The Christian Lawyer As A Churchman, William Stringfellow
The Christian Lawyer As A Churchman, William Stringfellow
Vanderbilt Law Review
Comparative studies of moral theology and legal philosophy are irrelevant if they are isolated from the concrete life of worship. Similarly, the question of the Christian vocation of the practicing lawyer must not be solely an attempt to articulate some ethics to guide a lawyer in his decisions in work. The Christian life is not so much about deciding and doing as it is about being that which Christians are called to be. Precisely, Christians are what they are called to be in worship. Worship is not an ancillary folk activity to which Christians resort out of sentiment or superstition, …
Attitudes And Policies Of The Lutheran Church Toward The Negro, George Hans Liebenow
Attitudes And Policies Of The Lutheran Church Toward The Negro, George Hans Liebenow
Bachelor of Divinity
We believe that when Christian congregations make a distinction among people because of race and bypass Negroes in their program of saving souls a problem of moral theology is involved. Dr. o. P. Kretzmann, president of Valparaiso University, once offered the following steps to aid in solving a problem in moral theology, namely, first, there must be a hard cool appraisal of the situation as it is; secondly, we must turn to the New Testament and look at the divine will; thirdly, we must take the situation and the divine will and bring them together. In this paper we propose …

The Concept Of Education In The Light Of The Theology Of D. Martin Luther, Won Yong Ji
The Concept Of Education In The Light Of The Theology Of D. Martin Luther, Won Yong Ji
Doctor of Theology Dissertation
This thesis is a study of the theological implications of Luther’s emphasis on “education” and an examination of the contributions if any, which Luther made to education, eventually derived from such an emphasis, to his subsequent generations. Its purpose is to survey briefly his theology in order to determine the theological significance or implications of his underlying pedagogical principles and practices. “What is Luther‘s view on education?” is the final goal of this study.
This study should prove to be a value to Lutheran educators in particular in that attempts to bring Lutheran educational practices into harmony with the educational …

Pope Pius Xii To The Guild Of St. Luke, Pope Pius Xii
The Linacre Quarterly
EDITOR'S NOTE: The address of Pope Pius XII, given November 12, 1944, to the Italian Guild of St. Luke, was perhaps the most comprehensive of all of his talks on medical morality. Moreover, it seems to have been the first of his many discourses to the medical profession; and it contained in germ many of the subsequent and very important addresses. We believe that all Catholic doctors should be familiar with its content; hence, we are presenting here a very complete digest of the Pope's words. This has been made possible through the generous cooperation of Daniel T. Costello, S.J.; …
