Identifying Risk Factors Influencing Traffic Accidents For Baghdad Expressways, Hasan Joni, Mustafa Jasim Mar 2026

Identifying Risk Factors Influencing Traffic Accidents For Baghdad Expressways, Hasan Joni, Mustafa Jasim

Engineering and Technology Journal

In this paper, the SPSS program (version 25) and Binary Logistic Regression Model were used to implement and identify the risk factors that affect traffic accidents on Baghdad highways. Due to the increase in the number of traffic accidents that led to injuries and deaths in Iraq during the past years and the lack of specialized studies in traffic accidents, especially on highways, this required the preparation of a study to know the causes of accidents and to explore the factors that have a relative impact on (the severity of the accident). Four highways in the capital, Baghdad, were chosen …

Managing The Excess Floodwaters In The Lake Hemrin Using Remote Sensing And Gis Techniques, Hussain Muhamed, Mustafa Hamoodi, Abd Alrazzak Ziboon

Engineering and Technology Journal

Lake Hemrin is located in the middle east of Iraq, about 50 km from the Iraqi-Iranian border. The lake is the main fish source and provides water for nearby farms. However, due to various socio-economic and environmental management issues, the Hemrin system is a difficult water resources challenge. Moreover, Lake Hemrin receives floodwaters annually over its storage capacity; therefore, there is a risk of flooding in the areas downstream of the lake. To this end, this research developed optimization solutions to design flood escape paths in the area using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Genetic Algorithm (GA). Among three initial …

Perceived Black Maternal Narcissism And Their Daughters’ Delinquency: Chronicles From A Daughter’S Interpretation, Nzinga Cates Mar 2026

Perceived Black Maternal Narcissism And Their Daughters’ Delinquency: Chronicles From A Daughter’S Interpretation, Nzinga Cates

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

This qualitative study examined the intricate dynamics between perceived Black narcissistic mothers and their daughters, particularly regarding potential delinquent behaviors exhibited by the daughters. By utilizing in-depth interviews with seven participants, I sought to uncover the psychological and relational factors contributing to these behaviors’ development. Thematic analysis indicated that daughters of narcissistic mothers often endure emotional neglect, manipulation, and lack of healthy role modeling. This can result in feelings of inadequacy and rebellion. Themes of identity confusion, low self-esteem, and desire for autonomy surfaced as significant contributors to the daughters’ engagement in delinquent activities. The study underscored the importance of …

Moderating Effects Of Leadership Style And Organizational Culture On Information Technology Involvement, Erick Dyson Mar 2026

Moderating Effects Of Leadership Style And Organizational Culture On Information Technology Involvement, Erick Dyson

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

This quantitative correlational study investigated the relationships among leadership styles, organizational culture, information technology involvement (INV), IT adoption intention (ITA), and knowledge-sharing intention (KSI) among managerial staff in educational institutions in the northeastern United States. Grounded in the technology acceptance model (TAM) and knowledge management theory, the study utilized survey responses from 141 participants in supervisory roles. Regression analyses revealed that INV significantly predicted ITA (F = 31.725, p < .001), accounting for 17.7% of the variance. However, ITA demonstrated a statistically significant but inverse relationship with KSI (F = 7.995, p < .001), indicating that greater ITA was associated with lower KSI. Hierarchical regression showed that the inclusion of leadership styles and organizational cultures improved model fit, with the final model explaining 53.3% of the variance in KSI. Charismatic, transformational, and transactional leadership styles moderated the ITA and KSI relationship, while servant and transactional leadership directly predicted KSI. Among cultural types, hierarchy and market cultures moderated the ITA and KSI relationship, while adhocracy, hierarchy, and market cultures directly predicted KSI. Seventeen significant two-factor interactions were identified, highlighting the complex interplay of leadership and culture. Reliability analyses confirmed acceptable internal consistency (α = .71 -.85), and regression diagnostics indicted no assumption violations. These findings challenge traditional TAM assumptions and emphasize the need for context-aware strategies integrating leadership and culture to enhance knowledge sharing in digitally transforming institutions.

Strategies For Bridging The Broadband Gap For An Inclusive Digital Economy, Hassana Asuku Mar 2026

Strategies For Bridging The Broadband Gap For An Inclusive Digital Economy, Hassana Asuku

Broadband access remains a critical driver of digital participation and economic inclusion; however, many rural communities continue to lack adequate connectivity and remain excluded from the digital economy. Although Information and Communication Technology (ICT) policymakers, regulators, and operators prioritize expanding broadband infrastructure, limited research exists on the strategies these stakeholders use to successfully bridge rural broadband gaps. Drawing on Jan van Dijk’s resources and appropriation theory, the purpose of this qualitative pragmatic inquiry was to explore the strategies employed by ICT policymakers, regulators, and operators to bridge the broadband gap in rural areas. Eight telecommunications industry players who had successfully …

Creating A Culture Of Mattering In Academic Nursing: Curated Strategies From Faculty Exemplars, Natalie B. May, Julie Haizlip, Katy Marie Hall, Karen Marcdante

Creating Healthy Work Environments (CHWE)

Health professions students have higher rates of anxiety, depression, and burnout than their peers.1-3 Prior research with undergraduates demonstrates that a sense of mattering is fundamental to student health and psychological well-being, and contributes to academic engagement and resilience.4,5 Nursing organizations, as well as the US Surgeon General, are recognizing the value of this concept in the workplace.6 While research indicates that simple interventions can improve students’ sense of mattering,7 there is no literature identifying how students in academic healthcare communities experience mattering.

