Introduction: This rise in vaping has become a significant public health concern. This mixed-methods study aims to assess the impact of vaping cessation infographics on different cessation motivation and gather feedback regarding how the infographic could be further improved.
Methods: Current e-cigarette users completed an online cross-sectional survey in January 2022 through Prolific®. Participants evaluated a vaping cessation infographic. Eligible participants were adults aged 19-64 years, US residents, fluent in English, and current e-cigarette users. Participants completed a questionnaire with questions regarding demographics, e-cigarette use, and assessment of the liking of infographics. Poisson regressions were conducted to assess the associations …

A Qualitative Examination Of The Motivations For Homeschooling Among Black Americans, Portia J. Witt
A Qualitative Examination Of The Motivations For Homeschooling Among Black Americans, Portia J. Witt
LSU Doctoral Dissertations
This qualitative phenomenological study explored the motivations and lived experiences of African American homeschooling families. Twelve Black parents from multiple states participated in semi-structured interviews. Data were analyzed using Moustakas’ (1994) Modified Stevick–Colaizzi–Keen method and coded thematically using NVivo. Nine themes emerged: autonomy, holistic education, community belonging, online networks, public resources, curriculum gaps, personal values, effective learning, and legacy of harm. While racialization in schools—including tracking, microaggressions, and misidentification—contributed to participants’ decisions, motivations also reflected intersectional factors such as faith, disability, mental health needs, giftedness, and a desire for cultural protection and flexible learning. Findings suggest homeschooling serves as a …
Scaling Pedestrian Crossing Analysis To 100 U.S. Cities Via Ai-Based Segmentation Of Satellite Imagery, Marcel E. Moran, Arunav Gupta, Jiali Qian, Debra Laefer
Scaling Pedestrian Crossing Analysis To 100 U.S. Cities Via Ai-Based Segmentation Of Satellite Imagery, Marcel E. Moran, Arunav Gupta, Jiali Qian, Debra Laefer
Faculty Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity
Accurately measuring street dimensions is essential to evaluating how their design influences both travel behavior and safety. However, gathering street-level information at city-scale with precision is difficult given the quantity and complexity of urban intersections. To address this challenge in the context of pedestrian crossings — a crucial component of walkability — we introduce a scalable and accurate method for automatically measuring crossing distance at both marked and unmarked crosswalks, applied to America’s 100 largest cities. First, OpenStreetMap coordinates were used to retrieve satellite imagery of intersections throughout each city — totaling roughly three million images. Next, Meta’s Segment Anything …

Ipo Pricing And Performance: Market Insights With A Green Lens, Amit Kumar Singh, Shivani Kalra, Kanak Jain, Kashish Soni
Management Dynamics
Background: Research on Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) in emerging markets has largely centred on under-pricing and short-term returns, with limited attention to sustainability-oriented issuers. This study addresses that gap by examining the role of green innovation, defined as IPOs issued by firms with explicit environmental sustainability frameworks in shaping IPO outcomes in India.
Subject: The analysis covers 393 IPOs listed on the National Stock Exchange between 2012 and 2023, distinguishing Green and Non-Green issuers to assess comparative market performance under varying conditions and price bands.
Materials and Methods: The Normalized Raw Return Spread (NRRS) methodology and multiple regression analysis are …
Better Safe Than Sorry: Preventing Systemic Risks From Fintech Firm Insolvency In India, Manas Rohilla, Vaibhav Nishad
Better Safe Than Sorry: Preventing Systemic Risks From Fintech Firm Insolvency In India, Manas Rohilla, Vaibhav Nishad
Indian Journal of Law and Technology
The Financial Technology (“FinTech”) sector in India has stood at the forefront of global financial innovation. However, this rapid expansion has also exposed systemic vulnerabilities that threaten the stability of the financial ecosystem. The Synapse bankruptcy in the United States serves as a cautionary tale, revealing the cascading risks posed by FinTech failures, including concentration risks, spillovers, and cyber vulnerabilities. India’s regulatory framework remains ill-equipped to address these challenges, leaving critical gaps in insolvency management for FinTech entities. This article undertakes a comprehensive analysis of systemic risks arising due to financial distress and insolvency situations in FinTech and proposes a …
