College Healthcare Providers: Are They Prepared To Treat Students Following A Disclosure Of Sexual Assault?, Torrie Piasecki, Lindsay Gietzen
Pacific Journal of Health
Sexual assault is happening on university and college campuses. This study aims to explore the gap in care relative to how on-campus healthcare providers respond to college students following a disclosure of sexual assault and the access to resources provided to them. A sample of seven providers from two major college campuses in Stockton, CA responded to a questionnaire about formal disclosures of sexual assault. Each participant self-reported their knowledge of trauma-informed care (TIC) and what they understand about their campus resources for survivors of sexual assault. Results from participants who completed the survey indicated that although most knew where …

High Density Interconnect Chip On Board, N/A
High Density Interconnect Chip On Board, N/A
Defensive Publications Series
This paper is generally directed to systems, methods, and devices that facilitate direct attachment of a high density silicon or semiconductor chip to an embedded coreless printed circuit board (“PCB”). The technology disclosed provides an assembly and method for manufacturing directed to a new coreless PCB (“CPCB”) with an embedded coreless substrate, as well as systems incorporating CPCBs. The CPCB enables direct bonding of a high density silicon chip (“HDSC”) to the CPCB as the last step in the system manufacturing process. This is in contrast to the traditional manufacturing process of first bonding an HDSC (with or without an …

Securing The Future Of Ai: A Deep Compliance Review Of Anthropic, Google Deepmind, And Openai Under Soc 2, Iso 27001, And Nist, Ramkumar Bharathan
Defensive Publications Series
As foundation models like Claude, Gemini, and OpenAI become integral to enterprise AI solutions, the need for rigorous, standards-aligned security evaluation grows. This paper presents an expert-level comparative audit of the SOC 2 controls implemented by Anthropic, Google DeepMind, and OpenAI, drawing from public attestations, model cards, and technical documentation. Going beyond traditional compliance, the assessment incorporates frameworks from ISO 27001, NIST, and AI-specific risk models to benchmark each provider’s security maturity across five domains: organizational governance, infrastructure controls, operational security, data protection, and AI-specific safeguards.
Key findings indicate that Google demonstrates enterprise-grade maturity with advanced automation, zero-trust architecture, and …

Decolonizing The Future Through The Memory Of Subalternized Knowledges: Looking At The Production Of Three Latin American Artists From A Decolonial Perspective, Luciana Amormino, Anna Cavalcanti
Kritika Kultura
This article examines the artistic production of three Latin American artists, two Brazilians and one Chilean: Rosana Paulino (1967-), Moara Tupinambá (1983-), and Cecilia Vicuña (1948-). Vicuña and Tupinambá, artists of Indigenous descent, incorporate the epistemologies of native peoples into their works, considering the differences in ethnicity, territory, and generation that distinguish them. Paulino, in turn, a Black woman from the outskirts of São Paulo (SP/Brazil), addresses issues related to Black ancestry in her artistic production, particularly those linked to the experiences of enslaved African populations. Despite the distinct trajectories of these artists, a common element emerges in their artistic …
Deimperialization Of Difficult Heritage Museums Of Political Repression In Kazakhstan, Dmitriy Melnikov, Anastasia Mitrofanova, Svetlana Riazanova
Deimperialization Of Difficult Heritage Museums Of Political Repression In Kazakhstan, Dmitriy Melnikov, Anastasia Mitrofanova, Svetlana Riazanova
Kritika Kultura
In this article, we employ a decolonial methodology to question whose voices and histories are highlighted and whose are silenced in museum exhibitions. This methodology is employed to analyze the memorial museums situated on sites associated with state-induced violence, or, more precisely, within the premises of the Karaganda Corrective Labor Camp (the museum in Dolinka and the “ALZHIR” memorial complex). Our objective is to examine how these museums endeavor to reclaim these sites as significant for national history and identity. The museums employ various strategies to deimperialize the message conveyed through their exhibits and to find a balance between the …

