Degree-building, institutional capacity-building, health workforce training, and general crisis preparedness were excluded. We searched PubMed, CINAHL, Communication and Mass Media Complete (EBSCO) (June 2023), and Web of Science …
Electophorectic Deposition For Novel Nanodecorated Electrodes Towards Thermally Charging Supercapacitor (Tcsc), Ashish Thakur
Electophorectic Deposition For Novel Nanodecorated Electrodes Towards Thermally Charging Supercapacitor (Tcsc), Ashish Thakur
Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Theses - Archive
Thermally Self-Charging Supercapacitors (TSCS) are a promising new technology that can harvest waste heat to produce electrical energy. The Soret effect is exploited wherein ion separation due a temperature gradient leads to a potential difference. Here, we use electrophoretic deposition (EPD), a room-temperature, scalable, universal technique, to obtain CNT decorated electrodes for fabrication of such TSCS devices with ionic liquid electrolyte. We further show that precise control over deposition parameters can be used for optimization of TSCS performance metrics. TSCS devices were tested by several characterization standards, indicating the superior performance of nanodecorated electrodes obtained by EPD.
Machine Learning-Based Methodology For Multi-Objective And Multi-Design Variable Optimization Of Finned Heat Sinks And Evaluation Of Electrochemical Additive Manufactured Heat Sink Designs For Single-Phase Immersion Cooling, Joseph F. Herring Ii
Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Dissertations - Archive
Traditional air-cooling along with corresponding heat sinks are beginning to reach performance limits, requiring lower air-supply temperatures and higher air-supply flowrates, in order to meet the rising thermal management requirements of high power-density electronics. A switch from air-cooling to single-phase immersion cooling provides significant thermal performance improvement and reliability benefits. When hardware which is designed for air cooling is implemented within a single-phase immersion cooling regime, optimization of the heat sinks provides additional thermal performance improvements. This work investigates performance of a machine learning (ML) approach to building a predictive model of the multi objective and multi-design variable optimization of …

Told in schools across the US for decades, Officer Friendly is a story about policing. Through the literal reading of books like Miss Frances’ 1953 Your Friend the Policeman, visits from McGruff the Crime Dog, and even the ever-expanding TikTok world of dancing SROs, the story remains the same: police keep us safe from the bad guys. In this paper, we draw on data from school and police social media accounts in a community in Alabama to expose the bad faith underpinnings of this story, and how it functions through ‘friendly’ police-youth programming in schools. This story relies on at …

The Role Of Uchl1 In Skeletal Muscle Development And Regeneration, Ryan Antony
The Role Of Uchl1 In Skeletal Muscle Development And Regeneration, Ryan Antony
Dissertations and Theses
Ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolase L1 (UCHL1) is a deubiquitinating enzyme that was originally discovered in neurons. UCHL1 is also expressed in skeletal muscle, but its functions remain to be fully understood. Myogenesis is a critical process involved in embryonic development, growth, and regeneration following injury. Skeletal muscle injury is prevalent in trauma and surgical procedures, and skeletal muscle ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injury is a common yet dangerous public health problem. Here we reported that UCHL1 negatively affects muscle growth during aging as well as the regeneration process following IR injury. First, we observed that UCHL1 knockdown in C2C12 myoblasts resulted in increased …

Measuring Clarity In Legal Text, Jonathan H. Choi
Measuring Clarity In Legal Text, Jonathan H. Choi
University of Chicago Law Review
Legal cases often turn on judgments of textual clarity: when the text is unclear, judges allow extrinsic evidence in contract disputes, consult legislative history in statutory interpretation, and more. Despite this, almost no empirical work considers the nature or prevalence of legal clarity. Scholars and judges who study real-world documents to inform the interpretation of legal text primarily treat unclear text as a research problem to be solved with more data rather than a fundamental feature of language.
This Article makes both theoretical and empirical contributions to the legal concept of textual clarity. It first advances a theory of clarity …

Exploring The Metabolic And Mitogenic Potential Of A Hyper-Stable Variant Of Fgf1, Emma Starr, Oshadi Edirisinghe, Thallapuranam Krishnaswamy Suresh Kumar
Inquiry: The University of Arkansas Undergraduate Research Journal
Fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) are a family of 22 human cytokines involved in critical cellular processes, such as proliferation, differentiation, metabolism, angiogenesis, tumor metastasis, and wound healing. Among these, fibroblast growth factor 1 (FGF1) possesses a powerful mitogenic potential as it can nonspecifically bind to all four FGF receptors. However, the therapeutic applications of FGF1 are hindered by its inherent thermal and proteolytic instability, especially at physiological temperatures. This is believed to be attributed to the heparin-binding pocket at the C-terminus, which contains numerous positively charged residues that repel each other. To combat this instability, FGF1 binds to a negatively …
