Exploring The Differences Of Gender On Physician Burnout And Perceptions Of Work Environment, Holly C. Adams
Exploring The Differences Of Gender On Physician Burnout And Perceptions Of Work Environment, Holly C. Adams
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Physician burnout is a growing public health crisis, threatening care quality, patient safety, and workforce sustainability. Research suggests gender may influence burnout levels and perceptions of the work environment. This quantitative, cross-sectional study examined gender differences in physician burnout and workplace perceptions among U.S. physicians that impact burnout. A total of 170 licensed physicians completed an online survey using the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS (MP)) and the Areas of Worklife Survey (AWS). MANOVA results indicated a significant multivariate effect of gender on burnout. Follow-up ANOVA testing revealed that gender was significantly related to emotional exhaustion and personal accomplishment. …

School of Medicine Publications
Background
Vitamin D3 is essential for calcium metabolism and exerts pleiotropic effects, including neuroprotective activities in cognition. Its insufficiency has been linked to dementia, Alzheimer's disease, and cognitive impairments. The association between vitamin D3 and particular cognitive functions, including memory recall and word intrusion, remains imprecise, particularly among diverse ethnic and socioeconomic groups.
Objective
To examine the relationship between vitamin D3 levels with memory recall and word intrusion in individuals aged 60 and above, emphasizing demographic differences.
Methods
Data was collected from 2759 individuals in the NHANES 2011–2014 surveys. Cognitive performance was evaluated with the CERAD Word Learning, Animal Fluency, …

Journal of Food Science and Biotechnology
Tea polyphenols are the general term for polyphenols in tea, mainly including catechins, flavonoids, and anthocyanins, which have antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. The author reviewed the structural characteristics and the antioxidant and antibacterial mechanisms of tea polyphenols.Additionally, the application of tea polyphenols in the processing and preservation of meat products is summarized, providing a theoretical basis for their use in meat products.Studies have shown that tea polyphenols can achieve anti-oxidation by scavenging free radicals, chelating metal ions, and inhibiting oxidase activity. Moreover, tea polyphenols can inhibit cell growth and proliferation by inhibiting the activities of enzymes involved in cell metabolism and damaging the cell membrane system. As natural antioxidants, tea polyphenols can significantly …

Rapid Determination Of Vitamin B 1 In Infant Formula Milk Powder By Fluorescent Microsphere Immunochromatographic Assay, Qianqian Lu, Ting Yang, Yongwei Feng, Jialin Hu, Hua Kuang, Chuanlai Xu, Lingling Guo
Journal of Food Science and Biotechnology
[Objective ] A fluorescent immunochromatographic assay was established based on vitamin B 1 monoclonal antibody to measure the vitamin B 1 in infant formula milk powder.[Method ] The performance of vitamin B 1 monoclonal antibody was evaluated. On this basis,a highly sensitive fluorescent immunochromatographic test strip was developed.[Result ] The vitamin B 1 monoclonal antibody showed high sensitivity, affinity, and specificity. The fluorescent immunochromatographic test strip showed a visual limit of detection (vLOD ) of 10 μg/kg,a cut-off value of 200 μg/kg,and a calculated limit of detection (cLOD ) of 2.056 μg/kg.In addition, the recovery rate of this method was 97.3%~115.4%.The test results of the …

Journal of Food Science and Biotechnology
[Objective ] This study aims to explore the physicochemical indicators, microbial diversity, and volatile substances in the Qupi (surface ) and Quxin (core) of high-temperature Daqu.[Method ] High-throughput sequencing and headspace solid-phase microextraction coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS ) were employed to compare the microbial diversity, volatile substances, and physicochemical indicators between Qupi and Quxin of three types of Daqu.[Result ] The moisture mass fraction in Qupi of the three types of Daqu was lower than that in Quxin (P<0.05),and the moisture mass fraction was the lowest in the Qupi of white Daqu (WP) and the highest in the Quxin of yellow Daqu (YX).The acidity of Qupi and Quxin were in the order of Quxin of black Daqu (BX) > YX > Qupi of black Daqu (BP) > Quxin of white Daqu (WX) > Qupi of yellow Daqu (YP) > WP.High-throughput sequencing results showed that Firmicutes and …0.05),and>

Bacterial chondronecrosis with osteomyelitis (BCO) is a major cause of lameness in broiler chickens. This condition arises when bacteria from the gastrointestinal or aerosol tract migrate to infect bone microfractures, often exacerbated by rapid growth, reduced blood flow, and mechanical stress. As concerns about antibiotic resistance grow, probiotics have gained attention for their potential to improve gut health and reduce systemic bacterial load. This study evaluated the efficacy of a probiotic program comprising an Enterococcus faecium-based spray (2 x 10(9) CFU/bird at hatch) and a triple-strain Bacillus-based feed additive (B. subtilis 597, B. subtilis 600, and B. amyloliquefaciens 516 at …

Working Paper No. 98, Selma Mushkin And The Emergence Of The Field Of Health Economics, Sadie Kautz
Working Papers in Economics
This inquiry seeks to establish that through her effective efforts, Selma Mushkin promoted and shaped the field of Health Economics. Perhaps most importantly, she redefined health as a form of human capital that needed to be considered as both essential and integral to economic growth. In her 1958 paper: “Toward a Definition of Health Economics,” she defined the scope of this emerging field through emphasizing how improved resource allocation could lead to efficiency gains. Appearing as her 1962 article in the Journal of Political Economy, with “Health as an Investment” Mushkin advanced the idea that--much like education--public spending on health …
How Do Montessori-Based Activities Affect Behaviors For Older People With Dementia: A Literature Review, Isabel Quigley
How Do Montessori-Based Activities Affect Behaviors For Older People With Dementia: A Literature Review, Isabel Quigley
University Honors Theses
Objectives: This literature review is meant to analyze the development on the research on Montessori-based activities for adults with dementia.
Introduction: Baby Boomers are the largest generation to enter senior age (65+) in history due to the advancement in medicine to increase life expectancy. Dementia is a neurocognitive disease that affects parts of the brain related to memory and signs typically surface around 65 years old. Dementia is not considered healthy aging. Montessori-based activities have been recently developed as an intervention to encourage a feeling of accomplishment and success for adults with dementia.
Methods: Two electronic databases …
