The Social Validity Of The Zones Of Regulation, Tracy Grass
The Social Validity Of The Zones Of Regulation, Tracy Grass
Dissertations
The purpose of this research was to examine teachers’ perceptions of the social validity of the Zones of Regulation, specifically in terms of the constructs of acceptability, feasibility, and perceived effectiveness, in elementary school classrooms. Despite the popularity of this social-emotional learning (SEL) program, limited research has explored its social validity. To address this gap, a mixed-methods research design was used to gain a comprehensive understanding of teacher perceptions and experiences.
A total of 43 elementary teachers completed the Usage Rating Profile—Intervention Revised (URP-IR), and seven teachers participated in semi-structured interviews. Abductive thematic analysis was used to integrate data and …

Method For Testing And Evaluating Intelligence Level Of Virtual Forces Based On Operational Experiments, Dayong Liu, Zhiming Dong, Weidong Zhang, Wenjun Zhang, Jiancheng Gao
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: The intelligence level of virtual forces is a key factor affecting the credibility and effectiveness of tactical confrontation simulations. To address the current lack of a testing and evaluation system, a method for testing and evaluating the intelligence level of virtual forces based on operational experiments is proposed. Guided by operational experiment theory, the method stimulates the intelligent behavior of virtual forces by constructing dynamic confrontation environments, and collects, calculates, analyzes, and evaluates their intelligence performance data according to a systematic process. The overall architecture, logical functional modules, and basic evaluation process of the method are designed. A "4M" …
Trademark’S Parody Problem, Christine Haight Farley
Trademark’S Parody Problem, Christine Haight Farley
Research Reports & White Papers
This Article challenges the Supreme Court's recent assurance that trademark parody is adequately protected under ordinary infringement doctrine without the need for special speech safeguards. In Jack Daniel's Properties, Inc. v. VIP Products LLC, the Court curtailed the principal First Amendment defense for expressive trademark uses while predicting that parodies would nonetheless prevail under the likelihood of confusion test. This Article shows why that prediction is mistaken. Drawing on recent case law and trademark doctrine, it identifies four structural vulnerabilities that now confront parody: the expansion of "trademark use" as a gatekeeping device that excludes parodists from speech-protective …

Pharmacy Faculty Articles and Research
Purpose
Postsurgical adhesion remains a significant clinical challenge. Seprafilm® is widely used as a barrier to reduce adhesion formation, however its efficacy may be inconsistent. Recombinant human proteoglycan-4 (rhPRG4), a surface-active, anti-inflammatory glycoprotein found in synovial fluid inhibits cell and protein adhesion. This study investigated whether coating Seprafilm with rhPRG4 could enhance its anti-adhesive potential.
Methods
Macrophages (J774), human fibroblast-like synoviocytes (HFLS), and melanoma (A375) cells were cultured on tissue culture wells treated with rhPRG4 or bovine submaxillary mucin (BSM) to determine optimal seeding density. Seprafilm sheets were coated with rhPRG4 or BSM (0.78–200 µg/mL). Cell adhesion was quantified …

