Capo: Cooperative Plan Optimization For Efficient Embodied Multi-Agent Cooperation, Jie Liu, Pan Zhou, Yingjun Du, Ah-Hwee Tan, Cees Snoek, Jan-Jakob Sonke, Efstratios Gavves

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

In this work, we address the cooperation problem among large language model (LLM) based embodied agents, where agents must cooperate to achieve a common goal. Previous methods often execute actions extemporaneously and incoherently, without long-term strategic and cooperative planning, leading to redundant steps, failures, and even serious repercussions in complex tasks like search-and-rescue missions where discussion and cooperative plan are crucial. To solve this issue, we propose Cooperative Plan Optimization (CaPo) to enhance the cooperation efficiency of LLM-based embodied agents. Inspired by human cooperation schemes, CaPo improves cooperation efficiency with two phases: 1) meta-plan generation, and 2) progress-adaptive meta-plan and …

Neural Multi-Objective Combinatorial Optimization Via Graph-Image Multimodal Fusion, Jinbiao Chen, Jiahai Wang, Zhiguang Cao, Yaoxin Wu Apr 2025

Neural Multi-Objective Combinatorial Optimization Via Graph-Image Multimodal Fusion, Jinbiao Chen, Jiahai Wang, Zhiguang Cao, Yaoxin Wu

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Existing neural multi-objective combinatorial optimization (MOCO) methods still exhibit an optimality gap since they fail to fully exploit the intrinsic features of problem instances. A significant factor contributing to this shortfall is their reliance solely on graph-modal information. To overcome this, we propose a novel graph-image multimodal fusion (GIMF) framework that enhances neural MOCO methods by integrating graph and image information of the problem instances. Our GIMF framework comprises three key components: (1) a constructed coordinate image to better represent the spatial structure of the problem instance, (2) a problem-size adaptive resolution strategy during the image construction process to improve …

Llm-Enhanced Multiple Instance Learning For Joint Rumor And Stance Detection With Social Context Information, Ruichao Yang, Jing Ma, Wei Gao, Hongzhan Lin

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

The proliferation of misinformation, such as rumors on social media, has drawn significant attention, prompting various expressions of stance among users. Although rumor detection and stance detection are distinct tasks, they can complement each other. Rumors can be identified by cross-referencing stances in related posts, and stances are influenced by the nature of the rumor. However, existing stance detection methods often require post-level stance annotations, which are costly to obtain. We propose a novel LLM-enhanced Multiple Instance Learning (MIL) approach to jointly predict post stance and claim class labels, supervised solely by claim labels, using an undirected microblog propagation model. …

Sita: Structurally Imperceptible And Transferable Adversarial Attacks For Stylized Image Generation, Jingdan Kang, Haoxin Yang, Yan Cai, Huaidong Zhang, Xuemiao Xu, Yong Du, Shengfeng He

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Image generation technology has brought significant advancements across various fields but has also raised concerns about data misuse and potential rights infringements, particularly with respect to creating visual artworks. Current methods aimed at safeguarding artworks often employ adversarial attacks. However, these methods face challenges such as poor transferability, high computational costs, and the introduction of noticeable noise, which compromises the aesthetic quality of the original artwork. To address these limitations, we propose a Structurally Imperceptible and Transferable Adversarial (SITA) attacks. SITA leverages a CLIP-based destylization loss, which decouples and disrupts the robust style representation of the image. This disruption hinders …

Open-Set Graph Anomaly Detection Via Normal Structure Regularisation, Qizhou Wang, Guansong Pang, Mahsa Salehi, Xiaokun Xia, Christopher Leckie

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

This paper considers an important Graph Anomaly Detection (GAD) task, namely open-set GAD, which aims to train a detection model using a small number of normal and anomaly nodes (referred to as *seen anomalies*) to detect both seen anomalies and *unseen anomalies* (*i.e*., anomalies that cannot be illustrated the training anomalies). Those labelled training data provide crucial prior knowledge about abnormalities for GAD models, enabling substantially reduced detection errors. However, current supervised GAD methods tend to over-emphasise fitting the seen anomalies, leading to many errors of detecting the unseen anomalies as normal nodes. Further, existing open-set AD models were introduced …