Reimagining Decolonization In East Asia: The Mingeikan And Memories Of Japan’S Colonization Of Korea, Christina Mengying Wang
Kritika Kultura
After discovering beauty in the “folk crafts” (mingei) of Korea, Yanagi Sōetsu (1889–1961), an art critic, philosopher, and founder of the Mingei Movement, established the Japan Folk Crafts Museum (Nihon Mingeikan) in 1936. The Mingeikan, with its roots in Japan’s colonization of Korea, plays an uneven role in mediating the postmemory (the memory of those with no direct experience of WWII) of the current generation because the museum does not provide explicit reference to its colonial roots in its exhibitions. Yanagi’s original sentiments in comparison to the museum’s current iteration make for an important case study in understanding how decolonization …

Decolonizing Memory: Omnibus Life Writing In Post-1989 Romania, Ioana Luca
Kritika Kultura
This essay conceptualizes omnibus life writing—collective autobiographical volumes—as a means of decolonizing memories of communism and the transition in Romania. I argue that omnibus life writing offers a viable framework for challenging entrenched postcommunist narratives and fostering a relational and intersectional model of remembering the recent past. Through an analysis of Ioana Pârvulescu’s Și eu am trăit în communism [I’ve Also Lived under Communism, 2015], Dan Lungu and Amelia Gheorghiţă’s Cărţi, filme, muzici şi alte distracţii din communism [Books, Movies, Music, and Other Entertainment under Communism, 2014] and Cartea copilăriilor [The Book of Childhoods, 2016], and the Prima dată series …
Decolonizing Memory And Examining The Naga Identity In The Works Of Easterine Kire, Paloma Chaterji
Decolonizing Memory And Examining The Naga Identity In The Works Of Easterine Kire, Paloma Chaterji
Kritika Kultura
Colonization can be twofold: external and internal. For a socio-geographic space like Nagaland, a state in the Northeast of India, colonialism has presented itself through Britain, and even India itself; these multiple faces of colonialism have influenced and destabilized this hilly state. It was the British who had the maximum influence on Nagaland. India, even after its independence from the British in 1947, implemented certain strategies that smelt of British imperialism, whichultimately affected Nagaland and Northeast India as a whole. Thus, referencing the novels by the Naga woman writer, Easterine Kire, namely, Sky is My Father: A Naga Village Remembered …

Paabat: Provincializing Postmemory In Merlie Alunan’S Poems On The Balangiga Encounter Of 1901, Ian Harvey A. Claros
Kritika Kultura
This essay deploys the Waray word for haunting, apparition, and feeling—paabat—to examine Merlie Alunan’s poems about the Balangiga Encounter of 1901 and its aftermath in the anthology Running with Ghosts and Other Poems (2017). This historical event transpired when the townsfolk launched a surprise attack against the American soldiers stationed in Balangiga, a town in Samar, Philippines. Despite its success, the Americans harshly retaliated by pacifying the entire island through militarization, massacre, and arson. Alunan’s poetry attempts to reconstruct a range of events and subjectivities that constitute this traumatic history. Initially, it can be posited that her poetics and self-reflexivity …

War, Violence, And Womanhood: (Re)Membering Women’S Military Narratives In China’S Revolution And Civil War, Szu-Nuo Chou
Kritika Kultura
In this ethnographic study, the author interviewed Chinese women aged 85 and older to explore their childhood and adolescent experiences of exile and military violence in the context of World War II and Chinese Civil War. Throughout the years of China’s revolution and interparty conflicts, ordinary Chinese women suffered from war-related violence—not only on the frontlines, but especially in domestic spaces, where the head of the household (e.g., father, husband, or son) engaged in a variety of violent and misogynistic performances associated with culturally-rooted Chinese patriarchy and masculinity. The author argues that in our current political discourse, the Chinese revolution and …

