Understanding The Underutilization Of The Campus Recreation Facility: A Mixed-Methods Examination Of Basic Psychological Need Satisfaction, Social Physique Anxiety, Sense Of Community, And Physical Environment Barriers, Caden M. Pfingsten
Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice
Campus recreation facilities have been identified as important contributors to student well-being, academic persistence, and institutional belonging. Despite these documented benefits, a persistent gap exists between available services and actual student utilization at many institutions. This study examined the psychological, social, and environmental factors associated with students' underutilization of the Campus Recreation Facility (CRF) at a mid-sized Midwestern public university in favor of paid off-campus commercial gym memberships.
Using a cross-sectional survey design, 169 students completed a battery of validated and researcher-adapted instruments assessing basic psychological need satisfaction (autonomy, competence, and relatedness), Sense of Community, and social physique anxiety across …

Sustaining a spinal cord injury (SCI) leads to a loss of performance skills and restricts the ability to participate in meaningful activities as one could prior to injury. Community-dwelling individuals with SCI, encounter unmet needs related to psychological health, lifestyle, community mobility, and self-efficacy, emphasizing the true importance of community programs in addressing and supporting the long-term management of SCI. Occupational therapy professionals are skilled at connecting the dots between the person and their environment. Using an occupational therapy lens, this doctoral capstone aims to answer this research question: How do different peer mentoring methods facilitate community re-engagement within the …

Exploring The Influence Of Quadriceps Peak Torque And Rate Of Torque Development On Running Mechanics After Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction, Amit M. Gohil, Gregory S. Hawk, Darren L. Johnson, Christopher S. Fry, Brian W. Noehren
Physical Therapy Faculty Publications
Background: After anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR), chronic changes in knee joint biomechanics during higher level tasks, such as running, may negatively impact long-term knee joint health. Among the factors that contribute to these chronic changes, the influence of quadriceps strength on knee joint biomechanics during running is not well understood. Hypothesis: Higher involved limb quadriceps strength (peak torque and rate of torque development [RTD]) and limb symmetry index (LSI) will be positively associated with greater peak knee flexion angle and peak knee extensor moment during running. Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Level of Evidence: Level 3. Methods: Peak knee extensor …

The Empirical Double Standard: Opinion Surveys Across The Civil–Criminal Divide, Kay L. Levine, Bernard Chao

Across different legal domains, liability doctrines recognize the value of community input. But do courts truly listen to the community’s voice when deciding these sorts of cases? This study is the first to explore how courts treat community opinion survey evidence within both civil and criminal law. To that end, we comprehensively examine trademark, false advertising, patent, antitrust, obscenity, death penalty, and search cases.
Our research uncovers a significant asymmetry: Courts readily admit survey evidence in civil proceedings but systematically exclude it in criminal cases. This asymmetry does not appear to stem from structural differences between civil and criminal litigation …

The Mental Health Mastermind: How Noah Kahan Reduces Stigma, Meghan Deeley
ENG 490 Senior Seminar Capstone
Mental health anti-stigma strategies have been largely studied; however, limited research examines how musicians integrate lyrics and marketing strategies to reduce mental health stigma. This study fills the gap by analyzing the work of Noah Kahan, whose cultural prominence places him as an influential individual in normalizing mental health discourse. Drawing on existing research in anti-stigma campaigns, social media storytelling, and lyrical analysis, this study examines The Busyhead Project Instagram content and “Stick Season” lyrics. Using qualitative methods, findings illustrate that Kahan's incorporation of open reading lyrics with contact-based content enhances effectiveness of anti-stigma messaging. This research is a framework …

The Effects Of Bilingual Services In Adaptively Leading Shared Parishes, John Patrick Cahill
The Effects Of Bilingual Services In Adaptively Leading Shared Parishes, John Patrick Cahill
Dissertations
Shared parishes are churches that have services in more than one language. Pastors struggle with how to lead, unify, and pastorally respond as populations shift and demographics change. One-third of the Catholic parishes in the United States have Mass in more than one language every Sunday. Leaders need to adapt by exploring bilingual services as a way to be more effective and inclusive. This descriptive quantitative study examined three blocks of parishioners at a particular shared parish: (a) those who attend Mass in English, (b) those who attend Mass in Spanish, and (c) those who attend the bilingual Mass. A …

Holistics And Foundations Of Culture-Space Economics Holistics And Foundations Of Culture-Space Economics Volume I Holistics And Foundations Of Culture-Space Economics: Volume I, Victor L. Tonn
Faculty and Staff - Ebooks
Situated in the light of holistics and its various formulations of systrix, this book advances a series of frontier lectures on culture–space economics, ultimately grounded in the mutual economy. It develops a coherent framework of wealth creation and accumulation coupled with humane distribution, through which the economic mechanisms of twenty-first-century earth–space transformations are explored. Beyond this theoretical inquiry, the book engages in an in-depth analysis of hegemonic competition between Type I and Type II economies (in abstraction, China and the United States), with the broader aim of discerning conditions conducive to enduring universal peace.

School counselors are First-Responders as the role and responsibilities continue to increase and the needs of the school community changes. Diversity has notably increased within the last century in school settings. While, the impact of the COVID-19 crisis has shed light on the gaping and persistent inequities faced by marginalized school communities, the heightened racial crisis of 2020 serves as an additional impact to the students within vulnerable communities. School counselors are expected to support students in navigating the impact that these crises bring. The demand for school closure forced students to shift to online platforms. The intersection of the …
