Jurnal Ilmu Ternak Universitas Padjadjaran

Beta-lactoglobulin genetics is one of the whey proteins in cow's milk that can influence improvements in milk composition, production, and component levels. Reproductive disorders and clinical mastitis in livestock are often related to genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors. Research on the relationship between beta-lactoglobulin and cow reproduction is still very limited. Therefore, the aim of this study is to determine the relationship between beta-lactoglobulin genotype and clinical mastitis as well as reproductive disorders (dystocia, retained placenta, and endometritis). This research utilizes secondary data obtained from the KPBS Pangalengan headquarters, consisting of genotype examination results of betalactoglobulin and medical records of …

Effect Of Carboxyl Methyl Cellulose (Cmc) Addition On Physicochemical Quality Of Salted Egg White Powder, Herly Evanuarini, Hemas Nidhal, Cintya Anisa

Jurnal Ilmu Ternak Universitas Padjadjaran

Duck eggs which are processed into salted eggs by the salting method have various advantages, but it cannot be stored for a long time. Efforts that can be made to increase shelf life, improve characteristics, and increase nutritional content include making salted egg whites in the form of powder. Egg powder can be made by drying using an oven, so a stabilizer is needed to reduce damage due to heating. Carboxyl Methyl Cellulose (CMC) is a stabilizer that can be used because it has good hydrophilic properties. The research objective was to improve the physicochemical quality and nutritional content of …

Adding Green And Black Teas In A Rice Straw-Based Sheep Diet Improves In Vitro Dry Matter Degradability Without Affecting Gas Production And Ph, Diky Ramdani, Abdul Chaudhry

Jurnal Ilmu Ternak Universitas Padjadjaran

Rice straw (RS) is widely available in South East Asia and it can be used as a source of fibres for ruminant animals. However, RS has poor palatability and nutritional values. Thus, the use of concentrate (CON) as a dietary supplement is required to increase the utilisation of RS. Green (GT) and black (BT) teas can act as natural dietary additives in a CON. This study evaluated nutrient compositions of the diet ingredients and the impact of supplementing GT and BT in a rice straw-based sheep diet on in vitro dry matter degradability (IVDMD), total gas production (TGP) and pH …

Jurnal Ilmu Ternak Universitas Padjadjaran

This research examined the effect of different densities on carcass weight, carcass parts, and carcass percentage. The material used in this research was 200 broiler chickens aged three weeks, reared for 14 days until they were 35 days old. The experimental design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and four replications. If the analysis of variance showed an effect of treatment (P<0,05), then Duncan's Multiple Range Test was carried out to determine the effect between treatments. The treatments used were P1 = density of 13 birds/m², P2 = density of 14 birds/m², P3 = density of 15 birds/m², P4 = density of 16 birds/m², and P5 = density of 17 birds/m². The study found that density had no significant effect (P>0,05) on the carcass weight, carcass parts, and carcass percentage. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that a density of 16 birds/m² for broiler chickens kept in closed houses still …

Heat Stress Response In Dairy Cattle, Olga Tessalonika, Nyimas Popi Indriani, Nyimas Popi Indriani, Mansyur Mansyur

Jurnal Ilmu Ternak Universitas Padjadjaran

Indonesia is a tropical country with high ambient temperatures and humidity. In Indonesia’s hot and humid summer, dairy cows cannot dissipate enough body heat to prevent a rise in their body temperature. Increasing air temperature, temperature humidity index, and rectal temperature above a critical threshold are associated with decreased dry matter intake (DMI), milk production, and milk production efficiency. Modifications including shades and cooling fans can help dissipate body heat, lower body temperature, and increase BMI. Genetic selection for heat tolerance is possible, but continued selection for better performance without consideration for heat tolerance will result in greater susceptibility to …

Indigofera Pellet Storage Time On Dry Matter Content, Organic Matter, Physical Properties And Palatability In Sheep, Ratu Aprilina, Iman Hernaman, U. Hidayat Tanuwiria

Jurnal Ilmu Ternak Universitas Padjadjaran

One of the protein sources of feed ingredients that contain high protein is I. zollingeriana. The abundant harvest of I. zollingeriana requires attention in the storage process. As forage, I. zollingeriana has bulky properties. This causes less efficiency in storage and transportation. Compaction of feed particles is one of the feed processing technologies to improve storage and transportation efficiency. The compaction process can be done by making pellets. The purpose of this study was to observe the interaction between the level of adhesive (cassava) and the shelf life of I. zollingeriana pellets on the content of dry matter, organic matter, …

Performance Of Four Strains Of Broiler Chicken Grandparent Stock Flock In Indonesia, Rofii Rofii, Maria Ulfah, Sri Darwati, Muladno Muladno

Jurnal Ilmu Ternak Universitas Padjadjaran

This study aims to compare the performance of broiler GPS flocks from 4 GPS strains in Indonesia (Cobb, Ross, Indian River, Hubbard). This research was conducted from November 2022 to March 2023. Data were collected from some breeding companies' audit results conducted by the Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health. The results showed that the broiler GPS flock performance in the young age group showed a significance value of <0.05, and there was a significant difference in the HDP variable indicator. The average HDP weight for the Ross, Cobb, Indian River, and Hubbard GPS strains was 78.05±3.28, 74.00±3.30, 78.99±3.37 and 75.85±3.61, respectively. The average egg and hatchling weight was also significantly different among each strain, but only on the variable factor of the breeding company. There were no significant differences among the strain factor variables and primary product variables, such as the average number of DOC PS per hen by breeding company and strain. On average, a female GPS line in the young age group period for the Ross, Cobb, Indian River, and Hubbard strains produced 15.14 ± 2.2, 14.92 ± 4.6, 15.35 ±1.47, and 13.78 DOC, respectively. There is no mutual interaction between the performance of HDP flocks, egg weight, and hatching weight of DOC PS from variable factors of the breeding companies with each strain. Factorial interactions only occur in the primary product variable, meaning each broiler GPS strain reared by each breeder company in Indonesia has different performances.

Rabbit meat production continues to increase every year. An increase rabbit meat production causes bone production to increase as well. Rabbit bones can be used further to add value. The protein content in the bones is collagen. Collagen can be hydrolyzed to produce gelatin. The gelatin demand is high enough so the rabbit bones can be utilized as gelatin raw material. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of hydrochloric acid concentration on the rabbit bone gelatin and to determine the concentration of hydrochloric acid which produced the best gelatin quality. The design of the research was …
