The Development And Evaluation Of The Functional Analysis Screening Tool For Athletic Performance (Fast-Ap), Sharayah S. M. Tai

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

There is a growing focus of ABA within sports performance, however, there is a lack of standardized assessments to aid in the development of individualized programming for athletes that is based on the behavior-reinforcing effects to promote optimal athletic performance. The Functional Analysis Screening Tool for Athletic Performance (FAST-AP) is a 16-item questionnaire developed to identify environmental variables that influence athletic performance and identify strategies that can be used to improve motivation and performance of athletes. This allows for the development of function-based interventions and identifying individualized coaching strategies to improve motivation and increase athletic performance more consistently overtime. Efficient, Secure Learning And Resource Management For Wireless Networks, Jiahao Xue

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

The rapid advancement of wireless networks has enabled a wide range of applications such as federated learning (FL) and Internet of Things, with supporting technologies like radio frequency identification (RFID). However, resource management and security challenges in wireless networks remain insufficiently addressed for these representative applications. In this dissertation, we first investigate wireless resource management for FL, then study novel attack and defense mechanisms for RFID systems. Finally, we analyze the performance and security of artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled next generation wireless networks.

First, we investigate the client assignment and bandwidth allocation problem for FL in a multi-provider wireless setting. Unlike …

Building Trustworthy Information Systems: A Unified Framework For Comparative Risk Detection, Parisa Momeni Jun 2026

Building Trustworthy Information Systems: A Unified Framework For Comparative Risk Detection, Parisa Momeni

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Risk detection in large scale information systems increasingly depends on heterogeneous data generatedby both centralized and distributed ecosystems. While centralized systems provide curated and validated reports, distributed environments produce large-scale and real-time observational evidence. Existing computational approaches analyze these ecosystems in isolation, limiting systematic comparison of risk repre-sentations across heterogeneous sources.

This dissertation presents a unified computational framework for comparative risk detection across centralized and distributed information systems. The framework provides a domain independent methodology for transforming heterogeneous risk reporting data into comparable multidimensional representations. To enable interpretable comparison of heterogeneous risk distributions, this work introduces the Geometric Overlap Score …

From The Common Heritage Of Mankind To The Artemis Accords: The Perspective Of Developing Countries In Southeast Asia, Ridha Aditya Nugraha, Lalin Kovudhikulrungsri, Runggu Prilia Ardes, Rio Christiawan

Indonesian Journal of International Law

The Agreement Governing the Activities of States on the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies of 1979 enshrines that the moon as a Common Heritage of Mankind (CHM), which highlights equitable sharing. This is considered a reason why the Agreement only attracted 17 member States. In order to return to the moon by 2028, the United States arranged the Artemis Accords. This non-binding arrangement discusses the utilization of space resources and the non-appropriation principle under international space law. The Artemis Accords can be interpreted as a subsequent practice related to space law treaties. However, the accord excludes the Moon Agreement, which …

Decolonizing International Law, Modirzadeh’S Critique, And Homework For Islamic International Law Scholarship: An Attasian Approach, Fajri Matahati Muhammadin, Rafsi Azzam Hibatullah Albar

Indonesian Journal of International Law

Naz Khatoon Modirzadeh published an article criticizing the Third World Approaches to International Law (TWAIL) movement for its purported inability to achieve its purpose as a response to one of the major international law decolonization projects. One of her criticisms is that TWAIL lacks a cohesive counter-vision of international law, actual representation of third-world views, and organized political movements. Within the heavily diverse (which is one of the problems) TWAIL camp, among others, is the voice of Islamic law. Most Muslim nations have been at the receiving end of the brute force of colonialism. Colonialism is, in fact, responsible for …

Climate Refugees And The Global Common Concern: ‘Rethinking Responsibility Sharing’ In International Law, Saheli Chakraborty, T.V.G.N.S Sudhakar

Indonesian Journal of International Law

Climate change is a fervently sought manifestation that has disproportionately impacted human rights. Amongst galore impediments, climate change has left an indelible mark on human mobility. The climate change-induced migrants, compelled to move beyond the borders, are caught in a double-edged sword. The foremost starts with the ‘’recognitional void” under the refugee law regime. At the outset of differential recognition, the scale of an apprehensive crisis is further questionable. However, acknowledging that no state can protect climate refugees nor address climate change alone, the need for responsibility sharing has been suggested as a sustainable contrivance in approach to the contemporary …

