Analytical Design Of Continuous Prestressed Concrete Beams – Methodology, Example, And Comparison With A Simply Supported Beam, Xhemshir Mulliqi

This paper presents a complete analytical procedure for continuous prestressed concrete beams (two spans 15 + 15 m). The analysis covers moment distribution, loadbalancing method, prestress losses, thrust-line geometry, and shear verification in accordance with Eurocode 2. Continuity reduces positive bending moments in the spans to approximately wL²/24 while introducing negative moments over the internal support of about wL²/12 , compared to wL²/8 for a simply supported beam. An affine correction of the tendon profile allows fine adjustment of the thrust line without altering the equivalent load wₚ. A practical design example and comparison with numerical FEM results are provided.

This paper examines the need for developing an automated e-learning platform that supports adaptive learning for students in Kosovo. Using a mixed-methods approach—both quantitative and qualitative—the responses of 50 teachers were analyzed to understand their perceptions and the challenges associated with using platforms such as Google Classroom, Moodle, and Zoom. The findings indicate that, although there is significant potential to enhance teaching practices, key obstacles remain, including low student engagement and technological difficulties. The study suggests the development of a personalized platform powered by artificial intelligence to improve student participation and the overall effectiveness of distance learning.

Eczema and superficial mycoses are common, chronic dermatologic conditions that affect quality of life. Conventional therapies may cause side effects and resistance. This prospective observational study evaluated a topical emulsion containing Lawsonia inermis and Juglans regia in a community pharmacy with pharmacist-led interventions. Seventy-three adults applied the emulsion for up to 21 days. Significant improvements in erythema, scaling, and pruritus were observed, particularly in cases of chronic eczema. No adverse events occurred. Pharmacist counseling improved adherence and reduced corticosteroid use. The aim of this study was to assess the concentration of radon (²²²Rn) in 31 locations, including schools, public buildings, and private residences in the municipalities of Gjilan, Kamenica, and Viti, to compare the results with international standards and identify potential public health risks. This study examines the role of media in health education and disease prevention through a combined approach of literature review and empirical analysis. The survey was conducted through a structured questionnaire administered to a representative sample of 160 people. The data showed that 91.7% consider media an influential factor in shaping their health behaviors, while 85% reported making significant health-related decisions—such as visiting a doctor or changing dietary habits—based on information obtained from media sources. This study evaluates the effect of breed and nutritional factors on the physicochemical properties of fresh milk at the Vita dairy in Istog.Eighty milk samples were analyzed, collected from 20 farms with four cow breeds: Holstein, Simmental, Red Holstein, and Montbéliarde, during the months of May–June 2024. The samples were assessed for parameters such as: fat, protein, lactose, pH, acidity, specific gravity, dry matter, and freezing point.The results show that milk from the Holstein breed has a higher content of fat (4.02%), protein (3.30%), and lactose (4.70%) compared to Simmental. This study investigates the critical relationship between demographic dynamics and urban development in post-conflict Kosovo, analyzing how population characteristics shape formal settlement growth and spatial planning efficacy. Using a mixed-methods approach, we integrated quantitative data from the Kosovo Agency of Statistics (2011-2024) with qualitative insights from expert interviews (n=15) and spatial analysis through GIS. Precast concrete panels are widely used as compartmentation or cladding systems in buildings with fire safety requirements. Although the live loads acting on such panels under service conditions are generally negligible, in fire conditions failures often arise from the malfunction or collapse of their connection systems. When exposed to fire, panels undergo significant thermal deformation, including elongation and deflection, which may compromise structural integrity and lead to connection failure. This study investigates the deformative behaviour of monolithic solid precast panels under fire exposure through non-linear heat transfer and thermomechanical analyses.