“Ghosts At The Banquet”: The Kenyan Mau Mau In Global Memory, Christian Alvarado
Kritika Kultura
In the decades since Kenyan independence from British rule, scholarship regarding memory of the Mau Mau Uprising has been bound by its nationalisms. “Nationalism” in the plural is apt because of the ways of remembering Mau Mau. It has investigated pressing issues in both Kenya and Great Britain itself. This article engages both foundational and recent scholarship in this vein in order to identify the set of assumptions that has shaped these debates and point toward new ways of thinking beyond them. In pursuance of new avenues in the study of global memories of Mau Mau, it also attempts a …
Decolonizing National And Imperial Memories: From Postcolonial To Decolonial And Beyond, Jarula M.I. Wegner
Decolonizing National And Imperial Memories: From Postcolonial To Decolonial And Beyond, Jarula M.I. Wegner
Kritika Kultura
This article describes a discursive shift at the beginning of the twenty-first century in academic and public debates from postcolonial to decolonial critiques and asks what this means for the study of national and imperial memories. While some critics, like Robert J. C. Young, see this shift within postcolonial discourse, others, like Sylvia Wynter, believe that postcolonial theory itself needs to be decolonized. Regardless of whether one believes the shift is taking place within postcolonial studies or caused from outside, in any case it presents at least twelve complex transformations. While many of the characteristics hark back to a longer …

Decolonizing National And Imperial Memories: Introduction, Jarula M.I. Wegner, Jocelyn S. Martin, Mary M. Mccarthy, Ruramisai Charumbira
Kritika Kultura
Building on Frantz Fanon’s insights into the intricate entanglements of colonialism, nation-states, and memories, there have been increasing calls to decolonize national and imperial memories. This introduction sketches the wider historical context within which these calls emerged, the collaboration that led to this special issue, and the contributions it makes to the wider debate. The introduction observes a general rise in calls for decolonization around the globe. The appeal to decolonize national and imperial memories was a response to at least three significant historical developments. First, the insight that mid-twentieth century decolonization remained incomplete, second, the widespread “memory boom” of the …
Grotian Images Of The Sea In Law And Philosophy, José Duke Bagulaya
Grotian Images Of The Sea In Law And Philosophy, José Duke Bagulaya
Kritika Kultura
Against the backdrop of modern states’ cadastralization of the sea, this article discusses images of the sea in three texts that are analyzed as figures of resistance to contemporary forms of territorialization: Hugo Grotius’s Mare Liberum [The Free Sea] (1609), Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari’s A Thousand Plateaus (1981), and the South China Sea (SCS) Arbitration Award (2016). It is argued that the recurring images of the sea in these three texts, which may be collectively called “Grotian images of the sea,” constitute a thought that resists states’ territorializing tendencies by grounding legal challenges to excessive claims to the sea. …

Living The Coast: On Property And Possession, The Netherlands And Indonesia, And The Free Sea, Rick Dolphijn

When Sigmund Freud visited the Netherlands in the 1920s, he oversaw the Dutch landscape while travelling by rowing boats, carriages, and on foot. The reclamation of the Zuyderzee especially made an impression. He concluded that this drive for culture to control nature was similar to how the Ego wanted to control the Id. Of course, this was not a recent phenomenon in the Netherlands. During two earlier visits (in 1908 and 1910), Freud visited the major museums of the Netherlands where he was especially interested in the landscape painters of the seventeenth century. Landscape is actually one of those Dutch …

Transversal Symbiogenesis: Mapping A Nonlinear Postcolonial Future, Chun-Mei Chuang
Kritika Kultura
Gaia’s symbiotic imagery and the Anthropocene crisis characterize the early twenty-firstvcentury, shaping a historical consciousness where we are becoming Isabelle Stengers’sv“cosmopolitical idiots.” In this context, we practice “slowing down” and regeneration, always with historical specificities and intricate networks of relations. This paper reevaluates Aimé Césaire and Frantz Fanon’s vivid transcorporeal language, charged with the violent energy of resistance, through the lenses of symbiogenesis, metamorphosis, and hybridogenesis. I propose a nuanced understanding of postcoloniality that challenges normative notions of identity and violence, advocating for a nonlinear trans-species future. I emphasize the urgent need for a planetary postcolonial turn that embraces hybridity, …

