Promoting Wellness Early: Shifting The Culture To Embrace Self-Care In Nursing, Deborah Ambrosio-Mawhirter, Marilyn Klainberg Feb 2026

Promoting Wellness Early: Shifting The Culture To Embrace Self-Care In Nursing, Deborah Ambrosio-Mawhirter, Marilyn Klainberg

Creating Healthy Work Environments (CHWE)

Aim: Promoting an environment to embrace wellness and self-care. Does early education promote participation in self-care behaviors?

Background: According to the American Nurses Association (ANA), self-care is an ethical responsibility of all nurses. Provision 5 states: “The nurse owes the same duties to self as to others, including the responsibility to promote health” (ANA 2015). It is apparent in the literature that although nurses are advocates for their patient’s health promotion, it does not necessarily translate into their own self-care behaviors. Nurses must promote a culture of self-care to reduces stress, burn out, and improve patient safety and the quality …

Parameter Estimation Of Eccentric Binary Black Holes Using Targeted Numerical Relativity Simulations, Patricia Mcmillin Feb 2026

Parameter Estimation Of Eccentric Binary Black Holes Using Targeted Numerical Relativity Simulations, Patricia Mcmillin

Theses

Gravitational wave events detected by the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA (LVK) collaboration are the result of compact binary mergers which produce gravitational wave (GW) emission. The observed waveform carries information about the source properties, such as masses, spins, and orbital eccentricity. Events harboring eccentricity upon entrance of the LVK sensitivity band at 10 Hz are believed to have been formed through dynamical channels, where the binary has interacted with other astrophysical objects leading to a merger faster than an isolated binary. Therefore, the identification of eccentric gravitational wave events and accurate determination of their parameters is vital to understanding the population of binary …

Chaos; Deterministic chaos; Earth–Moon system; Poincaré map; Quasi-chaotic; Surface of section /// For the Circular Restricted 3-Body Problem (CR3BP), the topologies present within a Poincaré map enable the extraction of useful information regarding periodic, quasi-periodic, and chaotic trajectory behavior. Aside from the prominent topologies that follow distinct concentric patterns around fixed points, indicative of the periodic and quasi-periodic motion that is often the central focus of CR3BP research, there are also many “dusty” regions on the Poincaré map that appear random without an apparent structure and are indicative of chaotic motion. This paper, for the first time in literature, identifies …

Vision-Based Wafer Inspection In Semiconductor Manufacturing: A Case Study On Scratch Defect Detection Using Synthetic Data And Yolo Models, Ramón Jesús Sánchez Peñaloza, Armin Moghadam, Fatemeh Davoudi Kakhki

Faculty Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity

Scratch-type surface defects are among the most critical in wafer fabrication. Even minor scratches can result in rejected dies, substantial yield loss, and downstream reliability failures, making their early and precise detection essential for cost-effective production and long-term device performance. Given the scale and speed of modern semiconductor manufacturing, manual or traditional inspection methods are insufficient to reliably detect such subtle surface defects, underscoring the urgent need for intelligent, automated inspection systems capable of real-time, high-precision detection. However, developing such systems remains challenged by limited access to diverse, labeled defect datasets and the high cost of manual annotation. To overcome …

Systemic inflammation ("inflammaging") accelerates biological aging and drives cardiovascular, metabolic, and neurodegenerative disease. Circadian rhythms regulate the amplitude and timing of immune responses, yet their mechanistic role in inflammation and longevity remains unexplored. In 62,000 adults with 7-day wearable accelerometry, interpretable machine learning model identified rhythm amplitude, stability, and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) as dominant predictors of accelerated aging. In a subset of 1521 participants (35% male) with available data on the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), we further examined the associations between behavioral rhythmicity and inflammation. Low amplitude and poor rhythm stability were associated with 0.31 and 0.18 SD higher …

Balancing Education And Health Among Rural Schoolchildren During Prolonged Heat Wave In The Philippines, Elias Olapane Feb 2026

Balancing Education And Health Among Rural Schoolchildren During Prolonged Heat Wave In The Philippines, Elias Olapane

Kesmas

Intensifying heat waves disrupt learning environments in the Philippines, particularly in rural areas where schools often lack adaptive infrastructure. Many rural classrooms are built with heat-retaining materials, such as concrete, which trap excessive heat, leading to indoor temperatures exceeding safe comfort levels. These conditions lead to dehydration, fatigue, and reduced cognitive function, directly impairing students’ focus and academic performance. Schoolchildren are particularly vulnerable due to their developing thermoregulatory systems, higher metabolic demands, and potential preexisting health conditions. These risks are further amplified in rural communities with limited access to cooling, healthcare, and adaptive resources. These challenges require practical, context-specific interventions. …

Sensi-Train: Context-Aware Sensitive Content Detection Using Transformers And Large Language Models, Nazeefa Muzammil Feb 2026

Sensi-Train: Context-Aware Sensitive Content Detection Using Transformers And Large Language Models, Nazeefa Muzammil

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

The detection of sensitive content has become a critical task in natural language processing due to the widespread use of online platforms and the social harm caused by it. Even though current methods have advanced significantly, many of them mainly rely on surface-level text and neglect to take into consideration contextual and cultural elements that are crucial for correctly assessing sensitivity of any content to a particular individual. Due to this, implicit offense, sarcasm, and culturally grounded expressions frequently cause problems for such systems. To enable culturally grounded sensitive content detection, this thesis presents Sensi-Train, a context-rich dataset and modeling …