Prioritizing Speech Test Cases, Zhou Yang, Jieke Shi, Muhammad Hilmi Asyrofi, Bowen Xu, Xin Zhou, Donggyun Han, David Lo

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

As Automated Speech Recognition (ASR) systems gain widespread acceptance, there is a pressing need to rigorously test and enhance their performance. Nonetheless, the process of collecting and executing speech test cases is typically both costly and time-consuming. This presents a compelling case for the strategic prioritization of speech test cases, which consist of a piece of audio and the corresponding reference text. The central question we address is: In what sequence should speech test cases be collected and executed to identify the maximum number of errors at the earliest stage? In this study, we introduce PRiOritizing sPeecH tEsT …

Scuzer: A Scheduling Optimization Fuzzer For Tvm, Xiangxiang Chen, Xingwei Lin, Jingyi Wang, Jun Sun, Jiashui Wang, Wenhai Wang

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

The concept of Deep Learning (DL) compiler was proposed to deploy DL models more efficiently on diverse hardware through optimization techniques. As one of the most popular DL compilers, TVM incorporates three levels (high-level, schedule, and low-level) of optimizations, which can inadvertently introduce code logic bugs and build failure bugs. Among these optimizations, scheduling optimization is the core component of DL compilers, which ensures the acceleration of models on all devices. However, the existing works only focus on the testing of high-level and low-level optimizations in TVM, fail to take the most important and challenging intermediate scheduling optimization layer into …

2020-Current year OA Pubs

BACKGROUND: While clinical overlap between Kawasaki disease (KD) and multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) has been evident, information regarding those presenting with shock has been limited. We sought to determine associations with shock within and between diagnosis groups.

METHODS: The International KD Registry enrolled contemporaneous patients with either KD or MIS-C from 39 sites in 7 countries from January 1, 2020, to January 1, 2023. Demographics, clinical features and presentation, management, laboratory values, and outcomes were compared between the diagnosis and shock groups.

RESULTS: Shock at presentation was noted for 19 of 672 KD patients (2.8%) and 653 of …

Femoral Nail And Cement Static Spacer Technique For The Treatment Of Chronic Periprosthetic Knee Infection, Katherine Mistretta, Caroline Granger, Joseph Kromka, Andrew M Schneider Apr 2025

Femoral Nail And Cement Static Spacer Technique For The Treatment Of Chronic Periprosthetic Knee Infection, Katherine Mistretta, Caroline Granger, Joseph Kromka, Andrew M Schneider

2020-Current year OA Pubs

A 2-stage protocol is standard of care treatment in the United States for chronic periprosthetic joint infection of the knee. While many patients benefit from insertion of an articulating spacer, there are instances in which this is not feasible, and a static spacer is indicated. However, many static spacer techniques risk instability and lack durability. The ideal static spacer construct should provide immediate brace-free weight-bearing to maximize function during the spacer stage and, if needed, permit delayed reimplantation in the case of medically high-risk patients. Here, we describe our surgical technique for a femoral nail and cement static spacer in …

Sexually Dimorphic Cardiovascular Impacts Of Prenatal Exposure To A Real-Life Environmental Chemical Mixture In Adult Offspring, Noor Muhammad Khan, Victoria Scott, Mohammad Ghasemzadeh-Hasankolaei, Vasantha Padmanabhan, Arpita Vyas, Neil P Evans, Michelle Bellingham

2020-Current year OA Pubs

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of death that is sexually dimorphic. This study used an ovine model to investigate whether maternal exposure to an environmental chemical (EC) mixture (biosolids) prior to and throughout pregnancy, affected offspring cardiovascular (CV) structure and function in adulthood. CV function of male and female offspring from ewes grazed on either conventionally fertilised (control, C) or biosolids-treated pasture (B) was assessed. Males exhibited higher blood pressure compared to females with no significant effect of EC exposure. Heart rate variability in females suggested reduced autonomic regulation in the B group. EC-exposed males, but not females, …

The Ten Test And Sensory Evaluation Of Hand And Finger Injuries In The Emergency Department, Emilie H Lothet, Aaron J Lacy, Elizabeth B Odom

2020-Current year OA Pubs

BACKGROUND: Hand and finger injuries are a common presenting complaint to the emergency department (ED) and are associated with significant morbidity. Neurologic evaluation of these injuries is a crucial component of the patient assessment and can be done via a variety of testing methods.