Transcultural Identity In Tan Twan Eng’S The Garden Of Evening Mists, Zhen Wang, Kean Yew Lee, Kee Chye Ho
Kritika Kultura
The Garden of Evening Mists by Tan Twan Eng narrates the progression from apprenticeship of a Malaysian Chinese woman, Teoh Yun Ling, to her romantic relationship with a Japanese gardener, Nakamura Aritomo, expanding the space for identity writing in Malaysian English literature that reflects the interactions among diverse cultures. This article discusses Yun Ling’s adaptation of Japanese culture at the acculturation stage, her rediscovery of Chinese culture at the deculturation stage, and her transcultural practice of different cultures at the neoculturation stage, in light of transculturation theory. It argues that Yun Ling’s ongoing negotiation, while involving a collision between the …

Reconstructing Normalcy: Identity And Trauma In The Last Of Us Video Games Saga, Jaime Oliveros Garcia
Kritika Kultura
This article argues that normalcy and trauma are processes central in understanding the narratives of the video games saga The Last of Us. As such, the article will, after a brief introduction, offer the theoretical framework, in which identity, avatarization, normalcy, and trauma will be defined. These terms are key for the analysis: with the players’ connivance, the narrative delves into the identity of the main characters of the saga so that players can infer how they aim to find a normalcy that is, because of the circumstances that the game offers as the plot, unattainable. Afterwards, the article will …

This article will analyze a range of Australian picture books that both explore the topic of disability and serve as educational tools for exploring diversity issues. The books were identified in a survey administered by the State Library of New South Wales (NSW) public library service, which identified 62 books that deal with diversity. Thirteen of the 62 books were assessed as having characters with a disability—including autism, mental illness, dementia, spina bifida, neurodiversity, physical disability, deafness, and implied but unidentified disabilities. This article will analyze the approach adopted in each of the picture books using Rudine Sims Bishop’s three …

The Posthuman Evolution Of A Hazardous Transcorporeality: Tracy K. Smith’S Poetics Of Water From “Thirst” To Wade In The Water, Bahareh Azad
Kritika Kultura
This study analyzes Tracy K. Smith’s poetry through the lens of ecological materialism and Stacy Alaimo’s concept of transcorporeality, which emphasizes the fluidity and vitality of bodies and their interconnectedness. Tracing the evolution of Smith’s ethicopolitical concerns, I explore the elemental and transcorporeal forces in her work that create a poetics of fluidity. Additionally, I argue that Smith’s poetic trajectory marks a significant shift away from humanist frameworks, advancing toward a politically charged conception of Black marginality. By examining Smith’s poem “Watershed” in relation to Muriel Rukeyser’s The Book of the Dead, this study investigates the development of a posthuman …

Doctor of Nursing Practice Scholarly Projects
Implementing evidenced-based practice (EBP) changes at large healthcare organizations is often a lengthy and difficult process, and sustainability is even harder. Many organizations continue to implement changes in EBP without using a standard approach or an evidenced-base practice model. One large healthcare organization in the Midwest is implementing a Professional Development and Advancement Program (also known as clinical ladder) for the direct care nurses across the health system. This is a proposed project and the program will be implemented using the Iowa Model for evidence-based practice change as a framework for guiding the implementation. The implementation team will use the …

7 Plus Minus 2 Law Revisited: Alternative Geometric Explanation, Mayan Arithmetic, And Using 9- And 18-Based Numbers In Jewish Tradition, Julio C. Urenda, Olga Kosheleva, Vladik Kreinovich
Departmental Technical Reports (CS)
A recent paper showed that to make sure that the movements in the crowd are not chaotic, the directions of all the motions should deviate from some fixed direction by no more than 13 degrees. We show that this results provides a new geometric explanation for the seven plus minus two law in psychology, according to which we can keep in mind no more than 7 plus minus 2 items. We also show that all this is related to the somewhat mysterious appearance of 9- and 18-based number systems in Jewish and Mayan traditions.
