A Concept Study For Extraterrestrial Sea Exploration Of Titan Via Deployable And Versatile Instrument Device (David) Buoys, Mary Kate Smith
A Concept Study For Extraterrestrial Sea Exploration Of Titan Via Deployable And Versatile Instrument Device (David) Buoys, Mary Kate Smith
Theses and Dissertations
Saturn’s moon, Titan, has been a scientific marvel since Cassini’s flyby discovered methane-ethane lakes in the northern hemisphere. Several science missions to explore these lakes have been proposed, but none have been launched. Using these previous mission designs, as well as the success of the Huygens probe, this paper will discuss the development of a deployable multi-buoy system with the intent of studying the methane-ethane lakes. The buoys will study the chemical makeup of the lakes, determine meteorology of Titan atmosphere, and map the depth and floor of the targeted lakes. This thesis is a concept study on the multi-buoy …

Cubesat Model-Based Systems Engineering (Mbse) Reference Model –Model Distribution And Application –Interim Status #2, David Kaslow, Bradley Ayres, Michael Chonoles, Samuel Gasster, Laura Hart, Chris Massa, Rose Yntema
Small Satellite Conference
Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is a key practice to advance systems engineering that can benefit CubeSat missions. MBSE creates a system model that helps integrate other discipline specific engineering models and simulations.
The International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) established the MBSE Initiative to promote, advance, and institutionalize the practice of MBSE. The INCOSE Space Systems Working Group Challenge team has been investigating the applicability of MBSE for designing CubeSats since 2011.
Our application of MBSE uses System Modeling Language (SysML), a graphical modeling language, to model all aspects of a system either directly or through an interface with …

The Nasa Glenn Research Center: An Economic Impact Study Fiscal Year 2015, Iryna Lendel, Luke Seaberg
All Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs Publications
This report presents an analysis of the economic impact of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s John H. Glenn Research Center (NASA Glenn) during its fiscal year (FY) 2015. It uses an input-output model, which reflects the buy-sell relationships among industries, the household sector, and the government sector in a region, to estimate the effect of NASA Glenn’s spending on the economies of both Northeast Ohio and the state of Ohio.
This model assesses economic impact in terms of growth in total output (sales); value added (output less intermediary goods); household earnings, number of new and supported jobs, and taxes. …

Australian Catholic Schools Today: School Identity And Leadership Formation, Helga Neidhart Phd, Janeen T. Lamb Phd
Journal of Catholic Education
This article focuses on the challenge of faith leadership in Catholic schools. In particular, it reviews Australian research that aims to understand how principals conceptualize and enact their role as faith leaders. Consistent with American research, Australian research finds that principals see themselves as playing a leadership role in the evangelizing mission of the church by strengthening Catholic school identity and culture. At the same time, they are mindful of their limits in respect to their faith leadership capabilities. Moreover, the principals worried that the next generation of school leaders may lack the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to engage faith …
Transnational Identities And Religious Traditions: A Case Of Religious Double Belonging In India, Enrico Beltramini
Transnational Identities And Religious Traditions: A Case Of Religious Double Belonging In India, Enrico Beltramini
disClosure: A Journal of Social Theory
This article addresses the emerging subject of religious “double belonging”: what does it mean to belong to two religious traditions? The lives of two French Roman Catholic priests, who moved to India for spiritual search and mission, work as a prism to deepen understanding of the subject, specifically regarding the relationships among identity, religious tradition, and faith. While these priests had their identities transformed as a mutable construct of negotiations in India, a more complex process occurred at the level of religious tradition. If Monchanin’s perfect and undefiled faith manifested itself in insulating the original Christian tradition from Indian influences, …
The Voice And Action Of Service: Exploring Nonprofit Volunteerism From A Dual Perspective, Colleen L. Mestayer
The Voice And Action Of Service: Exploring Nonprofit Volunteerism From A Dual Perspective, Colleen L. Mestayer
Dissertations
Key factors emerged for communicating with volunteers and staff in the nonprofit sector using a mixed methods approach in two phases. Phase I sought to explain volunteer satisfaction through the development of a new model that included motivation, identification with the nonprofit organization, attachment to the nonprofit organization and its mission, and the impact of interpersonal relationships formed between staff members and volunteers. Findings indicated that the model was an accurate predictor of volunteer satisfaction, and all variables were significantly correlated to volunteer satisfaction. Phase II sought to discover the communication patterns used by internal stakeholders of the nonprofit organization …
Factors That Motivate Faculty To Pursue External Funding At A 4-Year Public Institution Of Higher Education, Sharon D. Smith
Factors That Motivate Faculty To Pursue External Funding At A 4-Year Public Institution Of Higher Education, Sharon D. Smith
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this quantitative nonexperimental study was to indicate a better understanding of factors that motivate faculty at a 4-year public institution of higher education to pursue external funding. The study is focused on examining the relationship between characteristics of individual faculty members, productivity related to external funding, and faculty perception of intrinsic and extrinsic motivational factors related to pursuing external funding. External funding is a major source of support for research at institutions of higher education. For universities to increase external funding for research along with increasing research productivity, it is essential that university faculty members are motivated …

