A polycrystalline nanostructured thin film of zinc cadmium sulfide was meticulously fabricated on a glass substrate using the thermal evaporation method physical vapor deposition within a vacuum chamber. Different doping concentrations were introduced by varying the cadmium (Cd) content, resulting in Zn1-xCdxS films with Cd concentrations ranging from x = 0.00-0.20 wt %. The impact of Cd doping on the third-order nonlinear optical (TONLO) properties of these films was thoroughly studied using the Z-scan method, employing a diode-pumped solid-state continuous-wave laser. To gain insight into the structural characteristics, the Zn1-xCdxS thin films underwent analysis through x-ray diffraction. Optical studies confirmed …

The Changing Nature Of Education In Youth Justice Centres In New South Wales (Australia), Laura Metcalfe, Cathy Little Dr, Garner Clancey Dr, David Evans Dr
Journal of Prison Education Research
Education is an important protective factor in preventing involvement in crime. For those young people that enter the youth justice system, and especially youth justice centres, education is a critical, but infrequently explored part of their time in custody following generally disrupted schooling experiences. There are currently six youth justice centres in New South Wales, Australia. Each of these centres have an Education and Training Unit which are schools funded by and staffed with Department of Education personnel. There is evidence that young people accessing these schools regard them very positively. However, this article, drawing on publicly available information, raises …

Implementing Choice In Treatment Modality For Adolescents With Autism Learning Daily Living Skills, Silvia Robazza
Implementing Choice In Treatment Modality For Adolescents With Autism Learning Daily Living Skills, Silvia Robazza
Honors Theses
Daily living skills, categorized as personal-care activities within the home, community, and school setting, are crucial components in establishing daily routines amongst adolescents (Stabel, 2013). Many of these activities require gross motor and fine motor skills, which are skills that tend to be difficult for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD;Chen et al., 2022). When trying to express their wants and needs surrounding completing day-to-day activities, individuals with ASD may engage in problem behaviors as a way to communicate (Iwata et al., 1982). Nonetheless, implementing choice in treatment has been found to significantly decrease occurrences of problem behavior (Shogren et …

Synthesis Of Novel Temozolomide Amides As Potential Anti-Glioblastoma Agents, Sion Kim
Synthesis Of Novel Temozolomide Amides As Potential Anti-Glioblastoma Agents, Sion Kim
Honors Theses
Glioblastoma is treated with Temozolomide (TMZ), a lipophilic alkylating drug that can cross the brain-blood barrier. To confront drug resistance, this research aimed to synthesize novel TMZ amide hybrids by using the acid chloride method, replacing an amino group with a primary amine. These novel hybrids were tested on U87-MG cells to determine if the primary amines with greater anticancer properties and lipophilicity have enhanced the drug's anticancer activity and bioavailability. The calculated lethal concentration 50 (LC50) of the hybrids ranged from 0.005 mg/mL to 0.2258 mg/mL, with some demonstrating greater anticancer effects than TMZ itself.

Analysis Of Gen-Z Age Groups And Their Screen Time In Romania, Gabby Ramos Yarala
Student Publications and Presentations
Screen time is the amount of time spent in front of a screen, whether it’s a cell phone, television or computer screen. Large amounts of screen time can reduce sleeping duration and cause an increase in sleeping problems (Hale & Guan, 2015). Students either in high school or college who spend a lot of time in front of screens have a hard time becoming academically successful (Aguilar et al., 2015). Large amounts of screen time leads to an unhealthy lifestyle. This experiment analyzed Gen-Z’s screen time in Romania. My hypothesis was that the 22-24 year old age group would have …

Integrity in Research and Scholarship
Conducting cutting-edge research and scholarship becomes more complicated with each passing year; forming a collaborative research group offers a way to navigate this increasing complexity. Yet many individuals whose work might benefit from the formation of a collaborative team may feel overwhelmed by the prospect of attempting to build and maintain a research group. We propose this simple guide for starting and maintaining such an enterprise.
This version (V2, 2024) updates the original version (V1, 2019) with two new topics, expanded content, and additional resources.

Green Function In Metric Measure Spaces, Mario Bonk, Luca Capogna, Xiaodan Zhou
Mathematics Sciences: Faculty Publications
We study existence and uniqueness of Green functions for the Cheeger QLaplacian in metric measure spaces that are Ahlfors Q-regular and support a Q-Poincar´e inequality with Q > 1. We prove uniqueness of Green functions both in the case of relatively compact domains, and in the global (unbounded) case. We also prove existence of global Green functions in unbounded spaces, complementing the existing results in relatively compact domains proved recently in [BBL20].

The construction sector has remained late in integrated information systems' adopting process to perform the system improving processes. Lack of adoption of technology has been a root cause of the early issues they faced, such as budgetary and scheduling overshoots, quality defects, safety occurrences, and generally poor communication and coordination among the stakeholders. This research looks into the benefits and challenges, the key success factors, and the implications of using an array of information systems, including building information modeling (BIM), artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) sensing, and enterprise systems, to comprehensively address issues in project management in construction …
Solvability And Difficulty Of The Snake Puzzle In The Cube And Its Topological Variants, Jamie Shepard
Solvability And Difficulty Of The Snake Puzzle In The Cube And Its Topological Variants, Jamie Shepard
Honors Theses
A snake cube is a puzzle made by a sequence of n3 straight and turn pieces that can fold into a n x n x n cube. Solving the puzzle is comparable to the problem of finding a Hamiltonian path in the grid graph of the cube. By using computer algorithms, we find and count all sequences that are solutions. Furthermore, we can count the unique folding configurations of each sequence giving us an idea of its difficulty. Finally, we expand on this by exploring the problem in other topological variants of the cube, which sheds insight into the problem …
