An Empirical Investigation Into The Semantics Of The Polish Modal Musieć [Must] With Aspect And Negation, Leszek Szymański

Khazar Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences

The present paper makes an attempt to employ concepts developed in philosophy and logic in order to explain natural language phenomena. The study centers on the meanings of the Polish modal verb musieć in relation to aspect and negation. It uses authentic language samples excerpted from Narodowy Korpus Języka Polskiego [The National Corpus of Polish]. It adapts the model of the semantic field of modal expressions (Kratzer, 1991) to disambiguate the modal, focusing on the characteristics of the conversational backgrounds that the speaker evaluates in expressing their modal evaluation of an event. The study proposes that the lack of modality-aspect …

Hkc05 - Household Portfolios, Corporate Leverage, And The Supply Side Of Monetary Policy, Charles A.E. Goodhart, M. Udara Peiris, Dimitrios P. Tsomocos, Xuan Wang Jun 2026

Hkc05 - Household Portfolios, Corporate Leverage, And The Supply Side Of Monetary Policy, Charles A.E. Goodhart, M. Udara Peiris, Dimitrios P. Tsomocos, Xuan Wang

Oberlin College Kasper Economics and Business Working Paper Series

Corporate borrowing creates safe claims for some households and concentrates residual risk in equity for others. This portfolio heterogeneity drives a supply-side channel through which corporate leverage conditions monetary transmission. Tightening erodes equity holders’ wealth while safe-asset holders are cushioned; the resulting income effect makes aggregate labor fall more at high leverage, raising the sacrifice ratio. A static model yields a closed-form hump in leverage, with the US range on the rising side, disciplined by Survey of Consumer Finances portfolio shares. A calibrated dynamic model roughly doubles the sacrifice ratio, and US local projections agree in sign, shape, and timing.

Fines Migration Versus Mineral Dissolution In Co₂ Injectivity Impairment: A Critical Review And Conceptual Framework For Clay-Rich Sandstone Reservoirs, Umarov Shahzodbek Bakhromjon Ugl Jun 2026

Fines Migration Versus Mineral Dissolution In Co₂ Injectivity Impairment: A Critical Review And Conceptual Framework For Clay-Rich Sandstone Reservoirs, Umarov Shahzodbek Bakhromjon Ugl

Platform: A Journal of Engineering (PAJE)

Sustained injectivity is a controlling operational requirement for geological CO2 storage in deep saline aquifers because near-wellbore permeability loss can restrict injection rates, accelerate pressure build-up and reduce storage efficiency. In sandstone reservoirs containing reactive or mobile clay minerals, CO2-saturated brine may induce coupled geochemical and colloidal processes that cannot be interpreted through bulk porosity change alone. This review critically synthesises evidence on CO2-brine-rock interaction, clay mineral response, fines detachment, pore-throat restriction and injectivity impairment in sandstone systems. The reviewed literature indicates that mineral dissolution, secondary precipitation, salt precipitation, wettability alteration and fines migration can operate simultaneously, but their effects …
