QurʾĀn And Sunna Or The Madhhabs?: A Salafi Polemic Against Islamic Legal Tradition, Emad Hamdeh

Publications

The Albanian scholar Muḥammad Nāṣir al-Dīn al-Albānī (d. 1999) established a unique type of Salafism, a movement whose adherents follow a puritanical model of Muslim creed, exegesis, and conduct that is critical of madhhab Traditionalism. In this article I present an annotated translation of an audio lecture in which Albānī attempted to defend Salafism against its anti-madhhab image. Related Research and Documents

Data collated from multiple sources from 1771 through 2015 is used to estimate agricultural land use in the Salinas River Watershed and Groundwater Basin. Institutional responsibility for collecting and maintaining data changed with evolving sovereignty over the region and later with state and county organizational changes. As institutional focus evolved, the type and form of data collected also changed. Therefore, the compiled data often used different units of measurements and have various levels of completeness. Thus, procedures are developed here to collate the data into a consistent form by transforming all cropping data sets to a per acre basis and …

The Nasa Glenn Research Center: An Economic Impact Study Fiscal Year 2016, Iryna Lendel, Nathaniel Hoover, Luke Seaberg

All Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs Publications

This report presents an analysis of the economic impact of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s John H. Glenn Research Center (NASA Glenn) during its fiscal year (FY) 2016. It uses an input-output model, which reflects the buy-sell relationships among industries, the household sector, and the government sector in a region, to estimate the effect of NASA Glenn’s spending on the economies of both Northeast Ohio and the state of Ohio.

This model assesses economic impact in terms of growth in total output (sales); value added (output less intermediary goods); household earnings, number of new and supported jobs, and taxes. …

Research on Capitol Hill

Understanding observed space environment effects on biological organisms such seeds are important in design of long duration space missions, such as to those planned for Mars, where appropriate storage and growth of food resources is essential. Evaluation of the effects of the real and simulated space environment on seed germination and growth in space is the purpose of this research. Preliminary tests of germination rate and growth of radish seeds in a controlled environment have identified statistically significant differences between control samples and seeds flown for 30 days in low earth orbit on the Bion M-1 launch capsule Russian research …
