For Us: Towards An Intersectional Leadership Conceptualization By Black Women For Black Girls, Angel Miles Nash, April L. Peters
For Us: Towards An Intersectional Leadership Conceptualization By Black Women For Black Girls, Angel Miles Nash, April L. Peters
Education Faculty Articles and Research
This article is based on a STEM education case study that illumines the work that three Black women school leaders do specifically on behalf of Black girls, and in examining their asset-based approaches, conceptualises their work by articulating an intersectional leadership framework. By historicising and explicating the rich legacy of Black women school leaders, and specifically including the theoretical dispositions in which their pedagogy is rooted, we shine a light on the lacuna that exists in educational leadership that specifically articulates their praxes when working on behalf of students with whom they identify – that is, Black girls. Black women …

"Of Substantial Religious Importance": A Case For A Deferential Approach To The Ministerial Exception, Allison H. Pope
"Of Substantial Religious Importance": A Case For A Deferential Approach To The Ministerial Exception, Allison H. Pope
Notre Dame Law Review
This Note argues that, in order to remain consistent with the Religion Clauses’ protection of religious autonomy, civil courts must defer to the religious group’s determination of which of its employees play a role “of substantial religious importance” within the organization in carrying out its religious mission under its tenets, and are therefore “ministers,” rather than investigate and make that determination themselves. Part I provides background information on the First Amendment and an overview of the circuit court and Supreme Court decisions that laid the foundation for, built, adopted, and applied the ministerial exception as described in Hosanna-Tabor. Part …

The Challenge Of Research Supervision: The Experience Of Lecturers In Various Academic Disciplines, Angela Wright
The Challenge Of Research Supervision: The Experience Of Lecturers In Various Academic Disciplines, Angela Wright
Conference Materials
Research supervision is the highest level of teaching for academics. Yet, in many cases, academics are allocated supervision without any formal training. For many supervisors, their supervision approach will be a mirror of what they have experienced themselves at post-graduate levels. Many supervisors consider that this form of teaching is stressful and onerous due to the responsibility placed on it by the Higher Education Institution and the student ultimately. What can be done to support supervisors in their supervisory journey? There is a void in the academic literature on research supervision with scant aids available to the supervisor (Cullen, 2009). …

Agricultural Education and Communication
According to California Agriculture Education there are 89,000 FFA students enrolled in 334 high schools throughout the state and of those students, 53% are of Hispanic descent (California Agriculture Education, 2019). Yet there are limited materials available in Spanish for these parents and students in the California FFA Organization. It is critical for more resources to be developed and made available for students, families, and communities to facilitate a smooth transition into FFA involvement.
This project will be a video resource in Spanish that explains the background of FFA, how it is structured, and give perspectives from FFA advisors, past …

A Study Analyzing The Practice Of Resilience Of The Chaplain/Self-Care And Wellness In The Ministry Of The Chaplain, Javier M. Torres-Chinea
Masters Theses
It may seem that chaplains are often put into a hard work as a care giver. The purpose of this study is to explore the importance of resiliency in facing depression and spiritual exhaustion in the life of the chaplain. Lack of resilience in the chaplaincy ministry can jeopardize not only the ministry, but also cause a mood disorder that appears as transient depression and unhappiness. Resilience is important in the chaplain’s ministerial life because it will determine the way chaplains recovers from suffering, trials, and burnouts that can affected their ministry. Based on research, resilience is viewed as a …