DISCUSSION: Although most taught and cited in the ED literature, the two-point discrimination test for sensation has several drawbacks, including limited reproducibility and reliability. Although often utilized by hand surgical specialists, the Semmes-Weinstein monofilament test and the Weinstein Enhanced Sensory Test are not practical for the emergency physician due to the need for specialized equipment and …

We investigated the role of Triggering Receptor Expressed on Myeloid cells 2 (TREM2) in myelin regeneration in the brain. TREM2 is a receptor that activates microglia, which are crucial for clearing myelin debris and promoting remyelination. Previous studies in a mouse model of demyelination induced by the copper-chelating agent Cuprizone (CPZ) have shown that stimulation of TREM2 with a monoclonal antibody reduces demyelination, while deleting the

Springboard To Article V (Or Electoral Democracy And The End Of Constitutional Amendment In The Nation And States), Wilfred U. Codrington Iii

Articles

Drafted in exceedingly sparing terms and notoriously difficult to amend, the U S. Constitution is falling short in one of the most important functions of a government charter: establishing and maintaining a fair and just electoral framework-marked by rules that promote the values of equality, participation, competition, and transparency in elections. That is, the Constitution increasingly fails to preserve electoral democracy even as the nation's systems for voting and elections are plagued by a cascade of problems. State constitutions, though not uniform, are uniformly easier to amend than the national charter and tend to be better stewards of electoral democracy. …

Weapons Of Mass Disruption: How Small States Use Cyber To Resist Larger Powers, Russell Alexander Korb Apr 2025

Weapons Of Mass Disruption: How Small States Use Cyber To Resist Larger Powers, Russell Alexander Korb

Graduate Program in International Studies Theses & Dissertations

This paper examines the ways in which small states can engage larger actors using cyber- attacks. Since the end of both World Wars, small states have increased in both numbers and relevance, with strong international institutions and norms against military aggression allowing small states to gain legitimacy by the very act of participating in the international system. However, although small states can now do more than simply choose a larger, stronger benefactor to ward off their enemies, they still cannot defy larger powers outright due to the still- dramatic difference in capabilities between them. Those small states interested in confronting …

Closing The Gap In American History Knowledge In K-12 Students, Benjamin D. Langholz

Masters Projects

Research indicates there is a decline in student comprehension and engagement in Social Studies knowledge among secondary students in the United States. Students lack access to diverse voices in their history classrooms, which may lead to an unbalanced perspective of American history. While there are multiple reasons behind this lack of diversity in the secondary classroom, this paper focuses on three culprits: Lack of diversity in state standards, lack of diversity in class curriculums, and that teachers may lack the knowledge to teach multiple viewpoints to students. One way to combat these problems is by implementing culturally relevant pedagogy, which …

Seasonality Of Groundfish Community Structure And Habitat Associations On A Mesophotic Reef In Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary: Implications For Conservation And Management, Lauren Parker Apr 2025

Seasonality Of Groundfish Community Structure And Habitat Associations On A Mesophotic Reef In Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary: Implications For Conservation And Management, Lauren Parker

Capstone Projects and Master's Theses

Management of marine ecosystems requires accurate, quantitative, and spatially explicit information on species distributions at scales that are relevant to the management process (J. Ward et al. 1999). This study investigates fish assemblages at depths between 30 and 40 meters, which are relatively understudied compared to shallower ( < 30 m) waters, surveyed extensively via SCUBA, and deeper (>40 m) waters, which are surveyed using submersibles. This research addresses ecological and management-based questions about seasonal and depth-related shifts in groundfish community structure, the role of oceanographic variables in predicting these shifts, and microhabitat selectivity as predictors of community assemblage. To evaluate species abundance, biomass, diversity, and microhabitat associations associations on …