Legacy Vs. Luxury: Generational Stadium Design And Fan Perceptions In Professional Sport, Joshua Greer, Tim Wilson Jun 2026

Legacy Vs. Luxury: Generational Stadium Design And Fan Perceptions In Professional Sport, Joshua Greer, Tim Wilson

Global Sport Business Journal

This study examines whether generational differences in National Football League (NFL) stadium design influence fans' evaluations of venue quality, addressing a gap in the sport management literature on the relative importance of modernization versus heritage in shaping spectator satisfaction. Drawing on the sportscape framework and environmental psychology, the study analyzes 539,660 fan-generated online reviews from across 30 NFL stadiums. Composite satisfaction scores were calculated and used to assess relationships among stadium age, capacity, and perceived quality.

Results indicate no statistically significant difference in satisfaction between legacy stadiums (opened before 2000) and new-generation venues (opened in 2000 or later). Although legacy …

A Qualitative Analysis Of The Financial Issues Facing Division Ii And Division Iii Intercollegiate Athletics, Michael G. Fraina Iii, Tyler J. Ratts, Eric Forsyth, Lana Huberty, Madison Demaio

Global Sport Business Journal

With increasing costs and decreasing funding (Zvosec & Baer, 2022), the evolution of college athletics has altered the financial realities facing athletic departments (Elliott et al., 2026). To maintain operations, athletic directors are now tasked with identifying new revenue streams and becoming creative in how they manage their budgets. Research in intercollegiate sport has traditionally focused on Division I athletics. However, given the role of Division II and Division III programs, especially in driving enrollment at their institutions, further understanding of the current financial environment facing these schools is needed. The purpose of this qualitative study was to examine the …

Patterns In Emotional Labor Outcomes: Assessing Seasonal Cycles Of Burnout In Minor League Sport Employees, Mandy Barefoot, Mike Martinez Jun 2026

Patterns In Emotional Labor Outcomes: Assessing Seasonal Cycles Of Burnout In Minor League Sport Employees, Mandy Barefoot, Mike Martinez

Global Sport Business Journal

Burnout, characterized by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced personal accomplishment (Kristensen et al., 2005), is a growing concern among sport employees, with research documenting high levels of emotional strain, role conflict, and turnover intentions in collegiate and professional sport settings (Taylor et al., 2019; Weight et al., 2021). Although burnout is often examined as a stable condition, little attention has been given to how the cyclical nature of the sport calendar may shape its development over time.

This study examines burnout among middle managers in minor league baseball and hockey through the lens of Affective Events Theory, exploring how seasonal …

The Role Of National Recapitalization Funds In Sovereign Lending, Elena Gabriela Olariu, Konstantina Panagopoulou Perez Jun 2026

The Role Of National Recapitalization Funds In Sovereign Lending, Elena Gabriela Olariu, Konstantina Panagopoulou Perez

Journal of Financial Crises

The Global Financial Crisis of 2007–2009 showed that a substantial portion of funds borrowed by a state from a lender of last resort may be allocated to bank recapitalization. While national recapitalization funds are not themselves borrowers, they play a key role in recovery operations. This article analyses how lenders, such as the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) and the European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF), incorporate recapitalization funds into their lending framework and how they deal with extraordinary events, such as corporate transformations or liquidation of these funds. To do this, we formulate three key principles that a lender may consider …

Phasm As A Novel Atmospheric And Air–Sea Interface Sensing Platform For Coastal Boundary Layer Assessment, Daniel J. Gassen, Jamey Jacob, Jason Bruck, Paige Stevens Jun 2026

Phasm As A Novel Atmospheric And Air–Sea Interface Sensing Platform For Coastal Boundary Layer Assessment, Daniel J. Gassen, Jamey Jacob, Jason Bruck, Paige Stevens

ISARRA 2026

Understanding coupled processes at the sea–atmosphere interface remains a major challenge in coastal meteorology, particularly in regions influenced by land–sea breeze circulations and rapid convective initiation. Traditional atmospheric observations over coastal waters are spatially sparse and often fail to capture fine-scale thermodynamic variability associated with evaporation, transpiration-like moisture exchange, aerosol transport, and biologically mediated air–sea interactions. This presentation explores a novel extension of the Passive Health Assessment for Sea Mammals (PHASM) system toward atmospheric and environmental sensing applications using uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS).

