An Application Framework Of Service Design For Servitization, Peng Lu Feb 2021

An Application Framework Of Service Design For Servitization, Peng Lu

ServDes Conference Series

Einola et al. (as cited in Kohtamäki, Rabetino, & Einola, 2018, p. 186) pointed out that “the tensions that manufacturers face when transitioning from manufacturing products toward the provision of customized integrated solutions are often paradoxical in nature,” which could be taken as the cultural and corporate challenges of adopting a servitization business strategy (Baines et al., 2009; Viet et al., 2013). As an emerging design field, service design offers a holistic, human-centered, co-creative approach to developing new services (Costa et al., 2018), which has the potential to be embodied in the process of servitization. This short paper tries to …

From Product Centricity To Services: Design Workshops And Maps As Tools In Strategy Articulation, Olivia Harre, Lene Nielsen

ServDes Conference Series

This paper explores how an IT company wants to change from product- centricity to servitization. A cross-functional customer journey workshop mapped the current state from the customer’s point of view, and by identifying opportunities, it identifies gaps in becoming a service organization. Activities in the workshop focused on mapping a current customer journey and a proposition of a customer journey. The case explores how a service design workshop and tools can be used in strategic work, to support and facilitate a discussion on changes needed to be customer-centric, going beyond technology and features. The workshop and maps proved useful in …

ServDes Conference Series

The value of excellent service design can only be realized when it has an organization’s buy-in and is being implemented. Service Designers not only need to focus on designing excellent service but also need to be concerned with the implementation of design, in a smooth and sustainable manner.

In this highly practical and interactive workshop, we will introduce Ken Wilber's Integral Framework and AQAL map for a smoother implementation of the service design practice.

We encourage all participants to bring their real-life client/own scenario(s). We will uncover blind spots and explore new possibilities for creating project buy-in. At the end …

An Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis Of Leadership And Interprofessional Conflict In A Chronic Joint Venture Setting, Jeffrey Thomas Stevey

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

The logics of medical professionalism and managerialism often result in differences in perspectives and conflicting prioritization of healthcare delivery, resulting in interprofessional conflict that stymies healthcare reform initiatives. In the context of dialysis joint ventures in the chronic healthcare setting, interprofessional conflict threatens the collaborative processes needed to deliver the desired clinical and financial performance outcomes. This study sought to explore the influence of leadership behaviors on the manifestation of collaboration and conflict in dialysis joint ventures to provide leaders with recommendations on how to modify behaviors to achieve desired outcomes. Six dyads of physicians and managers, three dyads from …

Finding “Hidden Heroines”, Jennifer Helgren Feb 2021

Finding “Hidden Heroines”, Jennifer Helgren

Pacific Faculty Work

This article explores girls' participation in 1976 American Revolution Bicentennial celebrations through their national organizations. Members of the Girl Scouts and the Camp Fire Girls were deeply involved in the nation's displays of civic pride. Girls' organizations linked their ordinary service projects to the Bicentennial and created new projects as they caught the national bandwagon. To some extent, these efforts emphasized unquestioning patriotism, but each organization, propelled by second-wave feminism and social history, also absorbed and advanced efforts to recover multiple perspectives. Girls' organizations became public history spaces and girls in them saw the understanding of and dissemination of history …

Corporate governance and internal controls over the accounting and financial reporting processes are critical to timely and accurate financial data reporting. Sheikh (2019) concluded that internal controls establish accepted practices, manage risk choices in decision-making, and improve ongoing monitoring activities to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and company policy. Wang and Zhou (2016) identified leadership as a critical component of corporate governance and concluded that a company’s accounting process and related controls were interdependent with enterprise management and directly correlated to the sustainability of operations and business success. Angelo King Institute for Economic and Business Studies (AKI)

Entrepreneurial venture growth requires the capacity to produce products that are acceptable to the market, and the level of support given to enterprises helps them produce, innovate, and gain market access. However, entrepreneurs are faced with challenges related to physical and social infrastructure, local and global business environment, a level playing field, access to financing, and access to skill development and knowledge. If these remain unmitigated, they have the potential to hamper entrepreneurial growth. Hence, we inquire on the critical drivers of venture growth that will allow entrepreneurs to stimulate their enterprises using founder characteristics, firm attributes, and entrepreneurial strategies. …

We conducted a study to examine the association between organizational change and personal factors and Extension family and consumer sciences agents' innovativeness regarding caregiving programming. Respondents rated their receptiveness to change and answered questions regarding psychosocial health factors. We found that years in current position, leadership self-efficacy, interoffice support, and social support were significant predictors of innovativeness. Results suggest that personal factors rather than organizational change factors may be the more crucial mechanisms for driving …

Exploring The Effects Of Coworker Ostracism On Feedback Inquiry And Voice: The Mediating Role Of Proactive Motivation, Ethan G. Rothstein

Dissertations, Theses, and Capstone Projects

Coworker ostracism occurs when employees perceive that their coworkers are ignoring or excluding them. The current work examines how coworker ostracism predicts feedback inquiry and voice, two proactive behaviors important for individual and organizational success. Specifically, I explored whether these relationships are mediated by three proactive motivation states: organizational identification, control appraisal, and positive affect. I also examined whether political skill and perceived organizational support (POS) moderated the relationships between coworker ostracism and proactive motivation states, as well as the proposed indirect effects. I collected data from 309 participants via TurkPrime, using a two-wave lagged design with measurements separated by …
