The underrepresentation of minority athletic trainers remains a critical issue, affecting both the profession and the quality of patient care. While patient demographics continue to diversify, the athletic training workforce has not kept pace, leading to potential communication barriers, mistrust, and inadequate culturally competent care. This review examines whether culturally tailored mentorship programs and targeted recruitment initiatives improve retention, career satisfaction, and diversity in athletic training compared to standard methods. By analyzing studies on underrepresented minority students in athletic training, the review highlights key institutional barriers and systemic factors impacting recruitment and retention. Findings suggest that tailored mentorship and supportive …

Ai As Scaffold To Re-Center Human Reasoning In Student Learning, Rachid Ait Maalem Lahcen Mar 2026

Ai As Scaffold To Re-Center Human Reasoning In Student Learning, Rachid Ait Maalem Lahcen

Teaching Online Pedagogical Repository

The increasing availability of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools has renewed concerns about the role of human reasoning in student learning. Although AI systems can efficiently generate explanations, uncritical reliance on automated outputs risks diminishing students’ engagement with interpretation and justification. This paper presents an instructional strategy that attempts to re-centers human reasoning by positioning AI as a scaffold rather than a substitute for thinking. The strategy emphasizes structured evaluation of AI-generated content through activities such as step-checking with reflection, error analysis, and dual-method verification. These activities are grounded in research‑based principles that have been shown to effectively support student …

Research outputs 2022 to 2026

This research focuses on decision-making by trustees of self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs) in Australia. Behavioral attributes are examined using the four-quadrant model (FQM) developed by Lovric et al. (2010), comprising the cognitive, affective, controlled, and automatic quadrants. The FQM integrates two closely related dual-process theories (DPT). Both the DPT framework and the FQM draw on foundational principles from the cognitive and behavioral sciences. The result of the mixed methods study uses the FQM to explain investment decision-making. The dataset was examined using cluster analysis to identify underlying group structures, followed by regression modelling to assess the relationships between key variables. …

An International Approach To Homelessness. Part Ii. Slums Demolition Or Upgrading?, Pranit Lanjewar, Jaroslaw Richard Romaniuk

Faculty Scholarship

In search of the best approach to eradicating homelessness in underdeveloped countries with large populations, we conducted interviews with professionals involved in different models of helping the unhoused. Although it has been established that the Housing First model combined with human services is the best model to end homelessness, the cost of housing might be prohibitive for many national governments. In situations where governments are over-whelmed by the numbers of homeless people, communities and organizations develop specific methods and practices to meet the needs of unhoused individuals. For the purpose of this paper, phenomenological research was undertaken to learn how …

The Secret Of Smerdyakov, Abigail M. Munzar Mar 2026

The Secret Of Smerdyakov, Abigail M. Munzar

Global Tides

This paper analyzes the mysterious character of Pavel Smerdyakov from Dostoevsky’s novel, The Brothers Karamazov, by examining his loveless upbringing, motives for murdering Fyodor Karamazov, and his final conversations with Ivan Karamazov, to argue that Smerdyakov committed suicide out of guilt from his crime. Smerdyakov may have had a potential conversion to Christianity which would have triggered an identity crisis in which he was tormented between accepting Christ’s love and hanging on to his lifelong hatred. Thus, he would have committed suicide out of remorse from his sin like the biblical Judas and an inability to choose between conversion or …

Historic Shrouds: A New Voice For Shakespearean Women, Ashleigh E. Weinstock Mar 2026

Historic Shrouds: A New Voice For Shakespearean Women, Ashleigh E. Weinstock

Global Tides

This article presents, and seeks to remedy, the argument that Shakespeare’s female characters are deprived of equal representation as complex humans through narrative gaps, action relegated to offstage scenes, and reduced opportunities for direct-to-audience speech, mirroring the social hierarchies of early modern gender, which continue to be reflected in modern society.

While this critique is not new, this essay argues that the criticism of these theatrical inequalities is insufficient to remedy their harms. Instead, this author proposes a performance-based, generative model of restorative justice termed the Historic Shroud, which seeks to give voice to sidelined female characters by placing …

The poem examines how internalized criticism can consume attention, confidence, and joy, portraying body image not simply as insecurity but as an exhausting mental conflict between identity, perception, and self-worth.

Discussing Discus: Exploring Coaching Interactions In A Throws Training Environment, Alexandra Baltazar Hall Mar 2026

Discussing Discus: Exploring Coaching Interactions In A Throws Training Environment, Alexandra Baltazar Hall

Student Research Symposium (SRS)

The literature on sport coaching has predominantly employed deductive and qualitative approaches to the study of pre-defined coach behaviours, and athlete self-reported perceptions of coaching communication. These methods overlook the inherently contextual and interactional nature of coaching, where the effective communication of sport-specific feedback and technical corrections are key to improving athletic ability. This study employs Discursive Psychology (DP) and Conversation Analysis (CA) to the inductive exploration of coaching interactions and practices in an indoor throws training environment, with a group of discus throwers. Audio-visual recordings of a training session were analysed using CA, and transcribed with Jefferson (2012) and …