Originally developed as a minimally invasive airborne sampling platform for marine mammal hormone assessment, PHASM integrates precision …

Contextual Audio Ducking Using Real-Time Stem Separation And Spatial Manipulation, Gaetano Ling, Joe Rickerby, Benjamin Pawle, Michael Colville, Ishac Bertran, Dk Lee

Defensive Publications Series

The standard approach to overlaying text-to-speech (TTS) on background audio is to globally attenuate the volume of the background track and play the overlaid TTS. This approach degrades the user experience by uniformly stripping rhythm from the background audio. This disclosure describes an audio-mixing architecture that utilizes real-time audio source separation combined with dynamic spatial manipulation. Instead of attenuating the master volume, the incoming stereo audio is demultiplexed into distinct stems (e.g., vocals, drums). When a system audio event (such as a voice assistant speaking) is triggered, a mixing matrix is executed as follows. The vocal stem is ducked to …

Printing Press Renewal, Ashley Mcguire, Margaret Wood Balch, Anna Kaetz, Timothy M. Wick

Libraries Professional Work

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Libraries are home to a Chandler & Price printing press, originally built in 1885. Unfortunately, this press was not whole or fully operational when it was acquired by the UAB Libraries in the 1970s. Among its defects, the press lacked the treadle, Pittman arm, and crankshaft to power the press, a functioning rotating ink plate, a chase for holding the type in place, and the pin that keeps the large wheel turning in time with the gears that lead the machine to function. Members from the UAB Libraries Historical Collections and Reference and …

Receiving Isaac Again: Joy And Return To The Finite In Fear And Trembling, Jeffrey M. Matheson Jun 2026

Receiving Isaac Again: Joy And Return To The Finite In Fear And Trembling, Jeffrey M. Matheson

Theses and Dissertations

This thesis argues that joy is a constitutive but underexamined feature of faith in Søren Kierkegaard’s Fear and Trembling. While the text is often interpreted through sacrifice, silence, dread, paradox, and the teleological suspension of the ethical, these categories do not exhaust Johannes de Silentio’s account of Abraham. By foregrounding Abraham’s joy, this thesis shows that faith is not merely the willingness to surrender the finite, but the capacity to receive the finite again after it has been given up. Isaac is not only Abraham’s beloved son, but the child of promise, the visible form of God’s covenant, and the …

A Mathematical Model Of The Interactions Between A Collagen Lattice, Fibroblasts, And Fixed Surfaces With Varying Topographies, Mary Jenkins Jun 2026

A Mathematical Model Of The Interactions Between A Collagen Lattice, Fibroblasts, And Fixed Surfaces With Varying Topographies, Mary Jenkins

Theses and Dissertations

Collagen is an important structural protein in the body, which plays a role in wound healing, particularly the contraction process. Collagen lattices have been studied for nearly 50 years to provide insight into wound contraction. In some cases, collagen interacts with surfaces that have fixed shapes, such as medical implants. Our model focuses on the interactions of a collagen lattice with such a fixed surface. We mathematically model a collagen lattice as a network of nodes connected by springs. We also model fixed surfaces that have various topographies. Our model includes fibroblast cells that connect to both surfaces and remodel …

The Enabling Role Of Digital Competencies In Heutagogical Learning Contexts: A Hermeneutic Phenomenological Study, Jennifer Dean Jun 2026

The Enabling Role Of Digital Competencies In Heutagogical Learning Contexts: A Hermeneutic Phenomenological Study, Jennifer Dean

Irish Journal of Academic Practice

In today’s digital age, independent, self-directed learning is essential for navigating complex information environments. Digital competencies support this by enabling learners to critically engage with, evaluate and apply information while maintaining autonomy and adaptability. This hermeneutic phenomenological study adopts a qualitative, interpretivist approach to explore the lived experiences of individuals engaged in heutagogical learning, where learners take intentional control over what, how and when they learn. Grounded in a constructivist epistemology, data were collected through nine in-depth, semi-structured online interviews. Thematic analysis revealed three key findings. First, self-directed learning is often unconscious and intrinsically motivated, driven by internal determination rather …
