Campus Commentary

"

Dear Brother: I am most grateful to the brethren who took time out from their busy lives to send a postcard in this general direction to tell me that they would continue to read the CAMPUS COMMENTARY over the breakfast coffee. If your mail is anything like mine (and I imagine it is since preachers seem to be on very many curious mailing lists), you have found it necessary to consign a goodly portion of the daily mail to the waste basket almost immediately upon arrival. If these few notes are held out for a little while, they have …

The Roman Catholic And Lutheran Doctrine Of Sin, Alfred Frank Volmer Jun 1950

The Roman Catholic And Lutheran Doctrine Of Sin, Alfred Frank Volmer

Bachelor of Divinity

However, while there are apparent similarities, it must be pointed out that the actual similarity or dissimilarity of churches does not consist in their external rites and ceremonies but in their teachings. Therefore, in order to get an accurate picture, it is necessary that we examine the doctrine of each church. However, since we cannot treat all the doctrines we shall take a basic one, namely, the doctrine of sin. The writer will attempt to set forth the official teachings of both churches on this one doctrine.

Natural Law Institute Proceedings

From the Foreword

The papers presented during the 1949 sessions of the Third Natural Law Institute of the University of Notre Dame and reprinted in this volume have brilliantly maintained the high standards of exacting scholarship set by the preceding sessions of 1947 and 1948. They deal with the impact of the Natural Law on four great bodies of positive law.

  • Common Law
  • Canon Law
  • Constitutional Law
  • International Law

Moral Aspects Of Sterility Tests And Artificial Insemination, Gerald Kelly Jan 1949

Moral Aspects Of Sterility Tests And Artificial Insemination, Gerald Kelly

The Linacre Quarterly

The purpose of this article is to outline briefly the present status in moral theology of the various procedures pertinent to sterility testing and artificial insemination. Both subjects are complicated. To simplify the matter as much as possible, I shall use the outline form and shall include the absolute minimum of discussion. Physicians interested in longer explanations will find these in the sources referred to at the end of the article.
