The Linacre Quarterly
The purpose of this department in The Linacre Quarterly is to make available by titular listing such current articles as are thought to be of particular interest to the Catholic physician by virtue of their medical literature although, of necessity, this source is the most fruitful. When abstracts appear, they are intended to reflect the content of the original article. Parenthetical editorial comment may follow the abstract if considered desirable. Contributions from readers are invited.

131st Annual Report Of The Board Of World Missions, Reformed Church In America
Board of Foreign Missions Annual Reports
The Board of Foreign Missions (later, World Missions) was organized by the General Synod in 1832. The board was under the direction of the RCA but was also under the authority of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions. David Abeel led the first mission of the RCA to the island of Borneo in the Dutch East Indies in 1836. Missions also sprouted in four primary target areas: Japan, India, China, and Arabia. In 1857, the board broke away from its ties with the American Board of Missions and established independent missions. Under its current name, the board is …

A new pattern of voter registration efforts is under way in Selma, Alabama, as civil rights workers from across the country have joined in the effort to add Negroes to the city's voters rolls.
The voter drive has resulted in mass arrests, minor violence, and increasing criticism of the Federal government's role there by civil rights groups.

Smc Alumni Bulletin 08-1962, Southern Missionary College
Alumni Newsletter
Features the article "The Seventieth Anniversary Homecoming October 12-14". VISITING Southern Missionary College after an absence of two or three years an alumnus said, "When I saw the large green and white over- head sign spanning the road at the campus approach (near where the Yellow House once stood,) I thought I was coming into a metropolis!" Similar luminous signs direct visitors to the industries, the dormitories, the college store, and to various other places of importance on the campus.

Campus Commentary
"My Dear Brother:
I hope you will forgive me If I add a few random footnotes to the reports from the Synodical Convention In Cleveland. I was there — from the first well-timed story by Vice-President Theodore Nickel at the open hearing on June 18 to the tired debate — almost two weeks later — over the exact amount of dollars and cents we might be able to raise for the Kingdom during the coming triennlum. If you have already read enough about the convention, please pack these notes with the comic books for the children when you leave for …

Editor's Note: The material that follows was prepared simultaneously with that contained in the article, "On Mentally Retarded Children" and we feel it is repetitious only in ifs emphasis of the subject matter and its' vital concern in today's pattern of living. The Reading Guides should be of particular interest and a source of assistance to parents seeking advice and counsel.
