Pastoral Leaders’ Perception Of Obesity And Their Role Within Faith-Based Organizations, Darren D. Moore, Clinton E. Cooper, Charles Williams
The Qualitative Report
The purpose of this study was to explore the perspectives of pastoral leaders regarding obesity and health within faith-based organizations (FBOs). In this study, the authors focused on gaining additional insight regarding how pastoral leaders conceptualize and make sense of their roles in terms of health promotion within FBOs. Utilizing a qualitative research methodological approach, specifically Qualitative Description, authors administered a qualitative survey to 12 participants which yielded three emerging themes: (1) perceived scope, (2) understanding and use of resources, and (3) defining obesity through pastoral leaders’ perspectives. In the study, investigators discuss clinical implications and provide recommendations.

Upon reaching the university level, all students face a new learning environment, which may be a very stressful experience. If this situation is not handled properly, it can cause stress and other psychological problems, which can affect students' performance and result in unhealthy coping mechanisms like eating disorders. The objective of this research is to inspect the association between stress levels and variations in body mass index among students at Wasit University, in addition to other socio-demographic factors such as student gender, age group, marital status, and college they study. A self-administered questionnaire containing three components: The socio-demographic background, perceived …

The Centers for Disease Prevention and Control lists Candida auris, given its global emergence, multidrug resistance, high mortality, and persistent transmissions in health care settings as one of five urgent threats. As a new threat, the need for surveillance of C. auris is critical. This is particularly important for a cosmopolitan setting and global hub such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where continued introduction and emergence of resistant variant strains is a major concern. The United Arab Emirates has carried out a 12 years of antimicrobial resistance surveillance (2010–2021) across the country, spanning all seven Emirates. A retrospective analysis …

Quetiapine, a pharmacological agent within the class of atypical antipsychotics, is characterized by its efficacy in mood stabilization and its role in the modulation of serotonergic and dopaminergic pathways. Its therapeutic utility is broad, encompassing the management of acute psychotic episodes, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and treatment-resistant depressive states. Quetiapine's effectiveness extends to depressive disorders that do not exhibit classic psychotic features, with a side effect profile that is less burdensome than many alternative psychotropic medications. Its versatility in addressing a range of psychiatric conditions is useful in the psychopharmacological management of mood and thought disorders. However, like all drugs, quetiapine …

Objectives Among people experiencing severe and multiple disadvantage (SMD), poor oral health is common and linked to smoking, substance use and high sugar intake. Studies have explored interventions addressing oral health and related behaviours; however, factors related to the implementation of these interventions remain unclear. This mixed-methods systematic review aimed to synthesise evidence on the implementation and sustainability of interventions to improve oral health and related health behaviours among adults experiencing SMD. Methods Bibliographic databases (MEDLINE, EMBASE, PsycINFO, CINAHL, EBSCO, Scopus) and grey literature were searched from inception to February 2023. Studies meeting the inclusion criteria were screened and extracted …
