Freeze Signaling To Locate Defective Pixels In Display Panels, Anonymous Jan 2024

Freeze Signaling To Locate Defective Pixels In Display Panels, Anonymous

Defensive Publications Series

A decoder based addressing mechanism is utilized to uniquely identify a particular set of pixels and to deactivate (freeze) the set of pixels during failure analysis. Based on an input of an address, e.g., a binary address, a particular row and/or column of pixels on the display panel can be stopped from emitting (frozen). The output from the decoder is utilized to modify input(s) received from the pixel drivers. Electrical signals from the pixel drivers are intercepted and combined with signals from the local row/column decoder and then transmitted to the display panel. If a defective pixel is located by …

Enhancing Customer Happiness Through Corporate Social Responsibility: Unveiling The Impact Of Csr On Customer Well-Being, Cheonglim Lee, Yongju Kwon, Youjae Yi

Asia Marketing Journal

Previous literature supports the importance of corporate social responsibility (CSR) by demonstrating its effects on various aspects of firm performance. However, the extent to which CSR contributes to social well-being, its original objective, has rarely been examined. The current research investigates the impact of customers’ perceived CSR of service firms on customer happiness. Two studies confirm our proposition that perceived CSR increases customer happiness by enhancing perceptions of warmth and competence associated with the service company. Furthermore, we examine how the type of service moderates this effect. Specifically, we find that the indirect effects of CSR on customer happiness through …

While visual literacy has been identified as a foundational skill in life science education, there are many challenges in teaching and assessing biomolecular visualization skills. Among these are the lack of consensus about what constitutes competence and limited understanding of student and instructor perceptions of visual literacy tasks. In this study, we administered a set of biomolecular visualization assessments, developed as part of the BioMolViz project, to both students and instructors at multiple institutions and compared their perceptions of task difficulty. We then analyzed our findings using a mixed-methods approach. Quantitative analysis was used to answer the following research questions: …

Beyond Collaborative Learning: A Comparison Of Small Groups In Face-To-Face And Online Settings, Xiaomei Song

Faculty Scholarship

Small group-based instructional approaches such as case-based learning (CBL) and team-based learning (TBL) are widely used in medical education to promote collaboration and team learning. During the pandemic, many medical schools shifted from face-to-face instruction to online settings. While CBL/TBL are intended to foster collaborative skills, it is unclear how its use evolves in an online setting and whether the online setting impacts students’ perceptions and behaviors in collaboration. This study examined how the change from in-person to online CBL/TBL impacted students’ collaboration. We used a mixed-methods sequential design, first collecting and analyzing retrospective cohort quantitative data with the Class …

When Policies Problematize The Local: Social-Environmental Justice And Forest Policies In Burkina Faso And Vietnam, Grace Yee Wong, Mawa Karambiri, Pham Thu Thuy, Alizée Ville, Tuan Long Hoang, Chi Dao Thi Linh, Andrea Downing, Amanda Jiménez-Aceituno, Maria Brockhaus

Forest and Society

We examine social-environmental justice in forest governance by asking who is problematized as drivers of deforestation and forest degradation. We adapt Bacchi’s “What is the problem represented to be” approach to the community forest (CAF) model in Burkina Faso and the Payment for Forest Environmental Services (PFES) in Vietnam and examine the implementation of these policies in specific sites through disaggregated focus group discussions (men, women, youth, ethnic minorities). We delve into the discursive, lived and subjectification effects of the policies’ problematizations, highlighting tensions and contestations relating to forest access and benefits. For both countries, what is left unproblematized in …

Changing Livelihoods, Development, And Cultural Practices: Reshaping Forests Among The Tau Taa Vana People, Muhammad Alie Humaedi, Ibnu Nadzir, Setiawan Khoirul Himmi, Sri Astutik, Adhis Tessa, Rosita Novi Andari

Forest and Society

The Tau Taa Vana people live in the Bulang Highlands, Tojo Una-Una, in Central Sulawesi Province. The region's development has shaped the marginalization of forest-dwelling and forest-adjacent communities. From the 1980s to the 1990s, illegal logging networks served as the power holders, backed by Indonesia’s authoritarian regime of that time. Illegal logging destroyed a large part of the Tau Taa Vana's sacred forest (pengale kapali). As part of the massive logging agenda, the government launched many legal programs that further isolated the Tau Taa Vana people from their land. The first program was transmigration in 1995-1998, which converted sacred …

A comprehensive study of the potential of agroforestry systems in charland areas was conducted using qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Two methods were employed: structured questionnaire interviews and botanical surveys. Findings revealed that considerable variation exists in both charland and mainland areas in terms of socio-demographic characteristics. Both tree and agroforestry knowledge …

Mindful Leadership And Climate Action, Matthew Law Jan 2024

Mindful Leadership And Climate Action, Matthew Law

Mindfulness Studies Theses

Organizations must get serious about reaching the goals for addressing Climate Action outlined in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)13. The problem to solve is how the leaders who created the climate issues can be the leaders to make climate action happen. The development of mindful leaders within an organization is the answer to the problem. Mindful leaders are developed not only with the Inner Development Goal (IDG) framework which is developed to align and support the 17 SDGs of the United Nations. The development of mindful leaders comes from ancient and modern practices that draw from Buddhism, secular …

Family Caregiving And Serious Mental Illness: Navigating Complex Relationships, Lynn Sellon Jan 2024

Family Caregiving And Serious Mental Illness: Navigating Complex Relationships, Lynn Sellon

Counseling and Psychology Dissertations

Treatment of serious mental illness (SMI) has shifted over the last 60 years from an institutional model to a community-based approach (Chan, 2011; Di Lorenzo et al., 2021; Jain & Singh, 2014). Families have become an integral part of the caregiving network, bringing into focus the relationships between caregivers and individuals with SMI. Although literature has emphasized the key role family members play in supporting individuals diagnosed with SMI, there is a dearth of in-depth qualitative research on how primary caregivers traverse these relationships (Biegel et al., 2013; Chang & Chen, 2021; Young et al., 2019). This research addressed that …

Conscious Selection: Critical Consciousness Informs Cultivation Of Social Networks In A Living And Learning Community, Olga Kornienko, Esther Burson, Dasean L. Young, Erin Godfrey, Pamela Garner

Psychology: Faculty Publications

Increased popular discourse about societal inequities highlights the importance of critical consciousness (CC) as a developmental competency for youth. Peer dialogue has been implicit to theories of CC, but we know little about how critical reflection, action, and sociopolitical efficacy inform interpersonal mechanisms through which social networks are selected in developmentally salient contexts. We used social network analysis methods to explore the role of CC components in how late adolescents cultivated their peer affiliation and friendship networks within a specific context of a college living and learning community. Participants (n = 37; 67.6% female; Mage = 18.18 years, 56.81% White) …
