Self-Colonization In American Law: The Internet And Personal Information Example, Daniel J.H. Greenwood
Self-Colonization In American Law: The Internet And Personal Information Example, Daniel J.H. Greenwood
Hofstra Law Faculty Scholarship
Since the Reagan era, American economic policy has amounted to self-colonization. Democratic majorities have consistently supported legal regimes that have enabled corporations to extract the lion’s share of the gains from trade from the public. For example, they have supported a corporate law regime that denies the public democratic control over the behavior of corporations and instead gives dictatorial powers to shareholders and managers. The Internet has made it even easier for firms to extract surpluses from consumers through surveillance and algorithmic pricing. One small contribution toward a project of decolonizing the public would be for consumers to obtain a …
Dietary Intake And Changes In Body Composition Over The Course Of One Season In Ncaa Division 1 Football Players, Blayke W. Harrison
Dietary Intake And Changes In Body Composition Over The Course Of One Season In Ncaa Division 1 Football Players, Blayke W. Harrison
Master's Theses
Energy intake and macronutrient composition of an athlete’s diet is highly important when considering performance. Additionally, having a favorable body composition (i.e. low levels of fat mass and high levels of lean body mass) is crucial in high-level athletes. The role of nutrition-related support personnel is highly needed by many collegiate athletics programs to achieve these outcomes, yet this resource seems to be undervalued and underused in many settings. The present thesis investigates the effects of providing nutritional support to improve dietary habits and compare changes in specific body composition metrics over the course of one season (pre- and post-season) among …
An Evaluation Of The Relationship Between Beef Cattle Grazing Activity Traits And Conception Methods During The Breeding Season, Jason Dubowsky
An Evaluation Of The Relationship Between Beef Cattle Grazing Activity Traits And Conception Methods During The Breeding Season, Jason Dubowsky
Master's Theses
Efficient use of native rangelands and improved reproductive success are primary objectives in beef cattle production. Grazing behavior during the breeding season may be influenced by pasture characteristics, including size and water availability, as well as physiological differences due to reproductive status. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between grazing activity and conception method in crossbred Angus cows over a 2-year period. The study was conducted during the winter months (December – February) on the Central Coast of California with a mean temperate of 53 degrees Fahrenheit. Cows (n = 76) were blocked by age and then randomly assigned …

(Wp 2025-05) Expanding Black Reparations With Human And Social Capital Investments, John B. Davis
(Wp 2025-05) Expanding Black Reparations With Human And Social Capital Investments, John B. Davis
Economics Working Papers
Disadvantaged social groups in the US suffered disproportionately in the covid pandemic and Great Recession, worsening high levels of inequality associated with their post-1980 declining intergenerational income mobility. For black Americans this reflects the long history of racial discrimination beginning with slavery. Reparations paid to descendants of enslaved individuals to eliminate the black-white wealth gap is a step toward addressing this history. A further needed step is to build predominantly black communities human and social capital through public investments in community health care centers (CHCs) and historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). There is considerable evidence that investments in early …

Identification Of Metabolic Pathways And Hub Genes Associated With Ultrasound Subcutaneous Fat And Muscle Depth Of The Longissimus Muscle In Cull Beef Cows Using Gene Co-Expression Analysis, Harshraj Shinde, Kyle R. Mcleod, Jeffrey W. Lehmkuhler
Animal and Food Sciences Faculty Publications
Beef production is an important component of the world’s food supply, with production being near 59 million tons in 2023 (USDA, 2023). Enhancing our understanding of the factors influencing metabolism will lead to improvements in production efficiency. Using RNA-seq and WGCNA of longissimus muscle samples, gene expression and metabolic pathway analyses were performed to examine relationships with ultrasound and body mass variables. In this study, body weight (BW), ultrasound back fat (BF), ultrasound muscle depth (MD), and body condition score (BCS) were traits recorded for 18 cull beef cows. As expected, all production-related traits monitored (WT, BF, MD, and BCS) …

This study was conducted for Kaniksu Land Trust to provide insight into the characteristics of attendees of the 2025 Clark Fork River Pedal & Farm Tour hosted in Trout Creek, Montana. Forty-two attendees of the event completed the survey. Results show that the majority of respondents resided outside of Sanders County, with 71% from Montana (but only 7% from Sanders County itself) and 29% visiting from other US states, primarily Idaho. Out-of-county respondents spent an average of 2.3 nights in Sanders County, reporting a total spending of $8,732.00, mostly in hotel/motel/bed and breakfasts and restaurants/bars. Results provide event organizers with …

Childhood cancer incidence has steadily risen both in the United States and worldwide, yet its environmental contributors remain underrecognized in clinical care. Children and cancer survivors are particularly susceptible to environmental exposures due to their unique physiology and the long-term health vulnerabilities that follow cancer treatment. Although exposures to substances such as pesticides, air pollution, and household chemicals are linked to increased cancer risk, limited clinical frameworks and clinician training leave oncologists underprepared to address growing environmental health concerns from families. A holistic pediatric oncology environmental health program in Murcia, Spain offers a scalable vision for embedding the environment into …

Background: Hispanics have been historically underrepresented in epidemiologic cancer research. Existing cohort studies focused on recruiting Hispanic participants have been relatively small, making studying cancer outcomes challenging. Therefore, we aimed to compare the distribution of cancer risk factors among Hispanic women of Mexican heritage (HWMH) participating in existing cohorts to explore the possibility of future data pooling efforts.
Methods: We used baseline data of HWMH from three US-based studies, the Mexican American Cohort (MAC; n = 19,797; 2001-2017), the Multiethnic Cohort (MEC; n = 18,007; 1993-1996), and the Hispanic Community Health Study/Study of Latinos (HCHS/SOL; n = 4,022; 2008-2011), and …

Blockchain-Powered Dynamic Segmentation In Personal Health Record, Mishall Al-Zubaidie, Wid Alaa Jebbar
Mesopotamian Journal of CyberSecurity
Sensitive patient data must be handled securely in modern oncology care to protect patient privacy, regulatory compliance, and clinical decision-making integrity. Conventional centralized healthcare systems pose serious threats to patient confidentiality and treatment continuity because of their susceptibility to data breaches, illegal access, and single points of failure. This study suggests a blockchain-based decentralized cancer healthcare security solution. The proposed system is based on the idea of layers; each layer has a distinct function that gives it a feature that sets it apart from the others. A hierarchical clustering algorithm (HCA) is used in the first layer to determine the …
