The Effects Of Sleep And Culture On A Police Officer’S Mindset Involved In A Traffic Collison, Christopher Gary Cano
The Effects Of Sleep And Culture On A Police Officer’S Mindset Involved In A Traffic Collison, Christopher Gary Cano
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The host police department experienced 58 traffic collisions from 2019-2020, which resulted in adverse outcomes for police officers and community members. The police department seeks a solution to reduce and prevent future collisions. This problem is not an isolated incident, as traffic collisions have been the leading cause of death and injury to police officers in the United States for the last three decades. Previous research focused on the causative factors of traffic collisions (speeding, distracted driving); however, little research has been dedicated to why a police officer would engage in risky driving. Is the mindset of a police officer …

Developing An Evangelistic Training Class For Revitalization Of Outward Evangelism At Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church In Ringgold, Virginia, Anthony R. Pass
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
This thesis research project asserts that evangelizing the unchurched is essential to being an effective disciple of the Lord’s kingdom. Mt. Zion’s evangelism focus has slipped into the background of everything else, and the researcher created an evangelistic training class (ETC) to teach willing participants at Mt. Zion electric shock evangelism to shock their hearts into the rhythm of sharing the gospel. This spiritually healthy regiment will benefit those who witness …

The Relationship Among Emotional Intelligence And Leadership Styles Of Female Law Enforcement Executives, Durriyyah Drummond
The Relationship Among Emotional Intelligence And Leadership Styles Of Female Law Enforcement Executives, Durriyyah Drummond
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Effective leadership within police organizations has contributed to challenges in retention, recruitment, and increased negative public attention. While researchers have proposed a relationship between emotional intelligence (EI), leadership effectiveness, and leadership styles, limited research has explored these dynamics within law enforcement, particularly among female law enforcement executives. This study utilized transformational leadership theory, the full-range leadership model, and trait EI theory as its theoretical frameworks. The primary objective of this quantitative research was to assess the relationship between gender, EI, and leadership styles, building on previous studies that examined similar correlations among African American and Caucasian law enforcement executives. The …

Ai Attitudes At Work: The Influence Of Retraining Opportunities And Leadership Status, Phillip Nguyen M.S., Mandy Foshee, Gwendolyn Paige Watson Phd, Amy M. Schuster Phd, Shubham Agrawal Phd, Shelia R. Cotten Phd
River Cities Industrial and Organizational Psychology Conference
Understanding factors that shape employee attitudes towards Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the workplace is critical, as these attitudes influence the successful adoption of AI technologies. This study examined the relationship between employees expected retraining opportunities to work alongside AI and their attitudes toward AI at work. Drawing on Conservation of Resources (COR) theory (Hobfoll, 1989), retraining opportunities can be conceptualized as an avenue for acquiring and fostering valuable resources (e.g., work tools, job security, self-efficacy, job skills). Thus, employees who expect retraining may be more likely to view AI positively as training provides the opportunity to obtain these resources, with …
Unlocking Employee Well-Being: The Mediating Effect Of Diversity Climate In An Inclusive Workplace, Ciara Covington, Shahnaz Aziz
Unlocking Employee Well-Being: The Mediating Effect Of Diversity Climate In An Inclusive Workplace, Ciara Covington, Shahnaz Aziz
River Cities Industrial and Organizational Psychology Conference
Diversity climate pertains to an employee’s perceptions of how well their organization demonstrates support and promotion to diverse employees (Leveson & Joiner, 2009; Tellur, 2023). The conceptualization of diversity climate is rooted in social identity theory (Stets & Burke, 2000) and organizational justice theory (Yean & Yusof, 2015). Social identity theory suggests that identification and membership within the organization impacts an employee’s perception of inclusivity (Mor Barak et al., 2022; Shore & Chung, 2021; Cole et al., 2016). Organizational justice theory highlights the influence of perceived fairness when organizations create and manage inclusive work policies (Griffith et al., 2005). There …

Shifting Under Pressure: Timing Practices Within Regulatory Information Disclosure Programs, Vinit Desai
Shifting Under Pressure: Timing Practices Within Regulatory Information Disclosure Programs, Vinit Desai
American Business Review
Research examines the process through which regulatory agencies and other powerful third parties publicly disseminate information about organizations in order to reduce the information asymmetry between those organizations and their dispersed or less powerful stakeholders. These disclosure programs are presumed to work by mobilizing stakeholders to pressure organizations for change. Prior studies focus on organizations’ resistance to that external pressure, often drawing from theories of institutional forces and organizational legitimacy. Instead, the present study examines the public disclosure process itself, and adapts research on organizational learning and collective attention focus to develop new theory regarding how organizations may selectively time …

A Yin-Yang Perspective Of Street-Level Policy Entrepreneurs, Monica Ren, Hua Xing, Puyao Xing
American Business Review
We introduce a cultural perspective, Yin-Yang logic, to explore how street-level policy entrepreneurs (SLPEs) formulate policy and foster inter-local collaborations across 14 Chinese cities. Drawing on a case forming the Chinese Eastern Northeast Economic Zone (2003-2016), we identify 20 critical incidents through interviews and content analysis. We make four main theoretical contributions: (i) this study is the first in the SLPEs literature to introduce a cultural perspective, the Yin-Yang logic, for understanding the complex yet central role that SLPEs play in policy innovation; (ii) it reveals a sequential six-stage process view in policy innovation formation from the Yin-Yang perspective; (iii) …

What Have Corporations Got To Do With It? A Political Economy Approach To Organizations And Climate Change, Annika Rieger
Research Collection School of Social Sciences
Ecological issues are often seen as only one of the many “problems” societies face today, even though they go deep and affect everything – from physical disruption and displacement to perhaps more subtle long-term changes in temperature, flora, and fauna that alter the face of the planet and the norms of everyday life. As a result of this view, the study of the environment has been siloed into the realm of “environmental sciences” with a few “environmental fill-in-the-social-science-blank” subfields scattered about. This is not to say that only “environmental” problems are important, but that across all disciplines and subfields, greater …
