Reimagining The American Dream Of Aging: Filmic Portrayals And Implications For Transformative Advertising Research, Katherine C. Sredl, Julie Whiteman, Finola Kerrigan, Cagri Yalkin
School of Business: Faculty Publications and Other Works
Transformative advertising research uses institutional theory to position advertising as a site for transformative well-being, highlighting the role of ideology in shaping industry practice and output. Our study into discourses of successful aging in three films addressing the lives of older women demonstrates how film uses cinematography, dialogue, and mise-en-scène to discursively create film templates of successful aging. Templates provide cultural ideological frameworks for film audiences in their materialized representations of subject positions, thereby creating consent for the conditions and consumption that symbolize those positions. Although film can offer advertising and its audiences potentially transformative ideological templates of aging and …

Frailty, a syndrome that decreases healthspan in older individuals, lacks effective therapies. We conducted a randomized, dose-finding clinical trial to test whether human bone marrow-derived allogeneic mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs; laromestrocel) improve physical functioning and patient self-reported outcomes in ambulatory individuals with frailty (ClinicalTrials.gov #NCT03169231; N = 148). Laromestrocel infusion results in clinically meaningful, dose- and time-dependent increases in the 6-min walk test (6MWT; primary endpoint) compared with placebo: 63.4 m (95% confidence interval [CI]: 17.1-109.6 m; p = 0.0077) at month 9 and 41.3 m (95% CI: -2.4-84.9 m; p = 0.0635) at month 6. Increased 6MWT distance correlates …
Generation Of Inner Core Anisotropy By Anisotropic Thermal Conductivity Of Iron Crystals, Prajna Paramita Das, Bruce Buffett, Daniel A. Frost
Generation Of Inner Core Anisotropy By Anisotropic Thermal Conductivity Of Iron Crystals, Prajna Paramita Das, Bruce Buffett, Daniel A. Frost
Faculty Publications
Seismic anisotropy in the Earth’s inner core refers to the observation that seismic waves travel faster along the Earth’s rotation axis than in the equatorial plane, a feature inferred from decades of global seismological observations. This directional dependence of wave speeds provides important clues about the structure, composition and dynamics of the inner core. Here we explore a coupled thermo-mechanical mechanism for the generation of inner core anisotropy, focusing on the effects of anisotropic thermal conductivity in iron crystals as the inner core cools. We propose that the higher thermal conductivity of iron along the crystallographic c-axis compared with …

The Effectiveness Of Mode Deactivation Model Group Counseling In Improving The Emotional Wellness Of Junior High School Students, Ananda Dwi Rahmadanti, Muya Barida, Sri Hartini, Aprilia Setyowati
Buletin Konseling Inovatif
This study was motivated by the low level of emotional wellness among some junior high school students, characterized by difficulties in recognizing, understanding, and managing emotions adaptively, thereby impacting social behavior and learning processes at school. Previous studies have shown that emotion regulation-based interventions are effective in improving adolescents' emotional well-being. However, counseling interventions in schools that specifically target emotional regulation patterns to improve students' emotional wellness are still relatively limited in guidance and counseling services. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effectiveness of group counseling using the Mode Deactivation Counseling (MDC) model in improving the emotional wellness of …

When The Muses Went Silent And Almost Died:, Thomas M. Hines
Journal of the Jussi Björling Societies of the USA & UK
What would life be like if there were no fine or performing arts? If music could not be heard in public, if great paintings of famous artists of the past and present could not be seen—in other words, how would we adjust in an esthetically deprived existence? In truth, we could continue to see and hear; nature would still be around us, but the interpretative acuity of our senses would be dulled. Opportunities to witness works of art would not be readily available. Our creative images would be internalized and not reflective of visual or auditory models. It would be …

compared with a Dutch cohort and to study the anthropological aspects of dentofacial deformities. The Indonesian
cohort included 36 male and 50 female patients from Bandung. The Dutch cohort included 1,003 male and 1,623
female patients from Amsterdam. The majority of the Indonesian cohort was less than 30 years old (93%)compared
with 61.5% of the Dutch cohort. The age distribution of 31-40 years consisted of more Dutch than Indonesian patients
(p<0.01). Mandibular prognathism with an open bite was the most prevalent deformity (46.5%) among the Indonesian
cohort with a mean age of 22.78 (SD;6.34). Mandibular deficiency was …0.01).>

Pemutihan Kembali Gigi Yang Berubah Warna Pada Anak Dental Bleaching On Children With Discolored Teeth, Roedy Budirahardjo
Dentofasial
Dental bleaching is a process making teeth look whiter. Bleaching may be performed in two methods; by using
bleaching products or non-bleaching products. Bleaching products contain peroxide assisting to remove intrinsic
and extrinsic stain, resulting in the changing of original color of teeth. Non-bleaching products contain materials
that may work to remove extrinsic stain only, through both physical and chemical actions. The use of bleaching
products is not always safe, therefore, they should be assumed that their benefits are over their recognized
biological risk. The choice of bleaching method for children depends on type and depth of the stain, and …

Cracked Tooth Syndrome, Maria Tanumihardja
Dentofasial
Cracked tooth syndrome is usually found in daily dental practice. The incidence of
cracks teeth tends to increasing. People are living longer and keeping their teeth
longer. As a consequence, people have more complex restoration and endodontic
treatment, leaving teeth more prone to cracks. In addition, stressful lives may provoke
unconscious habits such as clenching and bruxism which can induce cracks in teeth.
However, many cracks teeth can be saved nowadays when the characteristic signs
and symptoms of cracked tooth syndrome can be diagnosed earlier in its
development

The idea is perpetual. It meanders through most of our noggins, yet remains welcome in its brain-draining manner. The Anna-Lisa Björling/ Andrew Farkas biography, Jussi, keeps reminding us of the likes of Il tabarro with Leontyne Price and George London (Amadeus Press, 1996, page 335). Elsewhere it is suggested that the RCA/Serafin Otello with Jon Vickers, Leonie Rysanek and Tito Gobbi was RCA’s means of salvaging what was to have been Jussi’s Otello recording. The facts and tales are out there. We salivate every time we read or re-read them. Since many others have had a hand in that creative …

Speleothems from caves in near-permafrost regions can provide unique insights into the climatic history of temperature-sensitive environments. These regions are often remote and only seasonally accessible, which makes cave monitoring – a requirement for speleothem-based proxy interpretation – challenging. We document ventilation, the infiltration regime, and the isotopic composition of dripwater in Botovskaya Cave in southern Siberia, a host to speleothems previously used to reconstruct Quaternary permafrost dynamics in continental Eurasia. We explore surface and cave temperature records, cave air CO2 concentration data and stable isotopes in precipitation and dripwater and evaluate infiltration conditions and the sensitivity of speleothems …

Numeracy
Several ancient languages use linguistic structures to differentiate between singular, dual, and plural forms that are used when one, two, or many objects are referenced. (Some languages go further, adding a trial form to differentiate two from three.) In many modern languages, numerals are used to convey precise number. After reviewing a range of ways languages express number (including the interesting case of Pirahã which does not express precise number), the paper concludes with a proposed developmental path for the expression of quantity in languages.
