Evaluation Of A Classroom Management Program For Improving Student-Teacher Relationships, Social Skills Instruction, And Teacher Self-Efficacy, Alex Mason, Ying Guo, Ashley T. Scudder, Kathleen A. Clancy, H C. Yeh, Richard Spoth, Tricia K. Neppl, Chungyeol Shin, Patrick M. Tyler

Journal of Educational Research and Innovation

This study tests the effectiveness of Well Managed Schools (WMS), an established classroom management program, for improving student-teacher relationship quality, teacher social skills instruction, and teacher self-efficacy. Participants were 415 Grade 1-5 teachers in 49 schools representing 24 school districts across six states in the United States. Teachers were assigned randomly to either the WMS condition (n = 210) or a usual classroom management practices control condition (n = 205). Data were collected via teacher surveys and classroom observations across five waves over two years. Results from analyses of covariance showed a significantly higher adjusted mean level of …

Smart Mobility Technologies In Urban Areas Of Emerging Economies: A Bibliometric Analysis, Peter Mugisha, Rose Luke, Joash Mageto, Hossana Twinomurinzi Aug 2025

Smart Mobility Technologies In Urban Areas Of Emerging Economies: A Bibliometric Analysis, Peter Mugisha, Rose Luke, Joash Mageto, Hossana Twinomurinzi

African Conference on Information Systems and Technology

Despite the adoption of smart mobility solutions in emerging economies, challenges such as traffic congestion, pollution and inadequate infrastructure still persist. This study analyses 540 scholarly articles published between 2003 and 2024 to evaluate how smart mobility technologies – such as Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) – have been implemented in these regions. Data was retrieved from Scopus and Web of Science and analysed using Biblioshiny for bibliometric mapping and Atlas.ti for thematic analysis. The review identifies research trends and gaps, showing how ITS has improved transport management in cities like Nairobi, and …

Coping With Misinformation In Ghanaian Online Communities: A Grounded Theory Approach, Alfred Dela Nyadroh, Karen Magnus-George, Joseph Budu

African Conference on Information Systems and Technology

Online communities fulfil our innate desire for connection in an increasingly connected world. While offering benefits, they also present disadvantages, attracting significant scholarly attention—especially as their use surged during pandemic-related isolation. Key unresolved questions remain regarding these platforms.

This paper identifies and analyses prevalent misinformation types within online communities, examines how communities create or contribute to its spread, and explores their strategies for mitigating it. Using a grounded theory approach and semi-structured questionnaires, the study reveals that common misinformation forms include misconceptions, fake news, fraud, rumours, and cyberbullying. Crucially, online communities propagate misinformation primarily by sharing unverified content. To combat …

Cyberbullying And Academic Outcomes: Investigating The Mediating Role Of Hookup Site Usage Among Senior High School Students, Rubby Aku Ameh, David Asumadu-Boateng, Jefferson Sigfred Seyaram Bansa, Harry Adjetey Ashong

African Conference on Information Systems and Technology

The proliferation of digital communication technologies has reshaped adolescent interactions, with social media and hookup apps becoming common spaces for connection and exposure to online risks. This study explores the link between cyberbullying via hookup apps and its effects on academic performance and psychosocial well-being among senior high school students in Ghana. Drawing on Social Learning Theory and General Strain Theory, it examines how online victimization influences emotional health and academic outcomes. A mixed methods approach combined survey data from 300 participants with interviews involving 40 students, parents, and school counsellors. Results show 31.7% of students experienced cyberbullying on platforms …

Cybersecurity And Intention To Use Mobile Banking Applications, Ishmael Chikoo, Salah Kabanda

African Conference on Information Systems and Technology

The adoption rate of mobile banking amongst consumers remains low, especially in developing countries where there is a knowledge gap in understanding why consumers do not engage in the frequent use of mobile banking applications. Given that most financial institutions see mobile banking as a strategy for their competitive advantage; it is important that they understand how best to address consumer’s fears brought about by cybersecurity threats.
