Creating Healthy Work Environments (CHWE)

Better, healthy work environments (HWEs) are associated with improved nurse outcomes (e.g., higher job satisfaction and retention) and patient outcomes (e.g., quality of care and patient satisfaction) (Brooks Carthon, 2021; Lake et al., 2019; Ulrich et al., 2019; Wei et al., 2018). However, creating HWEs can be challenging in both military and civilian health care settings. As part of the development of the Joint Professional Practice Model collaboration among nurses in the Army, Navy, and Air Force of the United States military, we aimed to identify evidence-based strategies to improve HWEs in a unique population of civilian and military nurses …

Influence Of Leadership Styles Upon Staff Well-Being: Strategies To Create A Healthy Work Environment, Alice Kohler, Kenn M. Kirksey, Stacie Marion

Creating Healthy Work Environments (CHWE)

Background: Nurses comprise the largest segment of healthcare and are essential to the mission of creating a healthy work environment (Haddah, Annamaraju, & Toney-Butler, 2022). Global shortages have endangered nursing care delivery effectiveness and exacerbated nurses' stress, burnout and intent to leave their jobs (Tamata, Mohammadnezhad, & Tamani, 2021). Contributing factors include: 1) staff shortages; 2) workload; 3) no advancement opportunities; 4) physical and psychological job-associated risks; and 5) lack of leadership support (Tamata, Mohammadnezhad, & Tamani, 2021). Exploitive leadership styles often result in psychological detachment among direct reports (Majeed & Fatima, 2020). Researchers have inferred that management styles have …

International Arab Journal of Dentistry

Rehabilitating the maxilla in the patient who has had surgical resection for mucormycosis poses a distinctive set of anatomical, surgical, and prosthetic challenges. The extensive maxillary bone loss after aggressive debridement often makes traditional implant-supported prosthetic options impossible. In these circumstances, zygomatic implants have proven to be a predictable, graftless solution, especially in patients with extremely atrophic maxillae. Where the bone loss is severe, the quad zygoma procedure—two implants for each zygomatic arch—is possible to support full arch rehabilitation with a fixed prosthesis. This report presents the successful rehabilitation of oral function and appearance in a patient with post-mucormycosis edentulous …

This study provides a quantitative framework for wellbeing outcome prediction through intentional cognitive pattern alteration. We demonstrated 81.67% accurate prediction of wellbeing states, in a three-level classification (Low, Medium, High), using a Random Forest classifier with 16 features from psychological, physiological, and behavioural metrics. Our model singles out the gratitude cultivation (21.3%) and peace duration (23.7%) as the strongest predictors of positive well-being outcomes, which provides empirical support to traditional approaches of cognitive training with empirical evidence. Analysis of 1,000 synthetic cases shows that consistent practice of positive thought patterns over 3-6 months can strongly shift wellbeing states, with key …

User Behaviour Prediction In E-Commerce Using Logistic Regression, Wei-Wen Lee, Noramiza Hashim, Shaymaa Al-Juboori

Journal of Informatics and Web Engineering

From a psychological perspective, human behaviour reflects underlying thoughts and decision-making patterns, for example, consumer behaviour may correlate with the purchase decisions. In the fast-evolving e-commerce industry, predicting user behaviour is essential for enhancing marketing strategies, improving customer experiences, and increasing sales. However, traditional heuristic (e.g. market basket analysis) approaches to analyse buyer behaviour are often rigid and fail to adapt to complex consumer interactions. This research work develops a predictive model that analyses user behaviour based on data such as historical purchasing patterns and demographic attributes. Based on a review of previous studies, Logistic Regression (LR) is utilized as …

Billiken As Transcultural Object From American Mascot To Japanese Pop Deity, M.W. Shores Oct 2025

Billiken As Transcultural Object From American Mascot To Japanese Pop Deity, M.W. Shores

Asia Pacific Perspectives

This article examines Billiken’s transcultural journey from American novelty mascot (1908) to cultural icon, illuminating early twentieth-century Pacific exchange networks and patterns of cultural adaptation. Drawing on American and Japanese archives, it demonstrates how this commercial figure, born from Progressive Era optimism and incorporating Japanese (and Orientalist) design elements, was transformed within Japanese religious and cultural frameworks. The study analyzes Billiken’s metamorphosis from “good luck” commodity to quasi-religious icon, particularly in Osaka’s Shinsekai district, where strategic marketing drove his its late twentieth-century revival after decades of obscurity. While largely forgotten in America and elsewhere, Billiken’s endurance in Osaka challenges narratives …

Is Seeing Believing? Comparing Students’ Mediated Social Learning About Public Speaking Anxiety Using Audio-Only Or Audio-Visual Instruction, Peter B. Gregg

Basic Communication Course Annual

This study examines how mediated instruction affects public speaking anxiety (PSA), self-efficacy, and motivation. Grounded in social cognitive and multimedia learning theories, 137 students viewed or listened to a brief lecture on PSA control. Results showed significant improvements in self-efficacy, reduced PSA, and increased motivation, with no significant differences between audio-only and audio-video formats. These findings suggest that audio-only instruction can be as effective as video-based content, offering an accessible alternative for diverse learners. The study highlights the value of brief, mediated interventions for improving public speaking outcomes in both traditional and online learning environments.
