Strategic Assessment Of Factors That Create A Resistance To Change During The Implementation Of Enterprise Resource Planning (Erp) Systems. The Case Of Lebanese Organizations, Marwan Azouri, Atef Harb, Lina Bou Chaaya, Claud Akoury
Arab Economic and Business Journal
Resistance to change can be found in all organizations, but it is almost always an essential measure to be considered and analyzed in detail, so it will be relevant to demonstrate what are the main causes to resist the change during the implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system in order to avoid it and find optimal solutions for it. We will be comparing our study to several previous studies that have been conducted in different countries such as Yemen and Malaysia. Our study roughly employs the same factors utilized in these previous studies. Our objective will also …
Predictors Of Engagement In Nursing Professional Practice: Transforming Organizational Culture In The Post-Covid Healthcare Environment, Jennifer Garnand
Predictors Of Engagement In Nursing Professional Practice: Transforming Organizational Culture In The Post-Covid Healthcare Environment, Jennifer Garnand
Dissertations
Cultivating the shared belief that individuals matter within an organization enhances the empowerment of staff and supports enthusiastic engagement in organizational efforts aimed toward a common mission, vision, and goals (McShane & Von Glinow, 2019). The nursing profession has been plagued by an unprecedented decrease in engagement and diminished job satisfaction, particularly following the prolonged tenure of the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to subsequent attrition amidst a staffing crisis. This quantitative predictive correlational study seeks to determine whether proactive and persevering characteristics, professional identity, and passion of nurses are predictors of engagement in a post-COVID healthcare environment. The research was based …

Existence As A Threat, Alena M. Allen
Existence As A Threat, Alena M. Allen
Connecticut Law Review
There is an ongoing debate in the legal academy about how and whether to integrate race into curricula. For people of color, race impacts their day-to-day lives in ways large and small. In the law school setting, the experience of students of color is often a fraught one. For many students of color, navigating law school is akin to walking a tight rope. This Essay attempts to highlight the myriad challenges facing students of color, and it offers some thoughts about how to create a more inclusive environment

Monitoring Corporate Compliance Through Cooperative Federalism: Trends In Multistate Settlements By State Attorneys General, Colin Provost, Elysa Dishman, Paul Nolette
Political Science Faculty Research and Publications
Recent scholarship on U.S. regulatory federalism has tended to focus on conflict between the states and state resistance to federal initiatives. Less attention has been given to federal–state cooperation and how it affects regulatory enforcement. In this article, we examine intergovernmental cooperation in multistate lawsuits filed by state attorneys general to ascertain trends in multistate regulatory enforcement through litigation over time. We pay particular attention to the increasing use of compliance monitoring by both state and federal regulators, including through monitors independent of the regulated industries. Relying upon a dataset of legal settlements, scoping interviews, and two case studies of …

A Nursing-Driven Delirium Protocol, Alexandria Gray Bridges
Doctor of Nursing Practice Scholarly Projects
Problem Statement: Delirium is a common, often preventable, condition in hospitalized patients and is associated with increased complications, worse outcomes, increased risk of death, and increased health care costs. Purpose: The purpose of this project was to determine if, utilizing a nursing-driven, non-pharmacological intervention, based on the NICE Guidelines, can decrease the incidence of delirium. Methods: Using the Iowa Model of Evidenced Based Practice to Promote Quality Care (Iowa Model), an EBP project was implemented. Patients were identified as being at risk of delirium using The Confusion Assessment Method (CAM) and these patients received the non-pharmacologic intervention as part of …