Mattering, the perception that one is significant to others, is essential for human …

Business Faculty Publications

The rapid rise of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) poses new challenges for the validity and fairness of pre‐hire employment assessments. Across two applied studies using large applicant samples completing a standardized pre‐hire assessment (which includes both cognitive and non‐cognitive components), we examined the self‐reported incidence of GenAI assistance, and the impact of warning statements designed to deter such behavior. In Study 1 (N = 5675), conducted in Q3 2024, fewer than 3% of applicants reported using GenAI, though up to 19% reported using GenAI in combination with algorithmic resources (e.g., search engines). All three warning statements (consequences, educational, and reasoning) …

The Collaborative Development Of Core Vocabulary In International English-Medium Early Childhood Teacher Education, Muhammad Qureshi, Kay Gallagher, Michael Bowles, Jenny Eppard

All Works

This paper serves as a guide for the development of contextually relevant word lists and word guides for English-medium early childhood teacher education programs internationally. Such resources are particularly important for English-medium programs in higher education settings where English is typically a second or foreign language for students, and where limited vocabulary knowledge can curtail learning. In the context of an undergraduate early childhood teacher education program at an English-medium university in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a rapidly modernizing Gulf state with a new interest in early childhood education, language, and content teachers co-developed word lists for Arabic-speaking students …

Who Is God: Examining Explicit Beliefs About God, Scrupulosity, Suicidal Ideation, And Pscyhopathology, Katelynn L. Payne

Undergraduate Honors Theses

Religion has often been cited as a protective factor against psychopathology and suicidal ideation. However, this pattern does not always hold true. In this study, I sought to understand these exceptions by examining the relationship between explicit beliefs about God, scrupulosity, suicidal ideation, and psychological well-being among members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS). 105 adults were recruited and completed self-report measures related to the study variables. Negative explicit beliefs were positively correlated with scrupulosity, depression, anxiety, stress, and suicidal ideation. Scrupulosity was also positively correlated with depression, anxiety, stress, and suicidal ideation. Positive beliefs were …

Quantifying Location-Based Variability Of Regional Brain Metabolism Using Microsamples From Apoe Knock-In Mice, Jason G. Wells, Esteban G. Colman, John C. Price Mar 2026

Quantifying Location-Based Variability Of Regional Brain Metabolism Using Microsamples From Apoe Knock-In Mice, Jason G. Wells, Esteban G. Colman, John C. Price

Undergraduate Honors Theses

Apolipoprotein E (ApoE) is an important lipid transporter in the brain. There are three different ApoE variants: ApoE2, ApoE3, and ApoE4. Each of these variants either contribute to or protect against Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The Hippocampus (HC) and the Entorhinal Region (ER) of the brain consistently develop AD pathology first. We hypothesize that ApoE variants affect lipid and protein metabolism in these regions more strongly than in others. Differences in the regional regulation and the ApoE-isoform impacts of these metabolic pathways remain unknown.

We measured brain protein turnover rates in ApoE knock-in mice labeled with deuterated water. Using a laser …

Us‐China Trade War: Heterogeneous Effects On The Us Consumer, Michael Dedad, Sucharita Ghosh

University Research

This paper meticulously investigates how the US-China trade war of 2018–19 affected nondurable consumption patterns for households across the United States. Using highly granular NielsenIQ barcode scanner data, we find that a 1 percentage point (pp) increase in a county's tariff exposure growth was associated with a decrease in nondurable consumption growth ranging between 0.593 pp and 2.163 pp. Notably, this relationship existed for employed households but not for those without employment, and it was not confined to those working in manufacturing and farming. Additionally, households with children had lower consumption growth as tariff exposure increased, and the relationship was …

Perspectives On Food Sovereignty In Chicago, Camden Bruce Blowers

Capstone Projects – Politics and Government

The research question for this project focuses on food sovereignty. “How do individuals working with food in Chicago identify their role in promoting food sovereignty?” is a research question that expands with some nuance into the question of “who” individuals are in terms of political orientation. When asked to identify political ideology and economic ideology, the values can be greater quantified. Using mixed-methods, this paper critically assesses perspectives of individuals working with food in Chicago. The online survey enumerates the individual perspectives, food culture, and sociopolitical interactions of food sellers, producers, and advocates. Ten interviews further establish 1) the sociopolitical …

Lessons From The Making Of Modern Property: Reinventing Roman Law In Europe And Its Peripheries, 1789–1950, Laura S. Underkuffler

Texas A&M Journal of Property Law

This article examines the evolution and reinvention of Roman law concepts in shaping modern property law across Europe and its peripheries between 1789 and 1950. Focusing on Anna di Robilant’s analysis, it explores how nineteenth-century jurists utilized the ideal of dominium—property as an individual’s absolute entitlement—to respond to the social and economic upheavals of the era. While this model emphasized personal autonomy, freedom, and equality, it was inherently in tension with the demands of collective needs and societal change. The article discusses the practical and philosophical clashes between dominium and the social function of property, tracing the historical debates and …
