The Adoption Of Advanced Healthcare Technologies In Private Healthcare Industry: Case Of Ihh Healthcare Berhad, Malaysia, Kenneth Aik Liang Kee, Jamalludin Helmi Hashim, Shirley Sie Ling Tan
Jesselton Journal of Educators and Scholars
The Malaysian healthcare system emphasizes patient satisfaction and technological advancements to enhance treatment and operations. Despite progress, not all aspects are fully addressed. The study analyzes the role of technology and stakeholders in economic growth, constructing a research framework to understand theoretical perspectives and identify gaps in the literature. A quantitative survey investigates challenges and opportunities in digital transformation, using positivism, a deductive approach, and an explanatory design. Random sampling minimizes biases, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of technology adaptation in Malaysia’s healthcare sector.
Moderating Effect Of Urban/Rural Status, State Of Residence, And Health Risk Factors On Maternal Mortality Among Different Races, Emmanuel Agubata
Moderating Effect Of Urban/Rural Status, State Of Residence, And Health Risk Factors On Maternal Mortality Among Different Races, Emmanuel Agubata
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Maternal mortality in the United States is significantly higher than in most developed nations and has been increasing since 2000. Persistent between-group disparities among White, Black, and Hispanic women occur in terms of maternal mortality; however, the reason for this is largely unknown. Using the intersectionality theory, this quantitative study examined if racial groups predicted maternal mortality and to what extent relationships were moderated by geographic area and health risk factors. This nonexperimental correlational historical research design addressed three research questions. The Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project dataset was used for the analysis. The minimum sample size was 988 cases, …

Objective: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is associated with lower antiretroviral (ART) drug exposure among persons with HIV (PWH) compared to PWH without DM. The association between DM and virologic control in PWH, however, remains unknown.
Methods: We included participants in the Multicenter AIDS Cohort Study/Women's Interagency HIV Study Combined Cohort Study (MWCCS) who had initiated ART between 1999 and 2020 and had a suppressed HIV viral load (≤200 copies/ml) within 1 year of ART initiation. We compared the frequency of incident HIV viremia (HIV-1 RNA >200 copies/ml) between adult PWH with and without DM. Poisson regression was used to examine the …

Genomic instability disorders are characterized by DNA or chromosomal instability, resulting in various clinical manifestations, including developmental anomalies, immunodeficiency, and increased risk of developing cancers beginning in childhood. Many of these genomic instability disorders also present with exquisite sensitivity to anticancer treatments such as ionizing radiation and chemotherapy, which may further increase the risk of second cancers. In July 2023, the American Association for Cancer Research held the second Childhood Cancer Predisposition Workshop, where multidisciplinary international experts discussed, reviewed, and updated recommendations for children with cancer predisposition syndromes. This article discusses childhood cancer risks and surveillance recommendations for the group …

Curcumin Reduces Malondialdehyde And Improves Antioxidants In Humans With Diseased Conditions: A Comprehensive Meta-Analysis Of Randomized Controlled Trials, Mohammad Alizadeh, Sorayya Kheirouri
BioMedicine
Objective: This systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to collate the effects of curcumin on MDA and antioxidant markers in individuals with diseased conditions. In this study the research question was “does curcumin supplementation improves oxidative stress and antioxidant defense enzymes in human subjects compared to a group without curcumin supplementation?
Methods: This research included randomized controlled trials published in English in any year, in which intervention with curcumin was compared to either placebo, or standard of care or no intervention. Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane Central, Scopus and Google Scholar were searched. Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan (version 5.3), with standardized …

Cohort Study Of Microelement Status In “Healthy” Population Of Russian Megapolis, Andrew K. Martusevich, Konstantin A. Karuzin
BioMedicine
The aim of the study was at the cohort assessment of microelement status in large city residents classified as “apparently healthy people”. The population study included 2,025 randomly selected middle-aged (2045 years) persons without chronic diseases or acute infectious pathologies. The set of subjects was standardized by age and gender. A blood sample was taken once from each person to determine concentrations of microelements. The level of peripheral blood microelements were determined by atomic absorption spectrometry using «Shimadzu AA7000» device (Japan). The study of a large population of city residents demonstrated inhomogeneity in their microelement status. Deficit conditions were found …

BioMedicine
Introduction: The increasing rate of breast cancer (BC) incidence in Malaysia hints a lack of awareness among Malaysians. One (1) woman out of nineteen (19) is at risk with BC and almost up to fifty percent (50%) of women diagnosed with BC were reported to be under the age of fifty (50). Our main concern is to study the level of awareness among the women on risk factors, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, preventions and treatments.
Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted exclusively among women in the public with total sample of three hundred and forty six (346), questionnaires were distributed using …

BioMedicine
Background: Paeoniflorin (PF) possesses several effects such as analgesic, the anti-spasmodic effect on smooth muscle. It protects the cardiovascular system and reveals the neuroprotective effect on cerebral ischemia. Monoamine system has been identified to have complex regulatory effects in pain signaling. There are no reports regarding the impact of PF on monoamine levels in the rodent brain by microdialysis. In this study, the effects of PF on monoamines and their metabolites in the rodent brain usingin vivomicrodialysis andin vitrohigh performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis.
Methods: Male S.D. rats were anesthetized, fixed onto the stereotaxic instrument to identify the positions of …

Gynura BicolorAqueous Extract Attenuated H2O2Induced Injury In Pc12 Cells, Ya-Chen Yang, Wen-Tzu Wu, Mei-Chin Mong, Zhi-Hong Wang
BioMedicine
Background: Protective effects ofGynura bicoloraqueous extract (GAE) at three concentrations upon nerve growth factor (NGF) differentiated-PC12 cells against H2O2induced injury were examined.
Methods: NGF differentiated-PC12 cells were treated with GAE at 0.25%, 0.5% or 1%. 100 μM H2O2was used to treat cells with GAE pre-treatments. After incubating at 37 °C for 12 hr, experimental analyses were processed.
Results: H2O2exposure decreased cell viability, increased plasma membrane damage, suppressed Bcl-2 mRNA expression and enhanced Bax mRNA expression. GAE pre-treatments reversed these changes. H2O2exposure reduced mitochondrial membrane …