Math In Melody: How Music Strikes A Chord With Memory And Learning, Aidan V. Waters
Honors Theses
As a result of personal curiosity, this thesis seeks to understand the current status of music integration within educational settings, discussing its importance and potential impact. By considering existing literature, it analyzes music’s effectiveness in K-12 education, particularly within the mathematics classroom. Based on the current body of research, the study identifies three key features of music integration: its effectiveness as an energizer, a memory tool, and a means of creating structure within the classroom. Building on these findings, a proposed ten-day, music-integrated Algebra I unit on functions is presented, applying the research in a variety of ways. The unit …
Development Of Cao-Based Heterogeneous Catalysts For The Production Of Palm Oil-Based N-Methyl Diethanolamine Esterquats, Haliza Abdul Aziz
Development Of Cao-Based Heterogeneous Catalysts For The Production Of Palm Oil-Based N-Methyl Diethanolamine Esterquats, Haliza Abdul Aziz
Student Works (2020-2029)
Esterquats are cationic surfactants that are readily biodegradable and exhibit low aquatic toxicity. To produce esterquats via heterogeneous-catalyzed transesterification of methyl ester has become a preferred route to the conventional homogeneous catalysis as the approach can reduce the production cost through catalyst reuse and minimized water footprint through wastewater treatment. Many transesterification reactions catalyzed by pure calcium oxide (CaO) are attributed to its high basicity and it can be derived from a cheap, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly precursor. To enhance the performance and stability of CaO, a series of CaO-based catalysts were synthesized via a wet impregnation method. The catalytic …
Evaluating The Nuclear Structure Of Some Calcium Mirror Nuclei, Sukaina Falah Hassan, Ban Sabah Hameed
Evaluating The Nuclear Structure Of Some Calcium Mirror Nuclei, Sukaina Falah Hassan, Ban Sabah Hameed
Baghdad Science Journal
In this study, we calculated the binding energy of nuclei, which holds atomic nuclei together, by utilizing electron scattering transformations in the shell model to explore the nuclear structure for proton-rich pairs of mirror nuclei: 34Ca-34Si, 0Ca-35P, 36Ca-36S, and 37Ca-37Cl. The proton envelope that surrounds the proton-rich nucleus explains why the nucleus charge and its mirror image have different radii. The wave functions for single particles were adopted from the Skyrme-Hartree-Fock approximation and Wood-Saxon potential to compute the mirror radii, mirror charge radii, and skin thickness for protons …

Study The Effect Of Isospin Dependence And Short-Range Correlations By Using Contact Formalism Through Inclusive Nuclear Structure For 20Ne And 24Mg Nuclei, Farah Faris Kaddoori, Ghaith N. Flaiyh
Baghdad Science Journal
Pair densities and their related correlation functions play a crucial role in capturing the complex many-body interactions within nuclear systems. This study focuses on how spin and isospin specifically influence nuclear charge density distributions. Using the folding model, the charge density is derived through an effective two-body density approach that incorporates both short-range correlations (SRC’s) and tensor correlations (TC’s), while also accounting for spin- and isospin-dependent forces. Calculations were carried out for the elastic electron scattering form factors, F(q), and the root-mean-square (RMS) charge radii, ⟨r²⟩¹ᐟ², of the ²⁰Ne and ²⁴Mg nuclei. The study also examined inelastic longitudinal electron …

Vascular Responses To Hand Posture Are Preserved Despite Acute Endothelial Dysfunction: Insights From Pulse Wave Velocity And Finger-To-Finger Timing, Zain Al-Abideen Falah Ali, Fezaa Shalal Neda, Bassam Talib Al-Gailani
Baghdad Science Journal
Limb posture alters hydrostatic pressure and vascular tone through mechanical and reflex pathways, but the contribution of endothelial function remains uncertain. To determine whether vascular responses to hand elevation and dependency persist during transient endothelial dysfunction induced by ischemia–reperfusion injury (IRI), eighteen healthy adults (9 males, 9 females) underwent ECG-gated pulse recordings at three hand positions: heart level (H-0°), 90° below (H-90°), and 50° above (H+50°), before and after IRI. Primary outcomes were pulse wave velocity (PWV) and finger-to-finger pulse arrival-time difference (f–f ΔT); secondary outcomes were wrist mean blood pressure (MBP), heart rate (HR), and ΔPWV/ΔBP slope. The result …

Infinitely Many Hidden Attractors In A Simple Six-Term Chaotic 2-Torus Snap System With A Line Of Equilibria, Sarbast Hussein Mikaeel, Irfan Ahmad, Rizgar H. Salih
Baghdad Science Journal
Chaotic systems with simple structures and controllable dynamics are highly desirable for practical applications, including secure communications, signal processing, and nonlinear control. However, most existing systems are too complex or lack flexibility in controlling signal amplitude and polarity. In this study, a simple chaotic snap system is considered that has a line of equilibria and is composed of six algebraic terms, with a single quadratic nonlinearity. In some regions of parameter space, a chaotic attractor coexists with a line equilibrium or with a limit cycle of period-2. The basin boundary of a limit cycle and chaotic attractor is smooth. Additionally, …