The Interplay Between Forms Of Revelation: Implications For Theological Methodology, Andrew Tompkins
The Interplay Between Forms Of Revelation: Implications For Theological Methodology, Andrew Tompkins
Seminary Scholarship Symposium
The interplay between forms of revelation has been a matter of much discussion in theological discourse for many centuries. While this paper is not particularly concerned with the final say on the doctrine of revelation it is concerned with revelation and its relation to theological method. In other words, what is the significance of the various modes or forms that revelation takes in connection with the way theology is approached and done? The thesis of this paper is that God is not limited to one form of revelation, but rather that each revelatory form can and does inform the others …

Ecumenical Missiology: Changing Landscapes And New Conceptions Of Mission, Kenneth R. Ross, Jooseop Keum, Kyriaki Avtzi, Roderick R. Hewitt
Regnum Edinburgh Centenary Series
This book has been prepared with acute awareness of how challenging it can be to comprehend the meaning of mission and to find direction for our own engagement in it – as individuals, churches, agencies or institutions. A key resource now available to help meet this challenge is Together Towards Life, the new mission affirmation of the World Council of Churches. This volume not only offers a wide-ranging analysis of TTL but explores the century of ecumenical missiology which underpins and informs this ground-breaking text. Every change in the global landscape has required new approaches to the practice of mission …
Witnessing To Christ In North-East India, Marina Ngursangzeli, Michael Biehl
Witnessing To Christ In North-East India, Marina Ngursangzeli, Michael Biehl
Regnum Edinburgh Centenary Series
The Church in India has a far closer connection to Edinburgh 1910, as F S Downs points out, that one of the Indian delegates was Rev Thankan Sangma, a Garo. This little known fact is illustrative of how, on one hand, the Church in North East India is ignorant of this legacy and continues to view ecumenism poorly and suspiciously, while on the other hand the challenges faced by the Church in the region and the social, economic and political milieu it is placed in, have been largely ignored, neglected, or worse still, identified with what is generally portrayed as …
Mission And Power: History, Relevance, And Perils, Atola Longkumer, Jorgen Skov Sorensen, Michael Biehl
Mission And Power: History, Relevance, And Perils, Atola Longkumer, Jorgen Skov Sorensen, Michael Biehl
Regnum Edinburgh Centenary Series
Mission cannot ignore its engagement with power. Christian mission is unavoidably located within matrices of power structures: religion, culture, colonial power, economic and gender. It is not only in the missionary movement largely emanating from the West that Christian mission is linked to structures of power. The Christian communities of today also present significant images, practices, expressions, and sometimes exploitations of power. This volume explores the notion of power in relation to Christian mission and critically engages questions such as: What notions of power have informed mission? How have power structures been negotiated between Christian mission and local culture/religions? Which …

Mission In Central And Eastern Europe: Realities, Perspectives, Trends, Corneliu Constantineanu, Marcel Valentin Măcelaru, Anne-Marie Kool, Mihai Himcinschi
Regnum Edinburgh Centenary Series
Central and Eastern Europe is one of the areas of the world that has undergone profound transformations during the 100 years delimited by the two Edinburgh gatherings that inspired the Regnum Edinburgh Centenary Series. It is the place in which Marxist ideology gave birth to the Communist hegemony that has impacted the European arena for over 50 years. But this is also the place where Christian Churches experienced God’s grace and provision, and even unexpected flourishing in some quarters. The present volume brings together significant contributions from over thirty theologians, missiologists and practitioners from this part of the world. The …

The Vital Apostolic Visits Of Elder David O. Mckay And Elder George Albert Smith For Tonga, Mary Jane Woodger
Mormon Pacific Historical Society
Early on in the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Savior was adamant that the Quorum of the Twelve would travel and traveling became a distinctive feature of those who became modern day Apostles. As early as 1832, the Savior made traveling a commandment. He revealed, “It is expedient that I give unto you this commandment that ye become even as my friends in days when I was with them, traveling to preach the gospel in my power.” (D&C 84:77). In this revelation the Lord acquainted traveling with power. Later in 1834, the Savior identified that the Traveling …