Assessing The Readiness Of Chf Patients To Use The Medisafe App To Increase Medication Adherence, Janet Lynn Kubas
Doctor of Nursing Practice Scholarly Projects
Problem Statement: Heart failure (HF) is a complex cardiovascular disease that affects 6.2 million Americans and is associated with high morbidity and mortality, with almost 400,000 deaths annually. Medication adherence in HF can lower the risk of death and rehospitalization. As many as 46% of heart failure patients have medication nonadherence. The 2021 Update to the 2017 American College of Cardiology Expert Consensus Decision Pathway for Optimization of Heart Failure Guidelines recommends smartphones or other mobile health (mHealth) applications (apps) for medication adherence tracking. Purpose: This evidence-based practice project aimed to assess the readiness of HF patients admitted to an …
The Use Of A Clinical Pathway To Increase Child Abuse Screenings Of Young Children With Fractures, Stephanie Li Schaller
The Use Of A Clinical Pathway To Increase Child Abuse Screenings Of Young Children With Fractures, Stephanie Li Schaller
Doctor of Nursing Practice Scholarly Projects
Problem Statement: Nationally, infants and young children who present to emergency departments with fractures are not being screened adequately for possible physical abuse with a skeletal survey (Paine & Wood, 2018; Shelmerdine et al., 2014; Wood et al., 2019). Without universal screenings, implicit bias along racial and socioeconomic lines becomes a factor in deciding which children with fractures get screened, resulting in either under-or over-utilization of skeletal survey screenings (Kim et al., 2017; Paine & Wood, 2018). When child abuse is not diagnosed correctly, further abusive injuries or death can occur (Ravischandiran et al., 2010). Purpose: This evidence-based practice project …
Academic Brands And Cognitive Dissonance, Mark Bartholomew
Academic Brands And Cognitive Dissonance, Mark Bartholomew
Contributions to Books
Published as Chapter 7 in Academic Brands: Distinction in Global Higher Education (Mario Biagioli & Madhavi Sunder, eds., Cambridge University Press, 2022).
It is hard to reconcile the research university’s supposed reason for being – the reasoned pursuit of knowledge – with its methods for building brand awareness and equity. Just like pitches for other luxury goods, the selling of higher education depends on irrational appeals devoid of information and marketing missives meant to hug the line between legally protected puffery and outright fraud. Although universities have always borrowed from the selling strategies of the commercial sphere, in recent years, …

Accessing History In Gettysburg: A Study Of Accessibility Of Public History Institutions, Theodore J. Szpakowski
Student Publications
Based on field observation and interviews with staff, this paper evaluates the state of accessibility in five Gettysburg public history institutions in the summer of 2022. Evaluation criteria for field observations were determined based on a critical disability studies approach, focusing on disabled people’s accounts of these and similar institutions. The research revealed areas of success and failure in current accessibility measures, as well as ongoing projects to increase accessibility in most institutions. The rubric developed here could be refined and used as a research tool or an institutional planning tool.

Management Faculty Publications and Presentations
This research aims to examine how the prior experiences of the chief executive officer (CEO) and board influence the focal firm’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. Further, the present study examines how CEO overconfidence influences the diffusion of CSR activities. The authors theorize that overconfident CEOs are influenced more by the corporate strategies they experienced on other boards and less by the corporate strategies experienced by other directors. Through longitudinal analyses of the CSR profiles a sample of S&P 500 companies for the period 2006-2013, the study shows that CEO and board prior CSR experience are positively related to the …
Addressing Polypharmacy: Implementing The Medication Appropriateness Index Clinical Tool To Increase Deprescribing By Healthcare Providers, Lori Floyd
Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
Background: Polypharmacy is a national and local issue of concern within healthcare. Deprescribing medications has been identified as a plausible solution for patients experiencing polypharmacy. However, many healthcare providers are unaware of the practice of deprescribing and, if aware, may not be implementing clinical tools for deprescribing effectively. The family medicine clinical site supplies an opportunity for healthcare providers to utilize an evidence-based clinical tool to review medications, identify if inappropriate, and deprescribe if indicated.
Purpose: The purposes of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project were to increase deprescribing activity among prescribing healthcare providers and to increase prescribing healthcare …

White Blindness: An Investigation Into Teacher Whiteness And Racial Ignorance, Mary Katharine Brasche
Theses and Dissertations
White supremacy and domination are the backbone foundation of the United States and have been long documented in its history. The prevalence of whiteness and white supremacy is not isolated to social situations or commerce but fundamentally ingrained in the education system. While Brown v. the Board of Education abolished the notion of separate but equal, the education of a diverse American student population remains predominantly at the hands of White, female educators. This action research study, using an investigative mixed-methods design, attempted to address educator whiteness at a small, rural high school in the Southeastern United States. Treatment …

