window: quantifying the movement-active ("dream-enactment" / "restless") segments themselves as the signal, and trending their burden over time. From the same in-window stream, the method derives an active-sleep-burden figure — for example the fraction of in-window time that is movement-active, and the count, duration, and timing of active episodes — …
Nap-Level Autonomic (Heart-Rate-Variability) Tracking And A Nap-Day Recovery Comparison For Daytime Sleepiness In Parkinson's Disease, Extending A Staging-Independent In-Bed-Window Method, Gerard Ziemski
Defensive Publications Series
A companion disclosure computes a single overnight resting-autonomic figure (heart-rate variability, HRV) over the in-bed window, independent of the device's sleep/wake staging and aggregated with a robust estimator (the median), so that movement misclassification in movement-disordered sleep cannot corrupt it. Daytime sleep — naps — is discarded by mainstream consumer trackers or folded into a daily total. Yet excessive daytime sleepiness and sudden-onset daytime sleep ("sleep attacks") are a recognized part of Parkinson's disease, so naps carry information specifically relevant to that population. This disclosure extends the method to every individual sleep session, night and nap alike: each session is …
Developing A Model To Generate More Digital Data Of Indian Languages For Multilingual Applications, Arya Bagde
Developing A Model To Generate More Digital Data Of Indian Languages For Multilingual Applications, Arya Bagde
Master’s Dissertations
Most of India’s scheduled languages remain critically under-served by language technology because parallel (translated) text — the raw material that modern multilingual systems depend on — is extremely scarce. Back-translation can synthesise such data automatically, but its quality varies enormously, and unfiltered synthetic data can be worse than no data at all. This dissertation develops a framework that generates synthetic parallel data for four low-resource Indian languages spanning three language families and four scripts — Assamese (Indo-Aryan, Bengali script), Bodo (Tibeto-Burman, Devanagari), Manipuri (Tibeto-Burman, Bengali script) and Santali (Austroasiatic, Ol Chiki)—and introduces CASCADE, a learned multi-signal quality gate that scores …
Breaking The Ideal: Viscosity, Nonlinearity, And Transience In Wave Attractors, Stepan Elistratov, Ivan But
Breaking The Ideal: Viscosity, Nonlinearity, And Transience In Wave Attractors, Stepan Elistratov, Ivan But
Turkish Journal of Physics
Wave attractors in viscous media exhibit laminar or turbulent behavior, dictated by the intensity of the external forcing. Laminar attractors are often assumed to behave as linear systems. However, existing studies typically focus on fully developed flows, neglecting the dynamic formation process of these attractors. This simplification overlooks crucial transient phenomena that govern their emergence and stability. In this paper, first, we investigate unconventional wave attractor configurations subjected to forcing with a complex spectrum, which lead to early nonlinearity demonstration. Next, we focus on the transient processes of attractor formation and destruction, providing insights into their dynamic evolution. Furthermore, we …

Book Review - Violent Impacts: How Power And Inequality Shape The Concussion Crisis, Samuel M. Clevenger
Book Review - Violent Impacts: How Power And Inequality Shape The Concussion Crisis, Samuel M. Clevenger
Global Sport Business Journal
Kathryn Henne and Matt Ventresca’s Violent Impacts critically examines how narratives surrounding CTE, TBI, and the concussion crisis are constructed across sport, the military, law, media, and science. Drawing on intersectional feminism and science and technology studies, the authors show how dominant concussion discourses privilege the experiences of White male athletes while marginalizing other groups. Based on extensive fieldwork, the book makes an important contribution by exposing representational inequalities and highlighting the intersectional gender politics of concussion research and public debate.

Extracurricular Video Game Use And Academic Achievement: A Systematic Literature Review, Christina Hartman, Theo Makanoa, Lucas Thoms, Aidan Lowry, Kaleb Chandler
English Student Research
A good deal of research exists on the relationship between student use of video games outside the classroom and academic achievement. Our systematic review aims to identify what patterns exist across research conducted in the last 20 years. We examined 62 research studies that dealt with academic achievement and extracurricular video game use and found that most studies identify a negative association between the two. However, this isn’t the case for all students. We identified three important variables (the amount of time spent playing video games, the time of day or week spent playing, and the age of the students) …
