Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church: Foundation And Beginnings In Post-War Germany, Vladyslav Fulmes Feb 2022

Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church: Foundation And Beginnings In Post-War Germany, Vladyslav Fulmes

Occasional Papers on Religion in Eastern Europe

Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church (UAOC) met many obstacles regarding its activities from the Soviet and German occupation regimes. Due to persecution and oppression, the hierarchy and clergy of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church decided to emigrate. Preserving the canonical episcopate, the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church began a new stage of existence in emigration, ushering a new period of activity of UAOC. This study is relevant to modern historical science since the study and introduction into the scientific sphere of new archival documents and memoirs of contemporaries gives an opportunity to establish a coherent picture of the activities of the UAOC …

Examining The Influence Of Religious Attitudes, Acceptance Of Change, And Cultural Mistrust On The Utilization Of Therapy For African American Male College Students Utilizing Therapy, Jessica Miranda Shine

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

Cultural mistrust and fear of potential racism from people in the medical profession may be contributing to a noted disdain for mental health counseling among African American men. The purpose of this study was designed to gain insight into how attitudes toward religious help-seeking, acceptance of change, cultural mistrust, and mental health stigma impact therapy utilization among African American male college students. The review of literature explored the theoretical frameworks followed by the historical perspective, epigenetics, family structure, masculinity concept and help-seeking behaviors, noting barriers, fear, stigmas, spiritual influence, and economic hardships. Acceptance of change-evolving action is not currently endorsed …

The Open Journal of Occupational Therapy

Background: In this study, the personal experience of spirituality in nature (the concept of ecospirituality) was supported by occupational therapy and spiritual care staff enabling a community-based group for persons affiliated with a forensic mental health system in Ontario, Canada. Methods: A qualitative method consistent with Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis was employed. Data was collected via the completion of semi-structured interviews (n = 9). Collected data was transcribed verbatim and then coded for …

Fabc Theology Of The Laity And Its Relevance For Forming Leaders In Asia’S Local Churches, Charles Bertille Jan 2022

Fabc Theology Of The Laity And Its Relevance For Forming Leaders In Asia’S Local Churches, Charles Bertille

Loyola Papers

This paper examines the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences (FABC)’s Theology of the Laity and its relevance for forming leaders in the local Churches of Asia. Grounded in the ecclesiology of the People of God articulated by Second Vatican Council, the study highlights the dignity, charisms, and co-responsibility of the baptized in the Church’s mission. It analyzes how the Institute of Formation–Fondacio (IFF) Asia’s basic formation program embodies the FABC vision of a “new way of being Church” through holistic, communitarian, and missionary formation. The paper argues that empowering the laity through contextual formation fosters discipleship, leadership, and active participation …

The Fabc Vision Of Youth As Evangelizers In Asia, Particularly In The Archdiocese Of Goa, India, Antonetta Pereira

Loyola Papers

This study examines the vision of youth as evangelizers in Asia as articulated by the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences (FABC), with particular reference to the pastoral context of the Church in Goa. Grounded in the theological themes of communio ecclesiology, evangelization, and missional participation, the paper argues that young people should be recognized not merely as recipients of pastoral care but as active agents of the Church’s missionary mission. Considering the social and cultural realities affecting Asian youth, the study highlights the importance of accompaniment, formation in mission, and a relevant spirituality. It proposes practical pastoral directions to empower …

Canon 915: The Spirit And Letter Of The Law, Kurt Zion V. Pala Jan 2022

Canon 915: The Spirit And Letter Of The Law, Kurt Zion V. Pala

Loyola Papers

This paper examines Canon 915 by analyzing its juridical meaning, theological foundations, and pastoral implications. It clarifies the canon’s application to those obstinately persisting in manifest grave sin, distinguishing between internal and external forum responsibilities. Drawing from canonical commentaries, Scripture, and magisterial teaching, the study highlights the conditions required for denying Holy Communion and the minister’s duty to avoid scandal while safeguarding the Eucharist’s dignity. At the same time, it underscores the need for pastoral prudence, mercy, and accompaniment, especially in complex situations such as irregular unions. The paper argues for a balanced approach that integrates fidelity to the law …

Philippine Pastoral Implications Of Pope Francis’ Vision Of Youth Evangelization, Edrylle C. Dayrit Jan 2022

Philippine Pastoral Implications Of Pope Francis’ Vision Of Youth Evangelization, Edrylle C. Dayrit

Loyola Papers

The article gathers five key themes from the Pope’s teachings, applies them specifically to youth evangelization, and underlines their pastoral implication: (1) the missionary mode of evangelizing, (2) the agents of youth evangelization, (3) synodality and accompaniment, (4) the culture of encounter, (5) and the joy of the Gospel. Drawing mainly from the seminal document Evangelii Gaudium and the Pope’s Exhortation to and on the Youth, Christus Vivit, the author offers a practical synthesis of the Pontiff’s vision of evangelization - which is not necessarily limited to youth ministry - and identifies its essential features that aim to bring out …

A Life Worth Living: Evaluating And Assisting Army Chaplains In Suicide Prevention, John Simon Cochran Jan 2022

A Life Worth Living: Evaluating And Assisting Army Chaplains In Suicide Prevention, John Simon Cochran

Doctor of Ministry Projects

Despite its efficiency and flexibility as a modern fighting force, the U.S. Army has experienced an alarming spike in the number of its soldiers committing suicide over the past decade – approximately a 20% increase. The goal of this project is to contribute to the lessening of future suicides by evaluating the current preparedness of U.S. Army chaplains to assist with suicide prevention and intervention efforts among U.S. Army soldiers. The study will provide actionable conclusions of how chaplains can more effectively identify, intervene, and influence U.S. Army soldiers away from the risk of suicide towards a life worth living.