Transforming Instructors’ Resistance To Change Mindset Using Eti-Based Content Sequence Of The First Courses In Financial Accounting Reform Initiative, Mujtahid Subagyo
Theses and Dissertations
As an accounting professor who has been teaching subjects in the domain of Financial Accounting (FA) for more than 10 years, I have observed the worrying phenomenon of reform stagnation in my accounting education program. There have been several reform efforts, mostly designed in a top-down mechanism, both in the aspect of curriculum and instruction aimed to improve the quality of education service in our institution in general. Unfortunately, most of them failed to be executed and some of them did not even make it to the planning stage mainly due to general resistance from the faculty. The current research …

A Qualitative Study Of The Factors That Support Female Educators While Raising Young Children, Christine M. Dean
Doctor of Education (Ed.D)
The purpose of this research study was to examine the personal and professional factors that support female educators while raising young children. This study was designed as a bounded case study that included six women who taught in a Christian school while they were raising children. Their interview data revealed three major themes: conflict, personal supports, and professional supports. Participants reported conflicts such as conflicting obligations between their teacher and maternal roles, expectations, and priorities. Key supports helped to resolve or avoid these conflicts. Personal factors such as supportive and extended family members assisted teachers as they balanced the responsibilities …

Strategies For Sustaining Automotive Dealerships Beyond 5 Years, Lyndon Fitzgerald Taylor
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Small businesses in the United States employ 48% of the workforce, and only 50% percent of small businesses survive beyond 5 years. Business leaders are concerned with strategies to retain and expand their customer base to mitigate business failure and enhance survivability. Grounded in the leader-member exchange theory, the purpose of my qualitative multiple case study was to explore strategies automotive dealership business leaders used to sustain their businesses beyond 5 years. The participants comprised five business leaders in the automotive industry in the Central and Southwest U.S. State of Michigan. Data were collected using semistructured face-to-face interviews and a …
Research Data Management Practices And Impacts On Long-Term Data Sustainability: An Institutional Exploration, Sarah Elaine Bratt
Research Data Management Practices And Impacts On Long-Term Data Sustainability: An Institutional Exploration, Sarah Elaine Bratt
Dissertations - ALL
With the 'data deluge' leading to an institutionalized research environment for data management, U.S. academic faculty have increasingly faced pressure to deposit research data into open online data repositories, which, in turn, is engendering a new set of practices to adapt formal mandates to local circumstances. When these practices involve reorganizing workflows to align the goals of local and institutional stakeholders, we might call them 'data articulations.' This dissertation uses interviews to establish a grounded understanding of the data articulations behind deposit in 3 studies: (1) a phenomenological study of genomics faculty data management practices; (2) a grounded theory study …
Integrated Behavioral Health And Primary Care: Refining A Determinant Framework, Ariel Michelle Domlyn
Integrated Behavioral Health And Primary Care: Refining A Determinant Framework, Ariel Michelle Domlyn
Theses and Dissertations
The integration of behavioral health and primary care is a best practice to improve patient outcomes and achieve health equity. However, the process of integrating is opaque, requiring organizational change and sometimes a complete system overhaul. Implementation science offers useful ideas for helping healthcare organizations to implement care. This field has identified potential environmental conditions and determinants of successful implementation; however, much is still unknown about how these factors may be relevant for organizations seeking to integrate care. To address the limited existing knowledge in this area, this dissertation gathers practice-based evidence using exploratory methods. Results are translated into an …

Middle School Transition: The Influence Of An Academy Approach And The Role Of Leadership, Kimberly Calhoun Odom
Theses and Dissertations
Students entering middle school frequently encounter challenges in their transition as they leave the comforts of elementary school. Traditionally, fifth grade students experience their last year in elementary school in a similar fashion to the previous five years of elementary school. They are in self-contained classrooms with one teacher for the majority of their school day. This study’s objective is to determine best practices and strategies that support fifth grade students in transitioning to the rigors of middle school. More specifically, the research focuses on the impact of an Academy structure in the elementary setting that models the transitions of …

Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This study aimed to examine Directors of Centers for Teaching and Learning DEI practices and understanding of leadership style within their 4-year universities in the United States. Information indicates that student enrollment of students identifying as members of historically marginalized groups is increasing and that persistent descriptions of experiences related to educational barriers negatively impact learning experiences. Integrating this information into this narrative life span study and considerations of the components of leadership identity development provided themes regarding the critical practices among higher education institutional leaders. The study presented findings that described the impact of the life span factor on …
