Digital Transformation And Esg Performance In China: The Mediating Role Of Green Innovation, Zhou Yanyu
Digital Transformation And Esg Performance In China: The Mediating Role Of Green Innovation, Zhou Yanyu
Student Works (2020-2029)
This study explores the relationship between digital transformation and ESG performance in Chinese A-share listed companies, focusing on the mediating role of green innovation. From the view of resource-based theory, the digital transformation is found to the first enhances ESG performance and how green innovation serves as a key transmission mechanism. Using fixed-effects regression analysis based on 6,763 firm-year observations from 2015 to 2023. The empirical results indicate that digital transformation improves ESG performance by fostering green innovation, which in turn partially mediates this effect. These findings provide theoretical insights on how digital capabilities drive corporate sustainability and offer practical …
Extension Of The Local Vibrational Mode Theory To Periodic Systems, Filippo Bodo
Extension Of The Local Vibrational Mode Theory To Periodic Systems, Filippo Bodo
Chemistry Theses and Dissertations
Over the years, vibrational spectroscopy was used to gain a deeper understanding of the electronic structure and the chemical bond in both molecular and periodic systems. In this framework, the Local Vibrational Mode Theory (LVMT), as first introduced by Konkoli and Cremer in 1998, provides a unique tool to quantify the strength of a chemical bond, and better interpret the molecular vibrational spectra, thanks to the adiabatic force constants ($k^a$) and the composition of normal modes (CNM). While LVMT was originally developed for molecular systems, its application to periodic solids has remained limited. This thesis presents a complete and systematic …

New Avenues For |Δb=2| Processes Beyond Neutron-Antineutron Oscillations, Arnau Basi Beneito, Svjetlana Fajfer, Alexey A. Petrov

We explore baryon-number-violating (|∆B| = 2) processes beyond the well-known neutron-antineutron (n-n̄) oscillations, focusing on the Λ-Λ̄ system. The presence of a strange quark in the Λ baryon introduces a new set of six-quark operators roughly of the form (uds)2, which are different from the (udd)2 operators responsible for n-n̄ oscillations. Using the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT), we classify all dimension-9 operators that cause |∆B| = 2 transitions and study their UV completions mediated by exotic scalar fields with trilinear interactions. We demonstrate that …

Background: An emerging feature in modern biomedical research is collecting and analyzing numerous variables. In the presence of many potential covariates, inference becomes challenging requiring both distinguishing a set of covariates truly associated with an outcome and estimating their corresponding regression coefficients consistently. Traditional statistical inference typically focuses on estimating coefficients assuming a pre-specified set of covariates. Further, advanced machine/statistical learning methods performing both selection and estimation predominantly focus on outcome prediction rather than association inference.
Methods: Motivated by our epidemiological research on long-term childhood cancer survivors, where we aimed to investigate associations between a large pool of longitudinal symptom …
Reared In Disaster: The Long-Run Harm From Childhood Storm Exposure, Lucas Kaplan
Reared In Disaster: The Long-Run Harm From Childhood Storm Exposure, Lucas Kaplan
Center for Policy Research
I estimate how exposure to natural disasters in childhood shapes earnings and schooling later in life, using newly assembled county-date disaster records dating back to 1951 linked to residential histories in the NLSY79. I compare adult outcomes for children who are born in the same county but due to disaster timing experience different amounts of exposure, finding that severe and repeat disasters reduce earnings. I show that school-age disaster exposure drives long-run harm: exposure between ages 5 and 10 reduces educational attainment, while exposure between ages 10 and 15 reduces adult earnings. Finally, Black individuals suffer larger earnings losses than …

Introduction
It is unclear why people of Mexican ancestry who smoke report relatively high rates of discussing quitting-related topics, which predicts cessation attempts. Methods
Using Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA), adults from Mexico (n=40) and with Mexican heritage living in the US (n=52) who smoked daily were sent texts/emails each morning with cessation tips and cessation benefits over 15 days. At baseline, participants reported their personal network characteristics across up to eight different alters. Each evening of the 15 days, participants reported forgoing any cigarettes they normally would smoke (yes/no) and having had any quitting-related conversations (yes/no). Multilevel logistic models were …Etv2 Mediated Differentiation Of Human Pluripotent Stem Cells Results In Functional Endothelial Cells For Engineering Advanced Vascularized Microphysiological Models, Shun Zhang, Zhengpeng Wan, Lei Wang, Caihong Wu, Junkai Zhang, Sarah Spitz, Xun Wang, Marie A. Patient-specific microphysiological models have become a valuable tool for broad applications, revolutionizing biomedical research. However, limitations persist, with functional vasculature being a significant challenge. With the discovery of ETV2's determinant role in specifying EC lineages during differentiation, researchers have adopted techniques involving ETV2 overexpression to produce h-iECs more efficiently and consistently. Here, we generated multiple h-iPSC lines with inducible ETV2 expression, and subsequently differentiated them into h-iECs, which were validated functionally and by key endothelial markers and RNA-seq analysis. These cells are capable of reproducibly self-organizing into stable microvascular networks (MVNs) in a microfluidic chip, forming lumenized and functional vessels …

2020-Current year OA Pubs
BACKGROUND: This review assessed the cost-effectiveness and implementation strategies of hypertension management by non-physician healthcare workers (NPHCWs) in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
METHODS: A systematic search (inception-May 2024) included adults ≥18 years managed by NPHCWs LMICs, following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Economic evaluations were assessed using Drummond's checklist and ROBINS-I.
RESULTS: Seven studies (2002-2022) conducted across eight countries enrolled 96-10,000 participants and included randomized, modeling, observational, and quasi-experimental designs. NPHCWs included pharmacists, community and village health workers, and nurses. Patients' mean age ranged 58-71 years, with 57-82% female. Outcomes assessed included cost per …
